Face recognition is an extensively researched area of computer vision. Visible, infrared, thermal, and 3D modalities have been used against various challenges of face recognition such as illumination, pose, expression, partial information, and disguise. In this paper we present a multi-modal approach to face recognition using convolutional neural networks. We use visible and thermal face images as two separate inputs to a multi-input deep learning network for face recognition. The experiments are performed on IRIS visible and thermal face database and high face verification rates are achieved.

Primary intrapulmonary thymomas (PITs) are defined as thymomas arising in intrapulmonary locations, without an associated mediastinal component. They are rare lesions, the diagnosis of which can be very difficult. We present a case of PIT in an asymptomatic 74-year-old woman in whom pulmonary nodules were found on pulmonary angiography performed for an episode of pulmonary embolism. She underwent wedge resection and the pathology report revealed a PIT. We also summarize this patient's clinicopathological features and discuss the diagnosis, pathogenesis, and treatment of PIT.

Major news organizations in Korea are often accused of intentionally conspiring to advance conservative agendas under the disguise of unbiased reporting. Critics suspect that headlines are frequently abused for a certain framing effect. The widespread use of direct quotation is cited as one area of the abuse in headlines. The present study is an attempt to determine whether the criticism is based on facts. We conducted two separate surveys. First, the headlines on three major Korean newspapers were compared with those on The New York Times, Washington Post, and The Times. Then, we collected from Korean and English speakers factivity judgements for the sentences containing a direct quotation. The results confirm previous studies that Korean newspapers engage in a heavy use of direct quotation in headlines. Moreover, the results partially confirm the popular perception that the common use of direct quotation is a recent phenomenon in Korea. Finally, the study finds that both groups of speakers consider direct quotations more truthful than factive sentences.

Panax ginseng is one of the most important medicinal plant in the Orient. The international trade of ginseng is increasing yearly. The disguise of Chinese and American ginseng into Korean ginseng became a problem in recent years in Korea and an abroad. Obviously, an effective method of authentication of Korean ginseng from others at a DNA level, is necessary for the healthy development of the ginseng market. In order to develop convenient and reproducible methods for the identification of Korean ginseng, amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) analysis was applied within Panax species (Korean cultivatied and wild ginseng, Chinese wild ginseng, American cultivatied and wild ginseng). Ultrasonic sensors are widely used in various applications due to advantages of low cost, simplicity in construction, mechanical robustness, and little environmental restriction in usage. But the main purposes of the noncontact sensing are rather narrowly confined within object detection and distance measurement. For the application of object recognition, ultrasonic sensors exhibit several shortcomings of poor directionality which results in low spatial resolution of objects, and specularity which gives frequent erroneous range readings. To resolve these problems in object recognition, an array of the sensor has been used. To improve the spatial resolution, more number of sensors are used in essence throughout the various devices of the sensor arrays. Under the disguise of a fixed number of the sensors, the array can be shifted mechanically in several steps. In this paper we propose a practical sensor resolution enhancement method using an electronic circuit accompanying the sensor array. The circuit changes the transmitter output voltage in several steps. Using the known sensor characteristics, a set of different return echo signals provide enhanced spatial resolution. The improvement is obtained with neither the cost of the increased number of the sensors nor extra mechanical devices.

The purpose of this study was to examine the proximity of clothing to self and proximity of cosmetic to self by Degree of Cosmetics. The scales used in this study include the arranged on the basis of Sontag (1978) 's study for proximity of clothing to self, and the scale developed by the researcher for proximity of cosmetic to self. The subjects of this study were 885 adult women in Taegu. The data collected were analyzed by using MANOVA, ANOVA, and the Cronbach a was also applied. The results of this study were summarized as follows: 1. The persons with high degree of cosmetics showed high degrees of joy of change, self-value expression, novelty, self-consciousness and consciousness to others in the sub-factors of proximity of clothing to self, while there was not significant difference in physical satisfaction. 2. The persons with high degree of cosmetics showed high degrees of social confidence, skin care, joy of change, self-satisfaction, instrument of disguise in the sub-factors of proximity of cosmetic to self.

A major cause of missing permanent incisors is congenital abscence and extraction because of trauma and pathologic condition. The request for restoration of missing or spaced anterior teeth is common in dental practice. Problems, such as the tilting, drifting, and rotation of teeth adjacent to the space, complicate the restoration of apperance, and a normally simple restorative dental procedure may become difficult. There are two primary treatment alternatives to improving a dentition's irregular and spaced apperance-closing the space by orthodontic means or providing a prosthesis to disguise the space. The treatment choice depends on many variables, but, as a general rule, patients with a normal overbite, overjet, and buccal relationship are better treated by maintaining the sapce and providing a prosthesis, either fixed or removable. This case report presents two cases : Traumatic loss of maxillary right and left central incisors, Extraction of malformed mandibular right central inciosr. The loss of central incisor space was regained by the fixed-removable and fixed orthodontic appliance, and then Maryland bridge was cemented.

Characteristics that appeared commonly in types of cosplay costume are as following. First, cosplay costume is consisted of peculiar mechanism that cosplayer perform series progress such as work selection, design development, manufacture, production, acting alone in aspect of Performance costume. Second, according to cosplay object, degree of representation became different. Character is stronger, because the characteristic is emphasized, tendency that degree of reproduction becomes low showed. Third, cosplayer's distiction appeared according to material selection, design development method and analysis.

Indeterminancy is one of the thought systems which explains all things with not 'either-or' but 'both-and' the conditions and qualities of human identities and inner state. A view of the world of Dionisos of Nietzsche's and the character of Manneristic trend which has resolved the sense of alienation of men by paradoxic expression has succeeded to romanticism surrealism and postmodernism. 1. Cross-dressing has increased under contemporary conditions. There also have been various cross-dressing phenomena in the past but it appears strongly now that it would destroy the cultural stereotypes and give rise to the cultural insecurities in contemporary conditions. 2. The indeterminancy of status that is wealth versus poverty impacts on variations of contemporary dress. This has been represented by neglecting traditional code which is related to wealth in costume by conversion of the symbols of wealth and poverty as disguise with moderation simplicity and additionally poverty image instead of ostentation. 3. In the cultural aspect that is mother culture/ subculture the author has investigated black street fashion which has newly become visible. The black street fashion is wide spread in black popular music such as jazz Rhythm & Blues Reggae and Rap which is subculture against white. The external values of indeterminancy in fashion are n대-manneristic tendencies as deformation eclectic friction and irrational structure and graffiti method. The inner values by indeterminant expression in fashion are irony and paradox grotesque satire and amusement.

The femme fatale image presently observable in various fields is reproducing its image through repetitive imitation, change and application, in particular, through 'movies' which have a greater ripple effect on the public than any other mass media by incessantly producing a countless number of images. This study aims to figure out the intrinsic meaning and the characteristics of the image of femme fatale, understand the modern expression of it in movies and finally shed light on its image represented in Korean movies. For this study, the literature and internet materials related to the image of femme fatale in the movie "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" and the general concept of femme fatale were comprehensively surveyed. The femme fatale image which is represented in this movie is classified into 4 images ; disguise & mystery, retribution & cruelty, enchantment & beauty, salvation & redemption. The findings of this study provide an insight into how the femme fatale image is expressed in movies, the mass media which has a gigantic ripple effect, and provide the momentum to recognize the need and significance of understanding the femme fatale image represented in Korean movies.
