Modern military operations rely heavily on broadband communication and data transmission. Recently, the rising use of intelligent unmanned technology necessitates more frequencies. Free-space optical(FSO) communication can offer high-data-rate communications with high security and no need for licensing. Therefore, the FSO communication holds significant interest and potential in the defense industry. In this paper, we present design of a FSO communication terminal taking Korean domestic weather conditions into account. The domestic atmospheric attenuation is analyzed using several models and two-year meteorological information for a city in Korea, and this analysis is utilized to design the FSO communication terminal. The design results were verified using an FSO communication test bed, and we achieved an Ethernet bandwidth of approximately 1.86 Gbps at a distance of 1.3 km with the optical amplifier output power of the test bed set to about 20 dBm.

Domestic distribution market is in a time of transition for the present. With consumers' diverse demands, the growth of department stores, shopping malls, specialized shops and so on has been taken place radically and the competition among them also has become severe. In order to promptly and positively cope with the radically changing trend of market and the generation of competing business entities, they are necessary to establish a discriminated indoor space plan. With such desires as the expansion of leisure activities based on the increase of personal income and the up-gradation, diversification and individualization of living standard based on economic growth, the dining-out space, one of people's life environments, need a variety of changes. In the past, the specialized restaurants of composite shopping malls and department stores were a mere mediating space of food sale between producers and consumers, but today they become a discriminated and creative indoor space which representing customers' lifestyle. The purpose of this study was to examine the characteristic of public space of specialized restaurants at composite shopping malls and department stores and then present a discriminated spatial marketing strategy in order to find out the direction of its proceeding in the future. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to work out basic data for the development of dining-out contents at the time of appearing diverse composite dining-out spaces in the future and of establishing a renovation plan of specialized restaurants at composite shopping malls and department stores in order to provide customers a space which could satisfy their desires. In this vein, the characteristic and composition of necessary space was analyzed based on the examination of cases. The investigator hopes that study findings are used as basic data for the study on the interrelationship between the sale space and dining-out space of composite commercial facilities and for the establishment of marketing strategy to attract customers.

There would be a long-waited launch of a Korean space launch vehicle(KSLV-I) in NARO Space Center which is located in Goheung, Jeol La Nam Do in Korea. Korea would be the nineth country in the world which could launch space launch vehicle itself. The launch of the 2nd technology satellite of 100kg with KSLV-I would give Korean hope and dream. In addition to the traditional space activities of U.S.A. and Russia, Japan launched the lunar satellite, Kaguya in 2007, China launched the lunar satellite, Change and succeeded in space walk and India launched the lunar satellite Chandrayaan in October, 2008. In this paper we study on the trend of domestic and international development of space launch vehicle considering all these space development activities.

Although women's status in society have been improving, the existing space for women's main activities is still perceived as limited in scope. In this respect, this study analyzes the domestic literature on women's space and discusses the space for women with intent to gain some implications for further studies on space associated with women. Articles on women's space were sub-classified in light of keywords, years of publication, sites, purposes, methods and journal categories, followed by network and frequency analyses. In addition, focus group interview was conducted to explore a new orientation for further studies. The degree centrality was found high in such keywords as 'women's clinics', 'CPTED', 'women-friendly cities' and 'femininity'. In addition, there is a paucity of studies on women's space. Recent studies have diversified the scope of women's space. At the same time, macroscopic 'urban' approaches to women's space have lately been emerging. Finally, the focus group interview on women's space highlighted the needs to further studies about 'femininity, 'maternity', and 'gender equality' in space, and 'safe environment'.

The academic library has the ideal environment as a facilitator of knowledge creation, as a space where researchers can collaborate and as a creation hub center on campus. Recently, based on the 4th Industrial Revolution and creative theories, the maker space is gradually being introduced into academic libraries in foreign countries. Maker Space of the academic library is the best place to discover new knowledge and interests, practice, and interdisciplinary education. In this study, we propose a plan to introduce the maker space of domestic university libraries through case studies of domestic and overseas university and university libraries.

It suggests a closet design for infants in consideration of space utilization, furniture arrangement, and goods storage by integrating a baby's closet and toy chest, which was used for storage of baby's toys and play instrument. For this, it conducted and analyzed data research on the infants' toy chests in the domestic and overseas market and based on such approach, the colors that helped development of infants' cognition and emotion were selected while suggesting familiar animal characters for infants. Without considering separate arrangement of furniture and toy chest within limited space, it allowed space utilization and provided enough storing space. Also, the attached ball casters enabled easy carry of the closet and with this function, it helps infants arrange and store goods by themselves so that making them feel a sense of accomplishment. For effective spatial utilization as well as security of its genuine storage function, the closet and toy chest were combined in this study. Thus, it is believed that development of such multifunctional furniture will suggest the direction of researches on domestic furniture development that are conducted to maximize utilization of residential space for the people living today.

The purpose of this study is to elucidate the formation process and spatial characteristics of the first and largest open port of Foreign Settlement in Yokohama, Japan. Based on the reference records and maps, we traced the process of modernization, example of opening the park and introduction of technology, industrial & infra-structural facilities. And found out the characteristics of formation process of port city Yokohama as the modernized city. The results of this study are as follows: First, the spatial characteristics and significance of the public space of the port open space; second, the difference of the road and parcel systems between the Japanese and the foreign settlements; and third, the meaning of the port open space as the space of separation in that times. These experiences about the open port in Yokohama could be worked as the basic for domestic and colonial city planning.

This study focuses on the satellite licenses and the requirements for satellite spectrum management (i.e. frequency allocation) in Korean satellite industry via comparative analyses against those cases in other developed countries, in order to provide complementary measures to the domestic satellite policies. The satellite industry is one of the main pursuits of a nation's efforts, and it shows distinct characteristics depending on various factors such as national defense and security. In addition, the industry is determined by the nation's market size as well as its international relationship. Consequently, the present study considers examples from various organizations and nations - including U.S.A, Japan, and ITU - and provides a hybrid policy that is well customized for the domestic market. This study looks at similarities between policies of other countries, and finds any supplements for domestic polices by specifying similar cases in others and analyzing their results. The main purpose of this study, therefore, is to find the best agreement for domestic policy with internal interpretation, rather accepting others. While the licensing method for domestic satellites need not be distinct from that of other nations, the case of using non-Korean licensed satellites must be complemented by the conditions in the domestic market. Furthermore, the spectrum management is essential to the nation's satellite industry since the spectrum is a scarce resource. As such, spectrum management that is carefully designed to incorporate the rapidly changing international market demand is crucial to provide a sufficient supply for domestic space industry. In the present study, we find that auction-like market based approaches together with measures to avoid exclusive uses of the scarce resource (e.g. share, leas and reallocation) would provide an excellent method for the domestic satellite industry.

In order to observe the deep space more efficiently, a satellite installed with a telescope on earth is needed. Advanced countries in space such as U.S.A and E.U. etc. have obtained and analyzed informations and images of the space from Hubble telescope, Kepler space observatory and Herschel space observatory. This paper studied specifications and operation status of space observation satellite of the several foreign countries and described technologies and plans for the domestic deep space observation satellite.
