목분 기포제를 이용한 산업부산물 소재 다공성 세라믹에 의한 산성광산배수의 처리특성 연구 (Treatment Characteristics of Acid Mine Drainage by Porous Ceramics using Wood Flour as Pore-forming Agent)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the removal characteristics of heavy metals and sulfate ion from acid mine drainage by porous zeolite-slag ceramics (ZS ceramics) that was prepared by adding wood flour as pore-foaming agent while calcining the mixtures of natural zeolite and converter slag. The batch test showed that the removal efficiency of heavy metals by pellet-type porous ZS ceramics increased as the particle size of wood flour was decreased and as the weight mixing ratio of wood flour to ZS ceramics was increased. The optimal particle size and weight mixing ratio of wood flour were measured to be $75{\mu}m$ and 7~10%, respectively. The removal test with the porous ZS ceramics prepared in these optimal condition showed very high removal efficiencies: more than 98.4% for all heavy metals and 73.9% for sulfate ion. Relative to nonporous ZS ceramics, the increment of removal efficiency of heavy metals by porous ZS ceramics with $75{\mu}m$ and 10% wood flour was 5.8%, 60.5%, 36.9%, 87.7%, 10.3%, and 57.4% for Al, Cd, Cu, Mn, Pb, and Zn, respectively. The mechanism analysis of removal by the porous ZS ceramics suggested that the heavy metals and sulfate ion from acid mine drainage are eliminated by multiple reactions such as adsorption and/or ion exchange as well as precipitation and/or co-precipitation.

  • 본 연구에서는 대형압밀시험 장비를 이용하여 연직배수재 타설로 스미어가 발생된 지반을 모사하고 실험을 수행하였다. 스미어가 발생한 카올리나이트 모형지반에서 배수재로부터의 거리에 따라 시료를 채취하고 이를 이용하여 표준압밀시험을 실시하였으며, 이로부터 투수계수-간극비-유효응력의 3차원 거동을 분석하였다. 실험결과 스미어 발생으로 나타나는 위치별 투수계수 차이와 스미어와 무관하게 방사배수 압밀 중 나타나는 위치별 투수계수 차이는 모두 압밀진행에 따라 감소하며 정규 압밀영역에서 거의 사라진다. 또한 스미어로 인한 것보다 방사배수 압밀로 인한 위치별 투수계수 차이가 상대적으로 더 작은 영역에서 더 크게 나타났다.

Effects of Physical Characteristics on a Nutrient-Chlorophyll Relationship in Korean Reservoirs

  • This study was performed to evaluate effects of physical characteristics of both watershed and reservoir on nutrient-chlorophyll relationship in Korean reservoirs. Simple linear models were developed with published data in Korea including 415 reservoirs and 11 multi-purpose dams, and physico-chemical parameters of reservoirs and characteristics relationship of models were analyzed. Theoretical residence time in Korean reservoirs was strongly correlated with the ratio of TA/ST (drainage area + surface area / storage volume) in the logarithmic function. As a result of monthly nutrients-chlorophyll-a regression analysis, significant Chl-a-TP relationship appeared during May~July. The high Chl-a yields per total phosphorus appeared during this time (R$\^$2/=0.51, p<0.001, N= 1088). Chlorophyll-a demonstrated much stronger relationship with TP. than TN. Seasonal algal-nutrient coupling were closely related with N:P ratio in the reservoir water, and it was, in turn, dependent on the monsoon climatic condition (precipitation). Based on the results of regression analysis and high N:P ratio, a major limiting factor of algal growth appeared to be phosphorus during this time. Unlikely TA/ST ratio, DA/SA ratio (drainage area f surface area) was likely to influence directly on the nutrient-Chl-a relationship, indicating that if storage volume and inflowing water volume were the same, algal biomass could be developed more in reservoirs with large surface area. Thus, DA/SA ratio seemed to be an important factor to affect the development of algal biomass in Korean reservoirs. With low determination coefficient of TP-Chl-a relationship, our findings indicated not only nutrient (phosphorus) but also other physical factors, such as DA/SA ratio, may affect algal biomass development in Korean reservoirs, where actual residence time appears to be more closely related to reservoir surface area rather than storage volume.

