  • In this paper, we propose an accident-prevention smart monitoring system for Haenyeo(Woman diver) using Zigbee module and GPS sensor. This system can collect such information as the diving location, the body temperature, the depth of diving, and the diving time of a Woman diver working under the water and then respond immediately to an accident occurring. The research developed a smart Teawak and smart swimming goggles which can measure the state of a Woman diver and her diving activities. Smart Teawak, the buoy tool while a Woman diver is collecting seafoods under water, is able to receive GPS and transmit the data from smart swimming goggles and Zigbee Module to IHSS(IoT based Haenyeo Safety service Software) server. In addition, IHSS, a responsive web, provides the diving location and the state of a Woman diver on the smart phone. As a result, the system will be useful in the aspects of Woman diver' health care and the safety, furthermore, which will significantly contribute to global marketing of Woman diver with its being designated as a UNESCO intangible cultural asset.

  • This study was carried out to analyze how psychological anxiety factors perceived by sky divers at the time of sky diving affect self-confidence. To that end, a survey was executed on 150 sky divers and 123 questionnaires were selected for the final analysis with SPSS v.21. Major findings of the study are as follows: first, sky divers use stretching and breathing the most to cope with stress-related symptoms; second, psychological anxiety and self-confidence were different in religion, age and the number of sky diving; third, sky divers' psychological anxiety affects self-confidence negatively. This study will contribute to developing a program to help sky divers enhance psychological coping techniques to reduce anxiety while increasing self-confidence at the time of sky diving.

  • In this paper, a springboard for diving is analysed to find out how much force a diver should apply to reach specific height when the diver jumps. The springboard is presumed to Co-rotational plane cantilever beam(CR-beam), so EDISON program related to Co-rotational framework is used. The force of the person is supposed to sine function and the demanded height is fixed. Same velocity makes same height regardless of diver's weight. So, the velocity of springboard when the feet of a diver are separated from the springboard is a main factor of the analysis. The result shows that there is no association between deformation and weight and also between velocity and weight. That is, the required force to reach a optimal height is fixed whatever the diver's weight is.

  • Currently, in Korea the scientific diving activity is being conducted without any legal basis, thus confusions arise in work coverage, equipment usage, and wage calculation etc. In this paper, introduction of scientific diver certification system is suggested to clear such confusions and to enhance the safety of scientific divers. Also the codes and regulations of foreign countries were introduced, and from the analysis of scientific diving tasks and applying skills, the hostility of the scientific diver's working environment as well as requirement of high level diving skills are explained. Finally the necessity of establishment of scientific diving regulation and introduction of diver certification system were emphasized and the promotion plan was discussed.

  • The development of high-performance underwater propulsion devices has gained importance with the expansion of recreational and industrial diving applications. This study aims to develop and validate a waterjet-type diver propulsion system capable of achieving a top speed of 3.8 knots and an operational time of over 120 minutes. Utilizing advanced modeling and simulation techniques, the design focuses on minimizing hydrodynamic resistance and optimizing buoyancy. Structural and fluid dynamic analyses were conducted to ensure the device's stability and performance under 20 atm pressure at a depth of 200 meters. The propulsion system employs a sensorless BLDC motor and a 36V lithium-ion battery pack to enhance efficiency and reliability. Field tests confirmed an average speed of 3.88 knots and a continuous operation time of 150 minutes, exceeding the initial targets. This research demonstrates significant advancements in diver propulsion technology, providing valuable insights for future underwater equipment development. The outcomes are poised to enhance the safety, efficiency, and usability of diver propulsion devices, with broader applications in marine research, environmental monitoring, and resource exploration.

  • The ocean is vital to life on earth providing needed resources, particularly for mankind Nowadays, space utilization of the ocean is burgeoning research field. In the shallow water, an underwater transportation utility for diver is an effective tool for the ocean space utilization, and a Diver Transport Vehicle(DTV) is one of those utilities. The project which started in summer of 2000 is supported by the Korea research Council of Public Science and Technology. The objective of the project is to develop design techniques for DTV integrating the available technologies of KRISO research divisions. In this, the development of DTV is introduced.

  • In this research, unlike other fishing, the diving apparatus fishery is that the diver is engaged in fishing for profits. Because it is unique fishery, conflicts can be occurred in members. So, the purpose of this research is to define the contractual relationship between the parties of the diving apparatus fishery. For example, the relationship between the owner and diver and the owner and fishing ship crew. In addition, civil liability of default on the obligation was reviewed. Also, because the trouble was occurred by illegal fishing, criminal liability of ship crash caused by illegal diving apparatus fishery was considered. As a result, It is important to notifying the necessity of some method for the status of diver and fishing ship crew in diving apparatus fishery. moreover, It is need to educate the risk of illegal fishery for the parties of diving apparatus fishery.

  • In this research, we designed a teacher professional development (PD) program where a small group of mathematics teachers could share, reflect on, and discuss their pedagogical knowledge and practices of ICT-integrated lessons, using a video annotation tool called DIVER. The main purposes of this paper are both micro and macro: to examine how the teachers were engaged in the meaning-making process in a video-based PD (micro); and to derive implications about how to design effective video-based teacher PD programs toward a teacher community of practices (macro). To examine teachers' meaning-making in the PD sessions, discourse data from a series of 10 meetings was segmented into idea units and coded to identify discourse patterns, focusing on (a) participation levels, (b) conversation topics, and (c) conversation depth. Regarding the affordance of DIVER, discourse patterns of two meetings, before and after individual annotation with DIVER were compared through qualitative vignette analysis. Overall, we found that the teacher discourse shifted the focus from surface features to deeper pedagogical issues as the PD sessions progressed. In particular, the annotation function in DIVER afforded the teachers to exercise descriptive analyses of video clips in a flexible manner, thereby helping them cognitively prepared to take interpretative and evaluative stances in face-to-face discussions with colleagues. In conclusion, deriving from our research experiences, we discuss the possibilities and challenges of designing video-based teacher PD in a school context.

  • The underwater acoustic communication has been widely applied to various objects such as ocean exploration-development and military affairs. And recently for embodiment of the communication system that is installed in a submarine and underwater work system, many studies have been progressing. This scope of the main studies in the meantime. It made it possible for a diver and a scuba diver who arc difficult to notice the situation of the outside because of staying in the water to hear a sound through a small speaker by using a ultra sound transducer that a central frequency is 32KHz after modulation of a voice to give the information of the outside. Also in case of happening an emergency to a diver in the water, it made him/her ask for help to a person in the outside by pressing a key and send a letter data to a person in the outside by using a keyboard. Through this system, it is possible to send a voice or data between the underwater and the outside and it is available to a diver or skin scuba diver.
