In this study of the oak wilt disease that has occurred in a large scale in a protected area located near South Korea's metropolitan region, a detailed analysis has been conducted on the terrain, species and Diameters at Breast Height (DBH) of infected trees to identify the distribution of infection properties in the affected area. Taking into consideration the distribution of oak tree vegetation, a total of 4,640 quadrats in a size of 10 m by 10 m, have been set; and oak tree species, the DBH and infection damage per quadrat have been investigated. Geological properties have been analyzed according to elevation, slope, aspect and micro topography while a weighted value has been given according to the degree of infection in order to calculate an infection index. Through correlation analysis, the infection ratio of seriously-damaged and withered trees and the infection index have been analyzed with regards to the geological properties, tree species and DBH. The analysis shows that the disease tends to affect an area with medium elevation rather than those in the highest or lowest areas and that serious damage has been observed at rugged spots with a steep gradient (more than $30^{\circ}$). Although there has been no distinct tendency with regards to aspect, the infection ratio is relatively high in areas facing the north while the seriously-damaged and withered ratio are high in areas facing the south. In terms of micro topography, more damage has been spotted in valley terrain. Quercus mongolica has sustained more damage than other species. When it comes to the DBH, as seen in previous studies, large trees have suffered severe damage, but the analysis has also revealed conspicuous damage to medium trees with a DBH of 15-20 cm, which had not previously been considered at high risk.
Replacement of the aortic valve in a normal or large aortic root can be accomplished with ease and safety in most instances. The presence of a narrowed aortic annulus remains a problem in that the replaced smaller prosthetic valve has a significant resting pressure gradient across the orifice. This narrowing causes not only technical difficulties, but also increased mortality and post-op. complication. Therefore this problem deserves special attention. This report presents our experience with a case of a small aortic root caused by rheumatic heart disease [AI and MS]. This is the method of enlargement of the aortic annulus with a woven Dacron patch and replacement of a larger prosthetic aortic valve combined with mitral valve replacement.
Congenital aortic stenosis, a relatively uncommon congenital heart disease, may cause heart failure and may be fatal. In recent years, increased clinical awareness and improved diagnostic and operative technique has made accurate diagnosis and successful treatment possible. Recently we experienced 2 cases of congenital aortic stenosis, and which was corrected surgically. The first case was 9 years old boy, and second case was 16 years male. Preoperative diagnosis was entertained by angiography and cardiac catheterization in both cases. In each case, aortic valve opening was widened by incision along the fused commissure between the combined left and right coronary cusp on one side, and the noncoronary cusp on the other side. Post-op. pressure gradient between the aorta and left ventricle markedly reduced, in the first case, 50mmHg, and in the 2nd case, 55mmHg.Both patients discharged with good results 2 weeks after open heart surgery.

Isolated cortical vein thrombosis (ICVT) is a rare disease, accounting for less than 1% of strokes. A 46-year-old woman presented with progressive left side weakness. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging with $T2^*$-gradient echo ($T2^*$-GE) sequence showed long cord sign at the right frontal cortex. The patient was treated with low molecular weight heparin, followed by oral warfarin for 6 months. The 3-month follow-up MR imaging showed recanalization of the previously thrombosed cortical vein. She was completely recovered without neurological deficits after 6 months. This provides that MR imaging with $T2^*$-GE sequence can help to diagnosis the ICVT and outcomes of the ICVT are generally favorable.
A 1.3 year-old Castrated male Bedlington terrier (10.0 kg of body weight) was presented with heart murmur and occasional coughing. Diagnostic imaging studies revealed supravalvular pulmonic stenosis (maximal velocity 2.91 m/s) from abnormal membranous structure (aperture) distal to the pulmonary valve in the main pulmonary artery. Further study also revealed pulmonic regurgitant (1.82 m/s of peak velocity, 13.2 mmHg of pressure gradient) jets started from the abnormal membranous structure. Since the dog had no obvious clinical signs related to heart failure, no interventional therapy including balloon dilation was considered in this case. Instead, medical treatment for preventing further deterioration of clinical signs related to PS was done with enalapril. This case report described a rare case of type III supravalvular PS in a dog, which has never been reported. Further deterioration of clinical signs has yet been recognized after medical treatment.
