The purpose of this study was to know the effect of aquatic-exercise on muscle atrophy which induced by steroid injection. The forty-eight Sparague-Dawley adult male rats were assigned to the 4 groups; GroupI(distilled water injection), GroupII(steroid injection), GroupIII(distilled water injection and aquatic exercise), GroupIV(steroid injection and aquatic exercise). We observed their body weight, histological change by PAS stein. The results of this study were as follows; 1. After 2 weeks, the change of weights appeared that non-steroid injection groups increase weight and steroid injection groups decreased weight hasty. after 4 weeks, weights recovered from weight before test. It was possible to explain the change of weight by type II muscle fiber increase. 2. In histological change of muscle fibers, atrophy didn't observed in test group I, because type II muscle fibers were developed well. we observed not only injury of muscle fiber and muscle atrophy but specifically grouping type I muscle fiber in test group II. normal arrangement of muscle fibers were visible in test group and type II muscle fibers increased. we could observe muscle recovery because of type II muscle fibers increase in test group IV. therefore, it was seem that type II cell was recovering through aquatic exercise.
Phloxine B (2,4,5,7-tetrabromo-4,5,6,7-tetrachlorofluorescein disodium salt), also referred as D&C red dye no. 28, is phototoxic to many insects such as Tephritidae fruit flies. Sunlight photolysis of phloxine B in aqueous solutions was a first order kinetic reaction at low concentrations. But it turned to be more complex reactions with the increase of phloxine B concentration. The half-lives of phloxine B (6-120 ${\mu}$M) were 18-41 and 52-289 hours in oxygenated and deaerated distilled water, respectively. The photolysis rate constants increased as the phloxine B concentrations increased. The singlet oxygen formation positively correlated with the concentrations of phloxine B and humic acid in oxygenated distilled water. The formation of singlet oxygen did not stop even after the complete degradation of phloxine B, which suggested an involvement of photoproduct-mediated reactions. The results showed that singlet oxygen mediated photooxidation was a dominant reaction for phloxine B dissipation in an aqueous solution, and the self-sensitized and photoproduct-mediated reactions were also involved at the higher concentrations. Iodide and bromide ions significantly decreased phloxine B photolysis rate constants, which were in relation to the decrease of singlet oxygen formation.
This study was executed to investigate scanning electron microscopic characteristics of Korean Rhus lacquer coats. With the unrefined coat, distilled water, sodium hydroxide, acetic acid, ethyl alcohol, cold-check test, and accelerated weathering were performed after refining treatment. These treated lacquer coats were discussed through observation by scanning electron microscope and the obtained results were summarized as follows: 1. Compared with unrefined coat, the refined coat of Korean Rhus lacquer showed more even surface with regular distribution of dispression. 2. Korean Rhus lacquer coat heated at $120^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours revealed no observable difference irrespective of refining and unrefining. 3. Korean Rhus lacquer coat treated by distilled water, sodium hydroxide, acetic acid. ethyl alcohol, cold-check test. and ultraviolet radiation showed significant characteristics compared with untreated coat. Especially. large deformation and checkings were observed by cold-check test and ultraviolet radiation respectively. 4. The Korean Rhus lacquer coat radiated by ultraviolet ray showed 0.11 duller and 1.41 brighter than non-radiated coat through color difference calculator.
Printing papers published in between 1950's and 1990's were treated with three methods such as distilled water washing, $CaCO_3$ solution washing and methyl cellulose solution coating for improving their conservational properties. Accelerated aging with $80^{\circ}C$ and 80% RH for 14 days was applied to the testing papers. Results showed that distilled water and $CaCO_3$ washing kept increased pH even after accelerated aging, but did not improve folding endurances for 1950's-60's papers. Methyl cellulose treatment did not increased pH of the old papers, but increased folding endurances remarkably for 1950's-60's papers even after accelerated aging. It suggests that methyl cellulose treatment after $CaCO_3$ washing should give improvements both in pH and folding endurance.
The tensile properties, acetic acid solubility and degree of swelling in distilled water of cellulose/chitosan and sericin/chitosan film blended by mixing chitosan acetic acid solution with cellulose solution or sericin solution were investigated and the effect of crosslinking agent on solubility and degree of swelling were also considered. From the experimental results, the model of intermolecular bond is proposed. Tensile modulus of 100% cellulose film is high but the tensile strength and elongation are low. The elongation of 100% chitosan film is high but tensile modulus and strength is low. But it is possible to make film having same or higher tensile strength and modulus compared to that of 100% cellulose film by mixing cellulose and chitosan or by mixing sericin and chitosan. Chitosan is solved in 5vol % acetic acid solution but cellulose and sericin are not solved. Degree of swelling of chitosan in distilled water is higher than that of cellulose and sericin. Lower than 40wt% chitosan content, the solubility of cellulose/chitosan film in 5vol % acetic acid solution shows lower expected value but higher in case of sericin/chitosan film.