공간정보 기반 산사태 발생지역 예측비율 평가 (The Evaluation on the Prediction Ratio of Landslide Hazard Area based on Geospatial Information)

  • 최근 집중호우에 의한 산사태 발생이 빈번해짐에 따라 산사태 취약지역을 분석하고 산사태 발생을 예측하기 위한 다양한 연구들이 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 산사태 발생지역의 토양특성을 분석하였으며, 배수 특성별 우도비를 평가한 결과 배수가 좋은 토양에서 산사태 발생 가능성이 높게 나타났다. 또한 DEM 자료에서 추출한 경사도의 우도비를 평가한 결과 $20{\sim}40^{\circ}$ 경사구간에서 산사태 발생 가능성이 높게 나타났다. 그리고 공간분석에 의한 사면방향도의 우도비를 평가한 결과 북향에서 산사태 발생 가능성이 높게 나타났다. 아울러 토양배수, 경사도 그리고 사면방향도의 우도비를 중첩하여 산사태 취약도를 평가할 수 있었으며, 산사태 발생지역에 대하여 분석과 검증 프로세스를 수행함으로써 미래 산사태 발생 예측비율을 평가할 수 있었다.

저수지 관개지구의 농업용수 회귀 특성 분석 (Characteristics of Irrigation Return Flow in a Reservoir Irrigated District)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate characteristics of irrigation return flow from paddy block in a reservoir irrigated district during growing seasons. The irrigation return flow was divided into three parts, quick return flow from irrigation canal (RFI), quick return flow from drainage canal (RFD), and delayed return flow (DRF). The RFI was calculated from water level and stage-discharge relationships at the ends of the irrigation canals. The DRF was estimated using measured infiltration amount from paddy fields of the irrigated district. A combined monitoring and modeling method was used to estimate the RFD by subtracting surface runoff from surface drainage. The paddy block irrigated from the Idong reservoir was selected to study the irrigation return flow components. The results showed that daily agricultural water supply (AWS), the RFI, and the RFD were $27.4mm\;day^{-1}$, $4.9mm\;day^{-1}$, and $19.8mm\;day^{-1}$, respectively in May, which were greater than other months (p<0.05). The return flow ratio of the RFI and the RFD were the greatest in July (34.6%) and May (72.3%), respectively. The daily AWS was closely correlated with the RFD (correlation coefficients of 0.76~0.86) in except for July with, while correlation coefficient with the RFI were 0.56 and 0.42 in June and July, respectively (p<0.01). The total irrigation return flow was 1,965 mm in 2011, and 1,588 mm in 2012, resulting in total return flow ratio of 84.6% and 79.1%, respectively. This results indicate that substantial amounts of agricultural water were returned to streams as irrigation return flow. Thus, irrigation return flow should be fully considered into the agricultural water resources planning in Korea.

Surgical Experience with Descending Necrotizing Mediastinitis: A Retrospective Analysis at a Single Center

  • Background: We analyzed our experience with descending necrotizing mediastinitis (DNM) treatment and investigated the efficacy of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for mediastinal drainage. Methods: This retrospective analysis included patients who underwent surgical drainage for DNM at our hospital from 2005 to 2020. We analyzed patients' baseline characteristics, surgical data, and perioperative outcomes and compared them according to the mediastinal drainage approach among patients with type II DNM. Results: Twenty-five patients (male-to-female ratio, 18:7) with a mean age of 54.0±12.9 years were enrolled in this study. The most common infection sources were pharyngeal infections (60%). Most patients had significantly increased white blood cell counts, elevated C-reactive protein levels, and decreased albumin levels on admission. The most common DNM type was type IIB (n=16, 64%), while 5 and 4 patients had types I and IIA, respectively. For mediastinal drainage, the transcervical approach was used in 15 patients and the transthoracic approach (VATS) in 10 patients. The mean length of hospital stay was 26.5±23.8 days, and the postoperative morbidity and in-hospital mortality rates were 24% and 12%, respectively. No statistically significant differences were found among patients with type II DNM between the transcervical and VATS groups. However, the VATS group showed shorter mean antibiotic therapy duration, drainage duration, and hospital stay length than the transcervical group. Conclusion: DNM manifested as severe infection requiring long-term inpatient treatment, with a mortality rate of 12%. Thus, active treatment with a multidisciplinary approach is crucial, and mediastinal drainage using VATS is considered relatively safe and effective.

