버블 잉크젯에서의 기포성장 및 액적분사에 관한 수치적 연구 (Numerical Study on Bubble Growth and Droplet Ejection in a Bubble Inkjet Printer)

  • The droplet ejection process driven by an evaporating bubble in a thermal inkjet printhead is investigated by numerically solving the conservation equations for mass, momentum and energy. The phase interfaces are tracked by a level set method which is modified to include the effect of phase change at the interface and extended for multiphase flows with irregular solid boundaries. The compressibility effect of a bubble is also included in the analysis to appropriately describe the bubble expansion behaviour associated with the high pressure caused by bubble nucleation. The whole process of bubble growth and collapse as well as droplet ejection during thermal inkjet printing is simulated without employing a simplified semi-empirical bubble growth model. Based on the numerical results, the jet breaking and droplet formation behaviour is observed to depend strongly on the bubble growth and collapse pattern. Also, the effects of liquid viscosity, surface tension and nozzle geometry are quantified from the calculated bubble growth rate and ink droplet ejection distance.

Corridor Navigation of the Mobile Robot Using Image Based Control

  • In this paper, the wall following navigation algorithm of the mobile robot using a mono vision system is described. The key points of the mobile robot navigation system are effective acquisition of the environmental information and fast recognition of the robot position. Also, from this information, the mobile robot should be appropriately controlled to follow a desired path. For the recognition of the relative position and orientation of the robot to the wall, the features of the corridor structure are extracted using the mono vision system, then the relative position, the offset distance and steering angle of the robot from the wall, is derived for a simple corridor geometry. For the alleviation of the computation burden of the image processing, the Kalman filter is used to reduce search region in the image space for line detection. Next, the robot is controlled by this information to follow the desired path. The wall following control scheme by the PD control scheme is composed of two control parts, the approaching control and the orientation control, and each control is performed by steering and forward-driving motion of the robot. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, the real time navigation experiments are performed. Through the result of the experiments, the effectiveness and flexibility of the suggested algorithm are verified in comparison with a pure encoder-guided mobile robot navigation system.

포뮬러 형태의 자작자동차 설계 및 제작 (Design and Manufacture of a Hand-made Vehicle Based on a Formula)

  • A hand-made vehicle with a formula (VF-1) was designed and manufactured with the aim of realizing a lightweight and high-performance vehicle. The driver's body weight and stiffness of the frame were considered. The vehicle was equipped with a one-cylinder Exiv 250 engine with intake manifold potting for realizing weight reduction, high performance, and low cost. The suspension system for the formula was designed through the analyses and tests of vehicle motion and equipment. In a steering system, anti-Ackerman geometry was introduced to increase the transverse force during cornering. A full electric paddle shift system was adopted to decrease the braking distance. For protection against the distortion and warping of the frame, tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding technology was used.

  • 충돌제트는 미사일 또는 수직/단거리 이착륙기의 배기가스가 지면이나 화염 편향기 등에 부딪힐 때 발생하며 노즐의 형상, 노즐과 평판과의 거리등에 따라 유동양상이 달라진다. 본 연구에서는 초음속 노즐을 통해 과소 팽창된 제트가 평판에 부딪힐 때 형성되는 평판 압력분포 및 버블 발생 등에 대한 시험결과를 선행된 충격파 풍동을 이용한 시험 결과와 비교하고 초음속 유동시험장치 이용시의 유동 특성을 규명하였다. 초음속 유동시험장치와 충격파 풍동의 평판에서 압력분포는 저압 챔버 내의 수분과 온도 때문에 차이가 나타났고 과소 팽창비에 따른 압력분포는 서로 유사한 경향을 보여주었다.

터빈의 피치 간격이 가스터빈 엔진 성능에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Turbine Blade Pitch on the Gas Turbine Engine Performance)

  • CFD 기반으로 개발한 가스터빈 엔진 모사 프로그램을 바탕으로 간단한 엔진 모델의 성능을 모사해보았다. 2D NS 코드를 사용하여 압축기와 터빈을 모사하고, lumped method 화학 평형 코드를 사용하여 연소기를 모사하였다. 압축기, 터빈에서의 동익, 정익간의 상호 비정상 유동 현상은 mixing-plane 기법으로 정상 상태 해석을 수행하였다. 이러한 방법으로 정상 작동 상태에서의 터빈 익렬의 피치 간격이 엔진에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 연구 결과, 터빈의 피치 간격이 좁아질수록 압축기는 더 높은 압력에서 작동하는 것을 확인하였다.

