  • In the modern rapid growing web era, the scope of web publication is about accessing the web resources. Due to the increased size of web, the search engines face many challenges, in indexing the web pages as well as producing result to the user query. Methodologies discussed in literatures towards clustering web documents suffer in producing higher clustering accuracy. Problem is mitigated using, the proposed scheme, Semantic Conceptual Relational Similarity (SCRS) based clustering algorithm which, considers the relationship of any document in two ways, to measure the similarity. One is with the number of semantic relations of any document class covered by the input document and the second is the number of conceptual relation the input document covers towards any document class. With a given data set Ds, the method estimates the SCRS measure for each document Di towards available class of documents. As a result, a class with maximum SCRS is identified and the document is indexed on the selected class. The SCRS measure is measured according to the semantic relevancy of input document towards each document of any class. Similarly, the input query has been measured for Query Relational Semantic Score (QRSS) towards each class of documents. Based on the value of QRSS measure, the document class is identified, retrieved and ranked based on the QRSS measure to produce final population. In both the way, the semantic measures are estimated based on the concepts available in semantic ontology. The proposed method had risen efficient result in indexing as well as search efficiency also has been improved.

  • K-means clustering algorithm is a very popular clustering technique, which is used in the field of information retrieval. In this paper, We deal with the problem of K-means Algorithm from the view of creating the centroids and suggest a method reflecting document feature and considering the context of each document to determine the new centroids during the process of forming new centroids. For experiment, We used the automatic document summarizer to summarize the Reuter21578 newslire test dataset and achieved 20% improved results to the recall metrics.

  • We can organize, manage, search, and process the documents efficiently by a document clustering. In general, the documents are clustered in a high dimensional feature space because the documents consist of many terms. In this paper, we propose a new method to cluster the documents efficiently in a low dimensional feature space by finding the core concepts from a domain ontology corresponding to the particular area documents. The experiment shows that our clustering method has a good performance.

  • With the rapid advance of computer and communication techonology, the recent trend of education environment is edveloping in the ubiquitous learning (u-learning) direction that learners select and organize the contents, time and order of learning by themselves. Since the amount of education information through the internet is increasing rapidly and it is managed in document in an effective way is necessary. The document clustering is integrated documents to subject by classifying a set of documents through their similarity among them. Accordingly, the document clustering can be used in exploring and searching a document and it can increased accuracy of search. This paper proposes an efficient incremental clustering method for a set of documents increase gradually. The incremental document clustering algorithm assigns a set of new documents to the legacy clusters which have been identified in advance. In addition, to improve the correctness of the clustering, removing the stop words can be proposed.

  • With respect to the exponential increment of web documents on the internet, it is important how to improve performance of clustering method for web documents. Web document clustering techniques can offer accurate information and fast information retrieval by clustering web documents through semantic relationship. The clustering method based on mesh-graph provides high recall by calculating similarity for documents, but it requires high computation cost. This paper proposes a clustering method using hyperlinks which is structural feature of web documents in order to keep effectiveness and reduce computation cost.

  • There are various problems while applying classification or clustering algorithm in that document classification which requires post processing or classification after getting as a web search result due to my keyword. Among those, two problems are severe. The first problem is the need to categorize the document with the help of the expert. And, the second problem is the long processing time the document classification takes. Therefore we propose a new method of web document clustering which can dramatically decrease the number of times to calculate a document similarity using the Transitive Closure Tree(TCT) and which is able to speed up the processing without loosing the precision. We also compare the effectivity of the proposed method with those existing algorithms and present the experimental results.

  • In this study, measures of distributional similarity such as KL-divergence are applied to cluster documents instead of traditional cosine measure, which is the most prevalent vector similarity measure for document clustering. Three variations of KL-divergence are investigated; Jansen-Shannon divergence, symmetric skew divergence, and minimum skew divergence. In order to verify the contribution of distributional similarities to document clustering, two experiments are designed and carried out on three test collections. In the first experiment the clustering performances of the three divergence measures are compared to that of cosine measure. The result showed that minimum skew divergence outperformed the other divergence measures as well as cosine measure. In the second experiment second-order distributional similarities are calculated with Pearson correlation coefficient from the first-order similarity matrixes. From the result of the second experiment, secondorder distributional similarities were found to improve the overall performance of document clustering. These results suggest that minimum skew divergence must be selected as document vector similarity measure when considering both time and accuracy, and second-order similarity is a good choice for considering clustering accuracy only.

  • Digital documents such as patents, scholarly papers and research reports have author keywords which summarize the topics of documents. Different documents are likely to describe the same topic if they share the same keywords. Document clustering aims at clustering documents to similar topics with an unsupervised learning method. However, it is difficult to apply to a large amount of documents event though the document clustering is utilized to in various data analysis due to computational complexity. In this case, we can cluster and connect massive documents using keywords efficiently. Existing bottom-up hierarchical clustering requires huge computation and time complexity for clustering a large number of keywords. This paper proposes an inverted index based bottom-up clustering for keywords and analyzes the results of clustering with massive keywords extracted from scholarly papers and research reports.

  • This study is to develop a hierarchic clustering model fur document classification and browsing in OPAC systems. Two automatic indexing techniques (with and without controlled terms), two term weighting methods (based on term frequency and binary weight), five similarity coefficients (Dice, Jaccard, Pearson, Cosine, and Squared Euclidean). and three hierarchic clustering algorithms (Between Average Linkage, Within Average Linkage, and Complete Linkage method) were tested on the document collection of 175 books and theses on library and information science. The best document clusters resulted from the Between Average Linkage or Complete Linkage method with Jaccard or Dice coefficient on the automatic indexing with controlled terms in binary vector. The clusters from Between Average Linkage with Jaccard has more likely decimal classification structure.

  • Nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) is a popular method for multivariate analysis of nonnegative data, which is to decompose a data matrix into a product of two factor matrices with all entries restricted to be nonnegative. NMF was shown to be useful in a task of clustering (especially document clustering), but in some cases NMF produces the results inappropriate to the clustering problems. In this paper, we present an algorithm for orthogonal nonnegative matrix factorization, where an orthogonality constraint is imposed on the nonnegative decomposition of a term-document matrix. The result of orthogonal NMF can be clearly interpreted for the clustering problems, and also the performance of clustering is usually better than that of the NMF. We develop multiplicative updates directly from true gradient on Stiefel manifold, whereas existing algorithms consider additive orthogonality constraints. Experiments on several different document data sets show our orthogonal NMF algorithms perform better in a task of clustering, compared to the standard NMF and an existing orthogonal NMF.
