Influences of Doping Methods on Microstructure and Fracture Toughness of Mo-La Alloys

  • Lanthanum oxide was introduced to molybdenum powder by liquid-liquid doping and liquid-solid doping respectively. Mo alloys were prepared by powder metallurgy technology. The size distribution and feature of dopant particles and the fractographs of Mo alloys were investigated by TEM and SEM respectively. The results indicated that liquid-liquid doping method is favorable for refining and dispersing $La_2O_3$ particles uniformly in matrix. Fracture toughness of Mo alloys prepared by liquid-liquid doping showed better results than that of liquid-solid doping. Furthermore, the influences of the size distribution of $La_2O_3$ on properties of Mo alloys was discussed by dislocation pile-up theory.

MgO입자 표면에 도핑된 P2O5가 가수분해, 발수성, 그리고 절연거동에 미치는 영향 (Effects of P2O5-doped on the Surface of MgO Particles for Hydrolysis, Water Repellency, and Insulation Behavior)

  • MgO 입자 표면에 첨가된 P2O5의 가수분해, 발수성, 그리고 절연 거동에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. MgO 표면에 첨가된 P2O5는 가수분해반응 억제와 발수성을 동시에 나타내기 때문에 독특한 절연거동을 나타내었다. 따라서 절연거동은 MgO의 표면수화반응에 의한 Mg(OH)2와 OH-전하 전달비와 친수성에 반비례하였다. 시효에 따른 MgO의 절연성은 표면수화반응, 첨가된 도펀트 종의 밴드갭, 그리고 도펀트의 친수성과 소수성에 강한 영향성과 의존성을 나타내었다. 마지막으로 친수성인 MgO의 표면수화반응을 억제하는 전기절연성을 발현하여 열전달매체 응용분야에서 큰 잠재력을 제공하는 것으로 나타났다.

비오옴 ZnO 세라믹스의 형성과정에서 스피넬의 영향 (Effects of Spinel on the Formation Process of Nonohmic ZnO Ceramics)

  • Sintering behavior, distribution of dopant oxides and electrical properties in the ZnO-Bi2O3-CoO-Sb2O3 and ZnO-Bi2O3-CoO-Sb2O3-Cr2O3 systems were studied. The linear shrinkage of ZnO varistors from 850 to 950$^{\circ}C$ was related to the decomposition reaction (py\longrightarrowsp+Bi2O3) of the pyrochlore phase. In the distribution of the dopant oxides (CoO, Sb2O3, Cr2O3), Co distribute uniformly throughout the sample, the distribution of Sb coincided with small particles (spinel phase, Zn7Sb2O12), and Cr distributed very consistently with Sb. The increase in breakdown voltage, due to the addition of Cr2O3, was not only attributed to the decrease in the ZnO grain size but also to the solution of Cr2O3 in the spinel phase. The leakage current (80% V60 ${\mu}\textrm{A}$) was increased by the addition of Cr2O3.

(Ba,Sr)$_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ Phosphor Particles by Spray Pyrolysis Process

  • $(Ba,Sr)_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor particles with high brightness were prepared by spray pyrolysis. The changes in the photoluminescence intensity and morphology of $(Ba,Sr)_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ were investigated by changing the posttreatment temperature and the concentration of dopant. The prepared $(Ba,Sr)_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ particles has a dense structure, but irregular shape after the posttreatment. When they were excited by the ultraviolet light of 410 nm, a broad emission band with a peak at 508 nm was observed. The photoluminescence intensity of the prepared $(Ba,Sr)_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ particles was enhanced by increasing the posttreatment temperature up to 1300 $^{\circ}C$ and further improved by adding several rear-earth codopants. The $(Ba,Sr)_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ particles prepared by spray pyrolysis had a good excitation spectrum in the wavelength longer than 350 nm. Therefore, it was concluded that the $(Ba,Sr)_2SiO_4:Eu^{2+}$ prepared by spray pyrolysis is a good green-emitting phosphor for LED application.

Microstructure Control and Upconversion Emission Improvement of Y2O3:Ho3+/Yb3+ Particles Prepared by Spray Pyrolysis

  • Upconversion (UC) properties of Y2O3:Ho3+/Yb3+ spherical particles synthesized by spray pyrolysis were investigated by changing the dopant concentration and calcination temperature. Citric acid (CA), ethylene glycol (EG) and N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF) were used to control the microstructure of Y2O3:Ho3+/Yb3+ particles. In terms of achieving the highest UC green emission intensity, the optimal concentrations of Ho3+ and Yb3+ were found to be 0.3% and 3.0%, respectively. In addition, the UC intensity of Y2O3:Ho3+/Yb3+ showed a linear relationship with the crystallite size. The use of organic additives allows Y2O3:Ho3+/Yb3+ particles to have a spherical and dense structure, resulting in significantly reducing the surface area while maintaining high crystallinity. As a result, the UC emission intensity of Y2O3:Ho3+/Yb3+ particles having a dense structure showed the UC emission intensity about 3.8 times higher than that of hollow particles prepared without organic additives. From those results, when Y2O3:Ho3+/Yb3+ particles are prepared by the spray pyrolysis process, the use of the CA/EG/DMF mixtures as organic additives has been suggested as an effective way to substantially increase the UC emission intensity.

