  • Labeling schemes which don't consider about frequent update in dynamic XML documents need relabeling process to reflect the changed label information whenever the tree of XML document is update. There is disadvantage of considerable expenses in the dynamic XML document which can occurs frequent update. To solve this problem, we suggest prime number labeling scheme that doesn't need relabeling process. However the prime number labeling scheme does not consider that it needs to update the sibling order of nodes in the tree of XML document. This update process needs much costs because the most of the tree of XML document has to be researched and rewritten. In this paper, we propose the prime number labeling scheme with sibling order value that can maintain the sibling order without researching or rewriting the tree of XML documents.

  • An IR(information retrieval) index for dynamic document databases where insertion, deletion, and update of documents happen frequently should be frequently updated. As the conventional structure of IR index is, however, focused on the information retrieval purpose, its structure is inefficient to handle dynamic update of it. In this paper, we propose a new structure for IR Index, we call it Index Graph, which is organized by connecting multiple indexes into a graph structure. By analysis and experiment, we prove the Index Graph is superior to the conventional structure of IR index in the performance of insertion, deletion, and update of documents as well as the performance of information retrieval.

  • Recently, several works have been proposed for updating XML documents[l-3] stored in databases. These researches defined update operations and resolved some semantic problems. Because the update operations are usually validated after execution, several conflicts nay occur. For solving these conflicts, XML database systems must be able to validate an update operation immediately according to DTD before the update operation is executed. Furthermore, in many studies for updating, they just validate whole XML documents and can't validate parts of them. If updates are very frequent, validating whole XML documents will cause performance degradation. In this paper, we propose solutions for these two problems. We extract and store DTD information. Then, when an XML document stored in the database is updated, we verifies whether the update is valid or not by using the information. Consequently, XML database systems can always maintain valid XML documents. The validity of update operations is checked immediately before the actual update operation is applied to the database and the validation is performed on only updated parts of an XML document in the database.

  • The Resource Description Framework(RDF), which emerged with the semantic web, is settling down as a standard for representing information about the resources in the World Wide Web Hence, a lot of research on storing and query processing RDF documents has been done and several RDF storage systems, such as Sesame and Jena, have been developed. But the research on updating RDF documents is still insufficient. When a RDF document is changed, data in the RDF triple store also needs to be updated. However, current RDF triple stores don't support incremental update. So updating can be peformed only by deleting the old version and then storing the new document. This updating method is very inefficient because RDF documents are steadily updated. Furthermore, it makes worse when several RDF documents are stored in the same database. In this paper, we propose an incremental update algorithm on RDF, documents in triple stores. We use a text matching technique for two versions of a RDF document and compensate for the text matching result to find the right target triples to be updated. We show that our approach efficiently update RDF documents through experiments with real-life RDF datasets.

  • XML is widely used in various applications as the standard for representing and exchanging data on the Web. XML Schema is the standard schema for XML and an XML document generated based on the XML Schema is called 'Valid XML document'. The XML Schema validity should be guaranteed after the XML document is updated. In this paper, we design an efficient method that verifies XML Schema validity before update, and so eliminates unnecessary validations. Also, we propose validation algorithms for each update. In addition, we propose the mapping between XML data and XML Schema and a storage method for XML Schema in order to efficiently extract the schema information for the validation. Finally, we compare the performance of the validation according to the storage methods.

  • In rapidly changing an information=oriented society, it is essential to control massive document information by electronic file. In relation to these electronic document, it is also important to keep and maintain all kinds of information without any losses. It should be allowed to trace previous contents as well as recently updated contents by controlling updated contents with version. For these, XML is recommendable. In this thesis, we intend to save the document storing space by saving only updated contents with version without saving whole documentation, when document is updated. In case of controlling the history of document update by version, we designed system so as to omit "JOIN operation" if document size is under a certainspecific size. Therefore, we implemented a new XML document repository system which is possible for quick search and efficient XML document saving by reducing perfomance deterioration caused by JOIN operation.

  • XML document repositary system(XDRS) should be able to manage vertical and horizontal versions of documents to store, update and manage XML documents without loss of information, However, most of existing XDRSs do not support a versioning method Although a few systems support versioning method. they only manage vertical versions of XML documents, While the vertical versioning preserves the update history of documents. the horizontal versioning branches a document to many other versions of documents so that users can easily create new documents from the original version and edit them to have different meanings. In this paper, we propose a new version numbering scheme to support both vertical and horizontal versioning efficiently. We also design a schema that supports versioning and preserves the paradigm of structure information.

  • Recently, a lot of index techniques for storing and querying XML document have been studied so far and many researches of them used coordinate-based methods. But update operation and query processing to express structural relations among elements, attributes and texts make a large burden. In this paper, we propose an efficient BitmapInvert index technique based on Relative Position Coordinate (RPC). RPC has good preformance even if there are frequent update operations because it represents relationship among parent node and left, right sibling nodes. BitmapInvert index supports tort query with bitwise operations and does not casue serious performance degradations on update operations using PostUpdate algerian. Overall, the performance could be improved by reduction of the number of times for traversing nodes.