In organic agriculture, choose of effective and cheap bio-pesticide is very important. The authors developed an insecticidal extract from neem cake, waste of neem oil from kernel, and applied as a bio-pesticide. Bio-pesticide neem cake extracts experiment on cabbage pest was carried out at Wonju Agricultural Technology and Extension Center from 11 March to 30 May 2003. There were six treatments with three replications, using completely randomized design. Treatments involved three and six sprays of synthetic pyrethroid pesticide cypermethrin 10 EC at the dilution rate of 2.2 mL $L^{-1}$ of distilled water and four, five and six sprays of bio-pesticide neem at the dilution rate of 13.3 mL $L^{-1}$ of distilled water, and untreated control. For each treatment, designated sprayings were done at 7 days interval. Pre-spray data showed that the plants in all the experimental plots were already infested with aphid (Aphis gossypii), and diamondback moth (Pluetella xylostella). The results indicated that all neem pesticide treatments were more effective in insecticidal activity than the untreated control and the chemical treatments in controlling aphids and diamondback moth. Among the three neem treatments, there were no significant differences between them.
Cadmium selenide (CdSe) nanoparticles with the diameter of about 3.4nm have been synthesized from the mixed aqueous solution of distilled water and diethanolamine at room temperature. The cadmium chloride ($CdCl_2$), sodium selenosulfate ($Na_2SeSO_3$) were used as the cadmium and selenium source, respectively. The properties of CdSe nanoparticles were characterized by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and UV-Vis measurements. CdSe nanoparticles were analyzed to be cubic phase with the absorption excition peaks between 540 and 600 nm. CdSe nanoparticles also showed red-shifted excition peaks with increasing the sonication time. This paper mainly presents the sonication effects on the formation of CdSe nanoparticles prepared from the mixed aqueous solution of distilled water and diethanolamine.
In order to investigate the effect of Korean green tea, oolong tea and black tea beverage on the antioxidative detoxification in cadmium(Cd) poisoned rat liver, male Sprague-Dawley rat weighing 143$\pm$3.2g were divided into control and experimental groups. The experimental groups were fed standard diet containing 40ppm Cd and were given distilled water(CD), 5% black tea(BT), oolong tea(OT) and green tea(GT), respectively. Tea beverages were extracted from 5G dry leaves of teas in 100ml hot distilled water by the treatment at 85$^{\circ}C$ for 3 min. Liver xanthine oxidase(XOD) activity was increased by the administration of Cd except GT group. Liver superoxide dismutase(SOD), glutathione peroxidase(GSH-px), glutathione S-transferase(GST) activities were decreased by te administration of Cd but did not decreased by the administration of green tea(in GT group). Vitamin E and reduced glutathione contents were significantly decreased in Cd administered groups. Liver lipid peroxide value in Cd administered groups were increased compared to control group, but was not increased in GT group. Serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase(GOT) activities in CD, OT, BT groups were higher than control, but that in GT group was similar to control group. Serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase(GPT) activity was not significantly different among various groups. It was concluded that green tea might alleviate peroxidative damage in Cd-administered rat liver by reinforcing antioxidative detoxification system.
The effects of salt concentration on the qualities of cooked egg preparations were evaluated. Diluted egg samples which contained different amounts of slat were prepared by diluting whole egg fluid with rice washing, anchovy stock , or distilled water. After heating them rapidly, hardness, gel strength, and amount of syneresis were determined along with the performance of sensory test. the pH of the diluted eggs also measured before heating. Results obtained from these experiments are summarized in the following. 1. The pH of whole egg, egg yolk, and egg white was 7.32, 6.31, and 8.41 , respectively. 2. The pH whole eggs after addition of diluting solutions and salt showed a little differences over the whole salt concentration as follows. distilled water dilution > anchovy stock dilution > rice washing dilution 3. The hardness and gel strength of cooked samples were increased with the increase of salt concentration in the range of low salt concentrations of all diluting solution. These physical properties marked maximal values at salt concentration of 3% and then decreased as salt concentration increased. 4. Amount of syneresis decreased as salt concentration increased regardless of all diluting solutions used. 5. In sensory test, 1% salt concentration were scored good by the panel members regardless of diluting solutions which showed no significant difference among three diluting solutions.
Dental porcelain should have adequate strength and similar esthetics as natural teeth. Recently esthetics has become a high priority in clinical dentistry. Thus the evaluation of color stability of dental porcelain has become an important part in dental research. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the difference in color stability of 3 types of porcelain(Vintage, VMK 95, CERAMCO II). The porcelain were divided into groups by 2 types of treatment(glazing or non-glazing and thermocycling or non-thermocycling). The porcelain were dyed with methylene blue and distilled water, and then the color stability was evaluated with a spectrophotometer The results were as follows; 1. The color change of porcelain increased in the order of VMK 95, Vintage, CERAMCO II. But there was no significant difference. 2. The color change decreased in the glazing group compared to the non-glazing group(p<0.05). 3. The color change increased after thermocycling But there was no significant difference. 4. The color change according to dye method was significantly larger with methylene blue copared to distilled water(p<0.05).
