A Study on the Improvement and the Survey Study on the Complaints of People with Disabilities in the Use of Disabled Car (복지차 이용 시 장애인의 불편사항 조사와 개선방안 연구)

  • This study is to suggest necessary improvements of inconvenient elements as well as the ergonomic design standard to develop disabled cars by evaluating the types of needs and observing the behavior characteristics on their car use and the survey on the complaints of the disabled drivers and their guardians in the use of disabled car. The results of this study are as follows. First, both the disabled drivers and their guardians are found to feel high inconvenience and low satisfaction with the cars they use now. Second, the disabled owner-drivers also answered in a same way as guardians. They find the most difficulty in moving the supporting equipment to get into and out of a car. Both the owner-drivers with disabilities and guardians complained of lack of handiness they face when they wear the seat belts and sitting on the seats. In view of this, a disabled car to be developed should have ergonomic design for its seats and the safety of the seatbelt as well as trouble-free supporting equipment helping them move. Third, rather than owner-drivers with handicaps, guardians expressed more difficulties and less contentment with the cars for the disabled, which is reckoned to lead to the changes of perspectives on development of cars for the disabled breaking away from existing viewpoints focusing on the accessibility to the vehicles. Fourth, both owner-drivers and guardians showed higher interests in driving and other safety and convenience measures than in using supporting equipment to get into and out of vehicles, implying that rather than the accessibility to get into and out of a car, convenience should primarily be taken into account for the design of the disabled car. Fifth, the auto-manufacturer is to give prior thought to user convenience when developing a car in practice. For this, the developer may have the disabled car users join the process of development as well as asking experts for help and participation.

  • Korean railroad company is continuously improving the service for the disabled. They also install and reform many facilities for them. However, They didn't consider the egress of the disabled when fire occurred until today. At present, fire hazard analysis and risk assessment are introduced into Korea regulation for improving fire safety performance of train car and railroad facilities. Fire safety evaluation for the railroad conducted in Korea didn't generally consider the disabled. In the present situation, the study for the egress of the disabled in train car was needed. The egress experiment was conducted to measure the movement speed of the disabled who didn't walk or walk very slow.

  • we suggest a shopping cart system following the wheelchairs autonomously for the disabled to do shop easily. This system have been developed in order for a cart to follow the disabled using wheelchairs automatically without pulling a cart directly. This system use kinnect and an radio control car (RC-car). The kinnect detect whether movement of disabled is right turn, left turn or straight and according to this result the RC-car can be controlled autonomously. By this system, the disabled using wheelchairs can do shopping more easily than before.

However, It is not considered the importance of egress when fire occurred in a cabin Now, Fire hazard analysis and risk assessment are introduced into domestic regulations for improving fire safety performance of train car and railroad facilities. Considering the fact that fire safety evaluation process doesn't fully include disabled person, fundamental egress data for them is very important for life safety aspect. In this paper, Egress experiments and analysis were conducted to measure the movement speed of the disabled with Mugunghwa and Saemaul.

  • The main concepts in the design and construction of an motorized wheelchair for loading in the car which is intended to drive a disabled to long distance. The wheelchair is basically a powered and folding, so it is designed to motorized manual wheelchair by modularity method. The wheelchair has been installed with a power motor module, battery module, and drive & control module. The goal of this project is to develop a wheelchair that has multifunction and operated disabled who has variety impairment. So we are currently working.

A Design and Implementation of Control Application for Arduino Prime Smart Car

  • In this paper, we design and implement an Application based on android platform, which can control arduino Prime Smart Car using Bluetooth communication. This Application consist of Bluetooth communication module, manual mode module, and line-tracer mode module. In the Bluetooth communication module, it checks the on/off status of Smartphone Bluetooth. If Bluetooth status is off, it activates Bluetooth, selects the corresponding device from Bluetooth device list, and connects with a pair. In order to reduce coding time, we implements Bluetooth communication using inherited class from android Bluetooth package. In the manual mode module, it implements six direction moving button and stop button, which can control arduino Prime Smart Car. In the line-tracer mode module, it implements Prime Smart Car with self-driving function using TCRT5000 sensor. And moving button and stop button is disabled.

  • In modern society the population of disabled goes on increasing rapidly not only in congenital deformities but also in acquired handicapped persons due to various factors such as car accidents and industrial disaster. And the number of disabled passengers in airports is growing every year with economic growth and globalization in Korea as well. That is the reason why the effort to the convenient facilities for the disabled in airports is needed more. The real situation in airports which are the public buildings is that the effort to install the facilities for the disabled is only perfunctory to meet the legal standard and cannot answer to the expectation of the facilities for e disabled. In this investigation I would like to give the airport operators the guide line to expand the facilities and the disabled an opportunity to use airports more freely and conveniently through the presentation on the problems and solutions with the current situation of the facilities for the disabled and the satisfaction of users in all airports in Korea.

  • Compared to the past, the number of disabled people in Korea is continuing to increase. As for the scope of the disability, it is expanding as well since it now includes all types of illnesses, car accidents, complications resulting from aging, industrial accidents and others accidents. Attempts are made in terms of applying sports game method that grafts IT technology in order to ensure that the disabled people participate continually in sports. While casting away the notion of play which was the role of a game in the past, new roles and domains were developed. In fact, serious game genre is what leads this change. Because serious game is leading the game industry fast, centered on education, sports, fitness and medical use, its market value can be considered very significant since it can be both fund and effective as it targets the disabled who cannot enjoy sports easily in reality. Accordingly, this research seeks to present the direction for the application of serious game for the disabled people by analyzing the current situation pertaining to the integrated and converged cases applied to the field of sports for the disabled when it comes to the serious game that uses contents based on the IT technology.

A Basic Study on the Route of Shared Self-driving Cars by Type of Transportation Disability person (교통약자 유형별 공유형 자율주행 자동차의 이동경로에 대한 기초연구)

  • Purpose With the recent development of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence technology, self-driving technology has developed into three stages (partial self-driving) or four stages (conditional self-driving), it is expected to bring a new paradigm to transportation in the city. Although many researchers are researching related technologies, there is no research on self-driving for disabled persons. In this study, the basic research was conducted based on the assumption that the shared self-driving car used by the disabled person is similar to the special transportation currently driving. Design In this study, data analysis and machine learning techniques were utilized to analyze the mobility patterns of disabled persons by type and to search for leading factors affecting the traffic volume of special transportation. Findings The study found that external physical disorders and developmental disorders often visit general welfare centers, internal organ disorders often visit general hospitals, and the elderly and mental disorders have various destinations. In addition, machine learning analysis showed that the main transportation routes for the disabled person use arterial roads and auxiliary arterial roads and that the ratio of building usage-related variables affecting the use of special transportation for a disabled person is high. In addition, the distance to the subway and bus stops was also mentioned as a meaningful variable. Based on these analysis results, it is expected that the necessary infrastructure for shared self-driving cars for disability person traffic will be used as meaningful research data in the future.