Double-chambered right ventricle [DCRV] is a rare congenital heart disease caused by anomalous muscle bundle traversing the sinus portion of the right ventricle well beneath the infundibulum. Recently we have experienced a case of DCRV with ventricular septal defect in 7-year old male patient. Preoperative cardiac catheterization and cineangiography revealed 80 mmHg pressure gradient between the proximal and distal chamber of the right ventricle and diagonal shape filling defect by the anomalous muscle bundle in the sinus portion of the right ventricle. Resection of the anomalous muscle bundle and patch closure of the ventricular septal defect was performed with cardiopulmonary bypass. The postoperative course was uneventful and excellent.

Human mobility estimation plays a key factor in a lot of promising applications including location-based recommendation systems, urban planning, and disease outbreak control. We study the human mobility estimation problem in the case where recent locations of a person-of-interest are unknown. Since matrix decomposition is used to perform latent semantic analysis of multi-dimensional data, we propose a human location estimation algorithm based on matrix factorization to reconstruct the human movement patterns through the use of information of persons with correlated movements. Specifically, the optimization problem which minimizes the difference between the reconstructed and actual movement data is first formulated. Then, the gradient descent algorithm is applied to adjust parameters which contribute to reconstructed mobility data. The experiment results show that the proposed framework can be used for the prediction of human location and achieves higher predictive accuracy than a baseline model.
The herbs of Lamium takesimense Nakai (Lamiaceae) is used to treat spasmodic and inflammatory disease. The four polar compounds, ecdysterone, isoacteoside, rutin and lamiuside C, were isolated and identified from the BuOH fraction of the L. takesimense MeOH extract. HPLC quantification was performed on a Capcell Pak C18 column ($5{\mu}m$, $4.6mm{\times}250mm$) with a gradient elution of $H_2O$ and 0.05% acetic acid in MeOH. The HPLC method was validated in terms of linearity, sensitivity, stability, precision, and accuracy. The quantitative level in plant material was determined as the following order: lamiuside C (4, 3.75 mg/g dry weight) > ecdysterone (1, 1.93 mg/g) > isoacteoside (2, 1.32 mg/g) > rutin (3, 0.97 mg/g).
Retinoic acid. the active metabolite of vitamin A. was detected in the human liver for the first time using a new method. A rapid and sensitive technique has been developed using gradient-elution. reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatography. This assay. with simultaneous multiwavelength detection at 294nm, 325nm and 450nm after saponifcation of liver samples. allows us seperation and quantitation of vitamin E, retinoic acid, total retinoids and various carotenoids in one small sample. The proportion of retinoic acid to total retinoids in human liver appears to be quite $consistent(2.4\pm0.2%$ ). With low vitamin A storage in liver, detection at another wavelenth 354nm would increase the sensitivity for retinoic acid of small quantity This method of analysis could be used for other tissues like red blood cells, plasma or serum, also. Hepatic retinoic acid level with total retinoids and carotenoids would serve a better indicator of functional vitamin A nutriture especially for those with disease requiring needle biopsy of liver.
Polymorphonuclear (PMN) leucocytes are fundamental importance to the body's defense mechanism and play a major role in the local and systemic reactions to infectious disease. Investigation of the physiological and pathological role of the various leucocyte subtypes in host defence mechanisms is dependent upon the isolation of adequate numbers of viable, pure leucocyte fractions. This report describes the separate frequency of PMN leucocytes both from buffy coat layer and from packed RBC layer when bovine peripheral blood was treated with various anti-coagulants such as acid-citrate-dextrose(ACD), ethyldiaminetetraacetic acid(EDTA), sodium citrate and heparin. The separate frequencies of PMN leucocytes from buffy coat layer was 60.4$\pm$9.6%(heparin), 56.8$\pm$11.8%(sodium citrate), 30.6$\pm$14.1%(ACD) and 6.2$\pm$3.7%(EDTA), in order. Those from packed RBC layer monitored with EDTA, ACD, sodium citrate and heparin was 85.0$\pm$4.7%, 84.3$\pm$5.5%, 83.8$\pm$6.5% and 76.3$\pm$7.7%, respectively. The Ficoll-hypaque(FH) density gradient method was used to remove a small part of lymphocytes and/or monocytes from leucocytes in packed RBC layer. With the result that it increased separate frequency of PMN leucocytes from EDTA(89.9$\pm$2.4%), ACD(89.5$\pm$3.6%), and sodium citrate(83.6$\pm$10.3%) than heparin(68.4$\pm$13.9%). These results indicate that the use of EDTA and ACD as anticoagulant Is suitable for the separation of PMN leucocytes from bovine peripheral blood, and that the FH density gradient method is able to increase the separate frequency of PMN leucocytes from packed RBC layer.
