  • In this paper,a network interface unit of token-passing bus network and its driving software are implemented based on Mini-MAP. This network interface unit performs the function of MAC layer which is responsible for transmission and reception of frames as well as the management of logical ring. The driving software performs the management of data buffer and the report of errors, if ocoured, to the higher layer. Motorola MC68824 of is used as a TBC(Token Bus Controller) and Intel80186 as a CPU for network interface unit. The operation of network interface unit is verified by self-test which checks the functioning of TBC and CPU. In addition each module of driving software is tested to check the functions regarding transmission and reception of frames.

  • As robot technology advances, research on the driving system of mobile robots is actively being conducted. The driving system of a mobile robot configured based on two-wheels and four-wheels has an advantage in unidirectional driving such as a straight line, but has disadvantages in turning direction and rotating in place. A ball robot using a ball as a wheel has an advantage in omnidirectional movement, but due to its structurally unstable characteristics, balancing control to maintain attitude and driving control for movement are required. By estimating the position from an encoder attached to the motor, conventional ball robots have a limitation, which causes the accumulation of errors during driving control. In this study, a driving control system was proposed that estimates the position coordinates of a ball robot through image processing and uses it for driving control. A driving control system including an image processing unit, a communication unit, a display unit, and a control unit for estimating the position of the ball robot was designed and manufactured. Through the driving control experiment applying the driving control system of the ball robot, it was confirmed that the ball robot was controlled within the error range of ±50.3mm in the x-axis direction and ±53.9mm in the y-axis direction without accumulating errors.

  • The wheel bearing hub unit is developed type of wheel bearing unified with the hub parts. It has advantage of reducing the weight and the number of components. And, it also improves uniformity of manufacturing quality, In order to design the wheel bearing hub units, many techniques are used such as load analysis, structure analysis and bearing characteristics analysis and so forth. These techniques need highly accurate load conditions founded on service conditions. In this study, to design the wheel bearing hub units used widespread in passenger cars, the service load was measured through driving tests on the public roads and in the special events. The public roads are classified into highway, intercity road, rural road, urban road, and unpaved road so as to know what the characteristics of the road loads are. The results of the tests showed that the wheel force was relative to the lateral acceleration, and also could be calculated from the lateral acceleration. The lateral acceleration was measured from 0.0G to 0.6G in general driving on the public roads, with different distributions in each road type. In special events, the maximum lateral acceleration was measured from 0.8G to 1.3G.

  • The unit modular method is one in which unit modules are prefabricated at a factory and then constructed at a construction site. That is why an important process, transporting unit module, is added in this method. The purpose of this study is to analyse the load for transporting unit module. The results of the analysis of the driving experimental runs revealed that a maximum load of 15 kN was applied on adapter block type A and a maximum load of 25 kN on adapter block type B. These loads were recorded at the points in the road test when the low-bed trailer was driving through unstable sections of the test such as stopping, restarting, passing over a speed bump or taking a left turn at speed.

  • Urban transit vehicle that uses electrical energy, is faster, safer and energy-efficient public transit than other means. As a Research method, the Matlab/Simulink are used to modeling a regenerative brake-capable train, and actual parameters such as powering and braking characteristics, all kinds of resistance, passenger load, velocity, gradient, radius of curve etc and powering and breaking commands per time or distance are inputted to train's dynamic equation, then a simulation program is made and used to yield train driving pattern and driving time and the amount of driving energy used thereby at auto and manual operation and at all sector.

  • This study focuses on finding ways to derive train's optimal ECO driving pattern, which can improve the ride quality and reduce driving energy consumption with keeping the time interval between the stations. As research method, we compared difference of currently operating train's ATO and MCS driving patterns, and concentrated upon the things need to consider in simulation in order to improve the existing pattern of ATO driving pattern's issues with securing the train operation safety. Determining driving pattern minimizing energy consumption by controlling powering within speed limit and controlling switching to coasting at appropriate point considering the track conditions for each section, and determining braking control starting time considering ride comfort and precise stopping is considered to be most important.

  • In order to maintain a constant speed ratio between the tractor and attached seed planter, a feedback control unit to rotate the feed shaft of the planter in proportional to the ground speed of the tractor was designed. The fifth wheel was used as a ground speed sensor for the unit. Using this control unit a feed shaft driving system was developed and tested to estimate its performance both in laboratory and fields. The test results showed that the system rotates the feed shaft proportionally to the ground speed in the range of the normal planting speed of 0.5-0.8m/s with errors less than 5%.

  • This study is to establish design method and evaluation technology for drive system appropriate to articulated vehicles. The transmission system of articulated vehicles serves in the other condition compared with those of commercial vehicles, namely, they have to transmit high power to run and they have to make maximum use of the limited space. This paper reports the reviews and results of the design and evaluation method for driving gear unit of articulated vehicles and discusses various design items and methods about assembly and parts of driving gear unit.
