Pulsed Nd:YAC laser is used widely for materials processing and instrumentation. It is very important to control the laser energy density in materials processing by a pulsed Nd:YAG laser. A pulse repetition rate and a pulse width are regarded as the most dominant factors to control the energy density of laser beam. In this study, the alternating charge-discharge system was designed to adjust a pulse repetition rate. This system is controlled by one chip microprocessor and allows to replace an expensive condenser for high frequency to a cheap condenser for low frequency. In addition. we have investigated the current pulse shape of flashlamp and the operating characteristics of a pulsed Nd:YAG laser. As a result, it is found that the laser output of the power supply using the alternating charge-discharge system is not less than that of typical power supply. As the pulse repetition rate rises from 30pps to 120pps by the step of 30pps at 1200V, it is found that the laser efficiency decreases but the laser output power increases about 6W at each step.
This study was conducted to identify groundwater recharge and discharge amounts of a representative urban-rural composite area located in Yongin city, Kyounggi-do, Korea. Groundwater recharge would be affected by mainly two processes in the study area: rainfall and leakage from public water pipelines including water-supply and sewage system. Groundwater recharge rate was estimated to be 13.5% by applying annual groundwater level data from two National Groundwater Monitoring Stations to the master regression curve method. Subsequently, the recharge amounts were determined to be $13,253{\times}10^3m^3/yr$. Leakage amounts from water-supply and sewage system were estimated to be $3,218{\times}10^3$ and $5,696{\times}10^3m^3/yr$, respectively. On the whole, a total of the recharge amounts was $22,167{\times}10^3m^3/yr$, of which 60% covers rainfall recharge and 40% pipeline leakage. Groundwater discharge occurred through three processes in the composite area: baseflow, well pumping, and discharge from urban infrastructure including groundwater infiltration into sewage pipeline and artificial extraction of groundwater to protect underground facilities from submergence. Discharge amounts by baseflow flowing to the Kiheung agricultural reservoir and well pumping were estimated to be $382{\times}10^3$ and $1,323{\times}10^3m^3/yr$, respectively. Occurrence of groundwater infiltration into sewage pipeline was rarely identified. Groundwater extraction amounts from the Bundang subway line as an underground facility were identified as $714{\times}10^3m^3/yr$. Overall, a total of the discharge amounts was determined to be $2,419{\times}10^3m^3/yr$, which was contributed by 29% of artificial discharge. Even though groundwater budget of the composite area was identified to be a surplus, it should be managed for a sound groundwater environment by changing deteriorated pipelines and controlling artificial discharge amounts.
Air Discharge pattern and even temperature distribution is critical for a successful lower temperature air distribution system, which would supply lower temperature air than normal HAVC system. Selection of appropriate diffuser is the most critical element in completing lower temperature system.
A fire sprinkler system is very important to extinguish fire in the building. The sprinkler system initiates sprinkler discharge if the detection system identifies a developing fire and opens the pre-action valve. However, pre-action fire sprinkler systems mainly installed in the underground parking lot at the apartment complex do not properly operate at fire if the connection type of fire sprinkler systems does not properly installed and operated. This study identified the relationship between fire dispersion & damage and the connection type of water supply in the sprinkler system from many fire cases at the apartment complex in South Korea. In addition, this study also identified the water supply differences and characteristics between South Korea and foreign countries. The main purpose of this study is also to improve the water connection types in the sprinkler system that can reduce the potential failures of pre-action valve operation through electrical signal system. The study also suggests the improvement plan for water connection types in pre-action fire sprinkler system that can minimize potential failure of pre-action fire sprinkler system. The suggestions for revising the fire safe standard in South Korea includes letting the water supply pipe of sprinkler system water inlet connect to the second side of pre-action valve and the water flow device that can minimize potential failure of sprinkler system.

