  • In this paper, we considered the deformation shape of the soft rotation actuator as a double curvature shell and proceeded with the analytical development. Since the response of the hyperelastic material has a large nonlinear deformation, the analytical approach is very complicated and the solution cannot be easily obtained. it is assumed that the behavior of the flexible body, which is a superelastic material, takes the form of a double curvature shell, and the formulas for calculating the deformation are simplified. In this process, equilibrium equations in the related coordinate system representing a double curvature shell were derived. In addition, assuming a thin shell, the stress component in the thickness direction was ignored, and the equation was developed by adding the assumption of free rotation without load. In order to verify the analytically calculated value in this way, an experiment was conducted and the results were compared.

  • In this paper, a geometrically nonlinear meshfree analysis of 3D various forms of shell structures using the double director shell theory with finite rotations is proposed. This theory is introduced in the present method to remove the shear correction factor and to improve the accuracy of transverse shear stresses with the consideration of rotational degrees of freedom. The present meshfree method is based on the radial point interpolation method (RPIM) which is employed for the construction of shape functions for a set of nodes distributed in a problem domain. Discrete system of geometrically nonlinear equilibrium equations solved with the Newton-Raphson method is obtained by incorporating these interpolations into the weak form. The accuracy of the proposed method is examined by comparing the present results with the accurate ones available in the literature and good agreements are found.

  • The published studies usually used analytical method, numerical methods or experimental method to determine the stress-strain state and displacement of the single-layer or multi-layer curved shell types, but with a small scale model. However, a full scale multi-layer doubly curved concrete shell roof model should be researched. This paper presents the results of the experiment and simulation analysis involving stress-strain state, sliding between layers, the formation and development of the full scale double-layer doubly curved concrete shell roof when this shell begins to crack. The results of the this study have constructed the load-sliding strain relationship; strain diagram; stress diagram in the shell layers; the Nx, Ny membrane force diagram and deflection of shell. Thisresults by experimental method on a full scale model of concrete have clarified the working of multi-layer doubly curved concrete shell roof. The experimental and simulation results are compared with each other and compared with the Sap2000 software.

  • The transfer influence coefficient method which is an vibration analysis algorithm based on the transfer of influence coefficient is applied to the free vibration analysis of double cylindrical shells. After the computational programs for the free vibration analysis of double cylindrical shells were made using the transfer influence coefficient method and the transfer matrix method, we compared the results using the transfer influence coefficient method with those by the transfer matrix method. The transfer influence coefficient method provided the good computational results in the free vibration analysis of double cylindrical shells. In particular, The results of the transfer influence coefficient method are superior to those of the transfer matrix method when the stiffness of internal springs connecting a inside cylindrical shell and a outside cylindrical shell is very large.

  • In this study, monodispersive silica nanoparticles with double mesoporous shells were synthesized, and the pore size of synthetic mesoporous silica nanoparticles was controlled. Cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC), N, N-dimethylbenzene, and decane were used as soft template and induced to form outer mesoporous shell. The resultant double mesoporous silica nanoparticles were consisted of two layers of shells having different pore sizes, and it has been confirmed that outer shells with larger pores (Mean pore size > 2.5 nm) are formed directly on the surface of the smaller pore sized shell (Mean pore size < 2.5 nm). It was confirmed that the regulation of the molar ratio of pore expansion agents plays a key role in determining the pore size of double mesoporous shells.

  • This paper aims to study vibration characteristics of chiral and zigzag double-walled carbon nanotubes entrenched on Donnell shell model. The Eringen's nonlocal elastic equations are being combined with Donnell shell theory to observe small scale response. Wave propagation is proposed technique to establish field equations of model subjected to four distinct end supports. A nonlocal model has been formulated to explore the frequency spectrum of both chiral and zigzag double-walled CNTs along with diversity of indices and nonlocal parameter. The significance of scale effect in relevance of length-to-diameter and thickness- to- radius ratios are discussed and displayed in detail. The numerical solution based on this nonlocal Donnell shell model can be further used to predict other frequency phenomena of double-walled and multi-walled CNTs.

  • The vibration analysis of armchair, zigzag and chiral double-walled carbon nanotubes has been developed by inserting the nonlocal theory of elasticity into thin shell theory. First Donnell shell theory is employed while exercising wave propagation approach. Scale effects are realized by using different values of nonlocal parameters under certain boundary conditions. The natural frequencies have been investigated and displayed for various non-local parameters. It is noticed that on increasing nonlocal parameter, the frequency curve tends to decrease. The frequency estimates of clamped-free boundary condition are less than those of clamped-clamped and simply supported computations. The frequency comparisons are presented for armchair, zigzag and chiral nanotubes. The software MATLAB is used to extract the frequencies of double walled carbon nanotubes.

  • In this paper, frequency vibrations of double-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) has been investigated based upon nonlocal elastic theory. The inference of small scale is being perceived by establishing nonlocal Love shell model. The wave propagation approach has been operated to frame the governing equations as eigen value system. An innovational nonlocal model to examine the scale effect on vibrational behavior of armchair, zigzag and chiral of double-walled CNTs. An appropriate selection of material properties and nonlocal parameter has been considered. The influence of dimensionless nonlocal parameter has been studied in detail. The dominance of end condition via nonlocal parameter is explained graphically. The results generated furnish the evidence regarding applicability of nonlocal shell model and also verified by earlier published literature.

  • In this study, an estimation regarding nonlocal shell model based on wave propagation approach has been considered for vibrational behavior of the double walled carbon nanotubes with distinct nonlocal parameters. Vibrations of double walled carbon nanotubes for chiral indices (8, 3) have been analyzed. The significance of small scale is being perceived by developing nonlocal Love shell model. The influence of changing mechanical parameter Poisson's ratio has been investigated in detail. The dominance of boundary conditions via nonlocal parameter is shown graphically. It is found that on increasing the Poisson's ratio, the frequencies increases. It is noted that the frequencies of clamped-clamped frequencies are higher than that of simply-supported and clamped-free edge conditions. The outcomes of frequencies are tested with earlier computations.