전도성 고분자 복합체 제조를 위한 신합성 연구 (I) : 다공성정도가 전도성 고분자 복합체의 전도도에 미치는 영향 (Process for the Preparation of Conducting Polymer Composites (I) : Effect of the Porosity on the Conductivity)

  • Seed 유화 중합법과 용매 추출법을 이용하여 전도성 고분자 복합체를 위한 다공성 입자를 제조하였다. 건조된 다공성 입자를 모체 고분자로 사용하여 dopant로 사용하는 $FeCl_3$를 methanol에 녹여 흡수시킨 뒤에 건조시키고, 이를 다시 pyrrole를 녹인 ethyl ether 용액으로 중합하여 용액을 증발시킴으로서 전도성 고분자 복합체를 합성하였다. 이때, 모체 고분자로 사용된 비다공성 입자와 다공성 입자의 전도도를 비교하였다. 실험결과, 전도성 복합체의 전도도는 비다공성 입자보다는 다공성 입자를 사용하여 제조한 복합체가 전도성 중합체가 입자의 표면뿐만 아니라 pore안에서도 용이하게 형성되어 더 우수한 전도도를 나타내었다.

열가수분해 및 수열결정화에 의한 구형 ZrO2 분말의 합성 (Synthesis of Spherical ZrO2 Powders by Thermal Hydrolysis and Hydrothermal Crystallization)

  • 가열가수분해반응에 의하여 제조된 구형의 $ZrO_2$ 겔을 수열결정화시켜 순수한 $ZrO_2$ 분말과 $Y2_O_3$, CaO 등 상안정화제가 도핑된 $ZrO_2$ 분말을 합성하였다. 합성된 $ZrO_2$ 결정분말들은 평균 10nm 크기의 일차 입자들로 구성된 이차입자들이었다. 이차입자의 평균 크기는 $0.4{\mu}m$였고, 수열결정화과정에서 겔의 구형 형상이 그대로 유지되었으며 일차 입자들 사이에는 약한 응집으로 존재하였다. 입자모양, 크기, 상분율, 도핑된 분율 등을 SEM, TEM, XRD, ICP로 연구하였고 구형 겔의 수열결정화기구를 논의하였다.

  • 자성분말의 보자력$(H_{c})$과 보자력 분포도는 조성 이외의 제조공정인자에 크게 의존하는 값으로 자성분말 제조시 재현성을 결정하는 중요한 물성중의 하나이다. 자성분 말의 자기적 물성을 측정하는 VSM을 이용하여 쉽고 간단하게 보자력 분포도를 측정하는 방법과 그 응용예를 제시하였다. 보자력 분포도 측정은 magnetic hysteresis loop 의 dM/dH 대 H 곡선의 형태와 반치폭에서 얻을 수 있다. dM/dH 곡선 형태가 분리되는 것 없이 반치폭이 작아질수록 보자력 분포도는 더 균일해짐을 나타낸다. 보자력이 다 른 Ba-Ferrite와 ${\gamma}-Fe_{2}O_{3}$ 혼합물 중 Ba-Ferrite의 $H_{c}$가 높아질수록 dM/dH 대 H 곡선 형태는 peak broadening 후 peak splitting으로 나타나며, 이 peak splitting은 혼합자성분말의 $H_{c}$ 차이가 600 Oe 이상일 때 일어난다. 또한 dM/dH 대 H 곡선의 응용으로는 자성분말 보자력 분포도 측정, Ba-Ferrite 구조내로 dopants의 치환 능력 및 ${\alpha}-Fe$의 산화거동을 연구하는데 사용될 수 있다.

화염분무열분해법을 이용한 TiO2:Fe,V 나노분말의 제조 및 VOCs 분해 특성 (Preparation of TiO2:Fe,V nanoparticles by flame spray pyrolysis and photocatalytic degradation of VOCs)

  • Fe- and V-doped titanium dioxide nanoparticles consisting of spherical primary nanoparticles were synthesized from a mixed liquid precursor by using the flame spray pyrolysis. The effects of dopant concentration on the powder properties such as morphology, crystal structure, and light adsorption were analyzed by TEM, XRD, and UV-Vis spectrophotometer, respectively. As the V/Ti molar ratio increased, pure anatase particles were synthesized. On the contrary, rutile phase particles were synthesized as the Fe/Ti ratio increased. Photocatalytic property of as-prepared $TiO_2:Fe,V$ nanoparticles was investigated by measuring the removal efficiency for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) under the irradiation of visible light. After 2 hrs under visible light, the removal efficiencies of benzene, p-xylene, ethylbenzene, and toluene were reached to 21.9%, 21.4%, 19.8% and 17.6% respectively.

Investigation of a New Red-Emitting, Eu3+-Activated MgAl2O4 Phosphor

  • MgAl2O4:Eu3+ red-light emitting powder phosphor was prepared at temperature as low as 500 oC within a few minutes by using the combustion route. The prepared powder was characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and Fourier-transform infrared spectrometry. The luminescence of Eu3+-activated MgAl2O4 shows a strong red emission dominant peak around 611 nm, which can be attributed to the 5D0-7F2 transition of Eu3+ ions from the synthesized phosphor particles under excitation (394 nm). Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) measurements at the X-band showed that no signal could be attributed to Eu2+ ions in MgAl2O4.