  • 컴퓨터 그래픽스나 기하 정보 분석 및 검색 등의 애플리케이션에서 일반적인 octree가 널리 사용된다. 그러나 거리장 등 공간에 분포하는 특정한 연속 정보를 샘플링하기 위한 목적으로 일반적인 octree를 적용할 경우 샘플링 데이터 중복과 샘플링 지점과 표현 단위의 불일치가 발생한다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위해 dual octree가 제안된 바 있다. 본 논문에서는 dual octree가 일반적인 octree의 단점은 해결했으나 무한하게 분할을 수행하더라도 특정한 연속 영역에 액세스하지 못한다는 사실을 증명하고 이러한 모든 문제들을 해결할 수 있는 대안으로 Lefebvre와 Hoppe가 제안한 primal tree를 응용할 수 있음을 제시한다. 또한 트리 구조의 병렬화에 널리 사용되는 Morton code를 응용한 3차원 primal tree 검색 알고리즘을 제안한다.

  • The transducers used in active sonar on surface ships are packed in a specific geometry in the array drum in order to meet the requirements such as the source level, directional beam pattern, etc. This paper describes the acoustic characteristics of the cylindrical array which is based on a 64 vertical staves arrangement, each stave composed 5 independent transducers. Firstly, the single transducer on the rigid baffle in the water is analyzed with the Finite Element Method. From the result of the FE analysis nodal velocities on the radiation surface is calculated and used with the boundary conditions of the transducers mounted on the array drum. Then the acoustic pressure is calculated in the field points using the Boundary Element Method and the other acoustic informations, the source level, beam pattern, near field and far-field distance, were acquired.

경사진 출구면에서 드릴 버 형성에 관한 실험적 고찰 (Experiment Analysis of the Burr Formation on the Inclined Exit Surface in Drilling)

  • An Experiment was carried out to find the scheme far minimization of burr formation on inclined exit surface in drilling. Several drills with different geometry are used for drilling the workpiece with inclined exit surface. Step drills are specified with step angle and step size. The influence of the inclination angle of exit surface on burr formation was observed, which enables to analyze the burr formation mechanism on inclined exit surface. Along the edge on the inclined exit surface, burrs are formed by the bending deflection to feed direction and also burrs are formed in exit direction of cutting edge. To minimize the burr formed in feed direction, the corner angle which is formed by the inclination angle and step angle must be large enough not to be bent to burr. By decreasing step angle of drill and decreasing the distance between two axes of two holes, burr formation at the intersecting holes can be minimized. Burr formation mechanisms are analyzed according to the drill geometries and cutting conditions. Several schemes far burr minimization on inclined exit surface were proposed.

밀폐된 복도 공간내의 연기 거동에 관한 연구 (A Study of Smoke Movement in an Enclosed Corridor.)

  • 건물 공간에 대한 연기 거동을 해석하기 위한 많은 실험이나 수치해석이 이루어져 왔고 그 중 공간과 공간을 연결해주는 복도 공간에 대한 연기거동을 해석하는 것 또한 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 3차원 비 정렬 격자계, PISO 알고리즘, 부력 Plume 모델을 이용한 Field 모델을 이용하여 복도 공간에 대한 수치해석을 수행하여 얻은 온도장과 유동장 및 변수를 연기 퍼짐 시간과 연충 온도, 천장제트속도로 계산하여 한국기계연구원에서 실험한 결과와 비교하였다. 또한 Hinkley가 제안한 평균 연층 속도와 계산된 연층 속도를 비교하였다. 복도 공간 내에서 Soffit 주위의 유동특성을 파악하고 천장세트의 속도가 복도 향상, 화원으로부터의 거리, 발열량등에 영향을 받는다는 사실을 보여준다.

포인트 클라우드를 이용한 파이프라인 연결 자동 모델링에 관한 연구 (A Study on Automatic Modeling of Pipelines Connection Using Point Cloud)

  • Manual 3D pipeline modeling from LiDAR scanned point cloud data is laborious and time-consuming process. This paper presents a method to extract the pipe, elbow and branch information which is essential to the automatic modeling of the pipeline connection. The pipe geometry is estimated from the point cloud data through the Hough transform and the elbow position is calculated by the medial axis intersection for assembling the nearest pair of pipes. The branch is also created for a pair of pipe segments by estimating the virtual points on one pipe segment and checking for any feasible intersection with the other pipe's endpoint within the pre-defined range of distance. As a result of the automatic modeling, a complete 3D pipeline model is generated by connecting the extracted information of pipes, elbows and branches.
