연료 종류에 따른 이중 오리피스 노즐의 분무 특성 연구 (A Spray Characteristics of Dual Orifice Injector with Different Fuel Properties)

  • The effects of fuel density and fuel viscosity on spray characteristics were investigated under two different gas turbine fuels and various fuel supply pressure conditions through measurement of SMD, number density and volume flux by using PDPA system in dual orifice injector for gas turbine engines. In this study, we found out that the droplet size and spray structure are strongly depend on fuel density for dual orifice injector. The spray characteristics of high density fuel in dual orifice injector are similar with the characteristics of low density fuel in single orifice injector. The shear region between primary main fuel stream and secondary main fuel stream is examined in low density fuel condition but not exist in high density fuel condition, then this shear region is very important in quality of gas turbine spray. There are worth consideration for the effect of fuel density on spray characteristics in frontal device design to improve combustion efficiency.

  • To investigate the characteristics of orifice as an expansion devices, the experimental apparatus was made and experiments are being peformed using R22 and R290. The main idea of this control method of refrigerant flow rate with coupled orifices is to control the ON/OFF state of T and Ball type orifice corresponding to the subdivided region of thermal load. When system requires minimum thermal load, both T and Ball type orifices are closed, but refrigerant can flow through small hole of T type orifice. In regular thermal load, when ball type orifice is closed, T type orifice is opened and mass flow rate increase more than OFF state of T type orifice, due to large diameter. In maximum thermal load, both T and Ball type orifices are open and the much refrigerant can flow. The flow characteristics on T type orifice and parallel-combined orifice are obtained in the subdivided region of thermal load.

  • In a liquid-fueled ramjet engine, the insufficient mixing and evaporation result in the low combustion efficiency and combustion instability. Improving its characteristics and devising a means of fuel droplets with air may compensate these disadvantages of liquid fuel ramjet engine. The jet penetrations of various fuel injectors were measured to investigate the spray characteristics of a liquid-fueled ramjet engine under high pressure air-stream conditions. The penetrations in high pressure conditions are smaller than the values calculated from Inamura's or Lee's equations, and the jet penetrations in the high pressure conditions have a similar tendency. In the dual orifice injectors, the jet penetrations of rare orifice is rapidly increased due to the reduction of the drag, which is created by the jet column of front orifice. The jet penetration of rare orifice is increased because of the drag reduction created by the jet column of the front orifice. Because of the drag reduction formed by the column of jet, the jet penetration in the rear orifice of dual orifice injector is much larger than the jet penetrations of single orifice injector. As the distances of the orifice are increased, the jet penetrations of the rear orifice decrease.

  • 다양한 홀 크기를 갖는 오리피스를 이용하여 1, 2단 챔버를 구성하는 공압 모사모터를 제작하였다. 오리피스의 면적과 노즐 목 면적비에 따라 2단 챔버 작동 시 1단 챔버와 압력차가 발생한다. 이 압력차는 실제 추진기관 성능에 영향을 미치므로 오리피스 면적 및 설계에 대한 고찰이 필요하다. 2단 챔버 작동 시 1단 챔버 압력은 오리피스 크기 및 1단 챔버 형상에 따른 와류형성으로 에너지 손실이 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 상용 CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) 프로그램(ANSYS FLUENT V14.5)를 이용하여 유동을 모사하였다.

  • Wall flush mounted injector with various orifice shape and injection conditions, were examined to enhance jet penetration and mixing in supersonic cross flow, in view of application to air-breathing accelerator vehicle. Orifice shapes with high aspect ratio were found to preferable for better penetration in the cold flow, and in the reacting flow for scramjet-mode combustion conditions. However, the effectiveness of the high aspect ratio was diminished in the dual-mode combustion conditions. Supersonic injection was applied to the high aspect ratio orifice, and further increase in penetration was observed in the cold and reactive flow for scramjet-mode combustion conditions, however, mixing enhancement due to mixing layer / pseudo-shock wave system interaction was dominant in the dual-mode combustion conditions. Difficulty in attaining ignition in the case with the high aspect ratio orifice was encountered during the combustion tests.

  • Crossflow에 미치는 영향을 최소화하면서 liquid Jet의 미립화 및 혼합특성을 향상시키기 위한 JICF의 분무 특성에 대해 실험적으로 연구하였다. Crossflow의 온도, 속도, 압력과 liquid Jet의 속도, 압력을 변화시키면서 crossflow와 liquid jet의 momentum ratio(q)의 변화에 따른 spray boundary (outer boundary, inner boundary)를 측정하고 실험식을 유도하여 선행연구자의 결과와 비교하였다. 특히, injector의 형상에 따른 jet penetration를 측정하여 dual orifice injector의 경우 전단 오리피스의 영향으로 후단 오리피스에서의 jet penetration은 single orifice injector 분사노즐과 비교할 때 약 18% ($L_h$=4 mm) 증가하는 것을 확인하였다.

  • It is well known that NOx formation has a strong dependence on the maximum temperature and correspondingly with the maximum chamber pressure of a closed combustion system. However, in a case of impinging-jet-flame (IJF hereafter) combustion with opposed dual pre-chambers, low $NO_x$ formation with high pressure could be achieved, but its mechanism has not been clearly understood so far. In this study, a three-dimensional analysis is adopted to resolve time-variant local properties that might indicate the mechanism of IJF combustion. Numerical results are verified by comparing them with experiments. The IJF combustion in a vessel with no pre-chamber, with single pre-chamber, and with dual pre-chambers is studied. The orifice diameter and the volumetric ratio of pre-chamber are used as geometric parameters. The effects of main-chamber ignition delay time and combustion time of main-chamber, orifice exit velocity, orifice exit temperature, turbulent kinetic energy of main-chamber and spatial distribution of temperature in the latter stage of combustion are investigated. A longer main-chamber ignition delay and a shorter main-chamber combustion time suppress the formation of high temperature region with respect to mean temperature, which consequently results in less NO production.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of fuel temperature on the spray characteristics of a dual-orifice type swirl injector used in a gas turbine. The major parameters affecting spray characteristics are fuel temperature and injection pressure entering into the injector. In this study, the spray characteristics of a dual-orifice type swirl injector are investigated by varying fuel temperature from - 30$^{\circ}C$ to 120$^{\circ}C$ and injection pressure from 0.29 to 0.69 ㎫. Two kinds of fuel having different surface tension and viscosity are chosen as atomizing fluids. As a result, injection instability occurs in the low fuel temperature range due to icing phenomenon and fuel property change with a decrease of fuel temperature. As the injection pressure increases, the range of kinematic viscosity for stable atomization becomes wider. The properties controlling the SMD of spray is substantially different according to the fuel temperature range.