In recent years, increasing electricity use has led to considerable interest in green energy. In order to effectively supply, cut off, and operate an electric power system, many electric power facilities such as gas insulation switch (GIS), cable, and large substation facilities with higher densities are being developed to meet demand. However, because of the increased use of aging electric power facilities, safety problems are emerging. Electromagnetic wave and leakage current detection are mainly used as sensing methods to detect live-line partial discharges. Although electromagnetic sensors are excellent at providing an initial diagnosis and very reliable, it is difficult to precisely determine the fault point, while leakage current sensors require a connection to the ground line and are very vulnerable to line noise. The partial discharge characteristic in particular is accompanied by statistical irregularity, and it has been reported that proper statistical processing of data is very important. Therefore, in this paper, we present the results of analyzing ${\Phi}-q-n$ cluster distributions of partial discharge characteristics by using K-means clustering to develop an expert partial discharge diagnosis system generated in a GIS facility.

In this study, a System Dynamics (SD) simulation model for the efficient operations of an industrial water supply system was developed by investigating the feedback loop mechanisms involved in the operations of the system. The system was modeled so that as demand is determined the water supply quantity of intake pumping stations and dams are allocated. The main feedback loop showed that many variables such as the combinations of pump operation, unit electric power(kWh/$m^3$), unit electric power costs(won/$m^3$), water level of water way tunnel, suction pressure and discharge of pumping station, and tank and service reservoir water level had causal effects and produced results depending on their causal relationship. The configurations of the model included an intake pumping station model, water way tunnel model, pumping station model (including the tank and service reservoir water level control model), and unit electric power model. The model was verified using the data from the case study industrial water supply system that consisted of a water treatment plant, two pumping stations and four dams with an annual energy costs of 5 billion won. It was shown that the electric power costs could have been saved 7~26% during the past six years if the operations had been based on the findings of this study.

In this paper, This paper is a liquid droplet discharge system using a water level sensor that can linearly detect changes in water level through experiments with an infrared sensor, a laser sensor, an ultrasonic sensor, and a capacitance sensor. SMPS, regulator 5V, and LDO 3.3V were designed for power supply. A water level sensor input ADC circuit and microprocessor were used. Solenoid valve control, pump output control unit for positive/negative pressure generation, CAN, Ethernet, UART communication, and USB for industrial communication were used. The change in pressure was confirmed through the change in water level, the change in pressure was minimized, and a system for discharging liquid droplets was implemented.

Most of air pollution in a metropolis is the result of exhaust gas emissions from automotive vehicles, and the world-wide regulation against environmental pollution is becoming more strict. Moreover the demand on development and supply of an environment-friendly automobile is increasing and the market share about that is expected to grow rapidly in this time of high oil price. The secondary batteries the most important component to store the electrical energy in hybrid electric vehicle. It needs to the higher power characteristics to emit the energy instantaneous. In this paper, we proposed the system to monitor reliably the charge and discharge states of the secondary batteries for hybrid electric vehicle. The material is about SW and HW module the software and hardware module mounted on the charge and discharge system and the monitoring system to control the charge and discharge performance effectively.
Purpose: This study analyzes the operating characteristics of a lithium ion capacitor that can be used as a standby power supply in an emergency, and determines whether the standby power supply is abnormal even by measuring the voltage using a linear proportionality characteristic during charging and discharging. The aim is to provide an experimental basis that can be done. Method: As a method for this study, first, analyze the operation principle and characteristics of the existing backup power supply and lithium ion capacitor, and then measure the voltage of the lithium ion capacitor according to the configuration and system block diagram of the induction lamp used in the experiment. We proceed with the test of the measured value of discharge power for each voltage band to check the amount of power held by the battery and the operation test experiment using induction lamps. Results: Just by checking the charging voltage using the linear proportional characteristics of lithium ion capacitors, it provides a basis for accurately inferring the effective operating time of induction lamp lamps. Conclusion: In the event of a disaster, the lithium ion capacitor is used as a spare power supply for emergency induction lamps to prevent complete discharge of emergency induction lamps, to prevent the problem of performing normal operation of the standby power supply, and to use only a simple voltage measurement to reserve power. It was intended to suggest many uses for evacuation equipment application in the future by making it possible to check whether the device is abnormal.