국내 미계측유역의 갈수량 산정 개선 (Improving Low Flow Estimation for Ungauged Basins in Korea)

  • 갈수량(low flow)은 과거 자연상태 하천에서 갈수기에 흘렀던 유량으로서 자연과 사람이 공유할 수 있는 최소한의 유량이며, 이수측면에서 하천수의 공급능력을 평가하여 취수량을 설정하는 기준 유량이다. 일본과 우리나라에서는 평균갈수량과 기준갈수량을, 미국과 영국 등에서는 10년빈도 7일 갈수량($7Q_{10}$)을 갈수량 지표로 사용하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 위의 세 지표를 관측자료와 모의 생성자료를 이용하여 비교하고 고찰하여 보았다. 갈수량 산정을 위해서는 과거의 관측 유량자료가 필요하나 국내에는 수위관측시설이 한정되어 있을 뿐 아니라 홍수기에 비해 갈수기 자료가 턱없이 부족하여 갈수량 산정에 많은 어려움을 겪고 있다. 국내에서는 대부분 비유량법(drainage-area ratio method)으로 미계측유역의 갈수량을 산정하고 있다 본 연구에서는 미계측유역(ungauged basin)의 갈수량을 산정하기 위한 방법으로 비유량법과 지역회귀기법(regional regression method), 기저유량상관법(baseflow correlation method)을 국내에 적용하여 보고, 각 방법의 적용시 지침과 국내에 적합한 갈수량 산정방법을 제시하였다.

  • This study has been carried out to evaluate the passive treatment systems for acid mine drainage in Korea and to suggest, if possible, the method for the improvement. 35 passive treatment systems in 27 mines have been constructed since 1996. SAPS, being the main process, was combined with more than one of processes such as anaerobic wetland, aerobic wetland, and oxidation pond for the construction of passive treatment system. Problems observed during the operation include the poor sulfate removal ratio, overflow, leakage, unusabless of the whole system, and inefficiency. The reasons of the poor sulfate removal ratio are believed that the low temperature during the winter prohibits the SRB activity and HRT for bacterial sulfate reduction is insufficient. An alternative method In Adit Sulfate Reducing System which enables to keep the temperature constant at about $15^{\circ}C$ was suggested. IASRS is the methods of placing the SAPS inside the adit, which enables the temperature around the system constant can be maintained. The experiments using the laboratory scaled model systems made up of four sections showed high efficiencies in pH control and metal removal ratios, but showed still low sulfate removal ratio of about $23\%$ also with high COD at the beginning of the operation.

A Study on the Hydrologic Design of Detention Storage Ponds in Urbanized Area

  • This Study is to develop the suitable hydrologic models for determination of the size and location of detention storage facilities to restrain stormwater runoff in urban areas. Hypothetical areas of two levels are considered to seize the hydrologic response characteristics. A one-square-kilometer ares is selected for the catchment level, and a 10-square-kilometer area consisting of 10 catchments is adapted at the watershed level as representative of urban drainage area. In this analysis, different rainfall freqyencies, land uses, drainage patte군, basin shates and detention storage policies are considered. Folw reduction effect of detention storage facilities is deduced from storage ratio and detention basin factor. A substantial saving in detention storage volumes is achieved 노두 the detention storage is planned at the watershed level rather than the catchment level. For the application of real watersheds, two watersheds in Seoul metropolitan area-Jamshil 2 and Seongnae 1-are selected on the basis of hydrologic response charactaristics. Through the regression analysis between dimensionless deterntion storage volume, dimensionless upstream area ratio and reduction rate of storage ratio, the regression equations to determine the size and location of detention storage faclities are presented.
