A lot of various researches have been going on to use heat spreader for LED module. Nano porous aluminum anodic oxide (AAO) applied LED, which is produced from anodization, is easy and economically advantageous. Convensional LED module is consist of aluminum/adhesive/copper circuit. The polymer adhesive in this module is used as heat spreader. However the thermal emission of LED component is degraded because of low heat conductivity of polymer and also reliability of LED component is reduced. Therefore, AAO in this work was applied to heat spreader of LED module which has higher heat conductivity compare to polymer. Bonding strength between AAO and copper circuit was improved with Ti/Cu seed layer by copper sputtering process (DBC) before the bonding. And this copper circuit has been fabricated by electro plating method. Peel strength of AAO and copper circuit in this work showed range between 1.18~1.45 kgf/cm with anodizing process which is very suitable for high power LED application.
In an evacuated tube solar collector, the stable sealing of the heat pipe to the glass tube is important for the collector to use for a long period of time. The sealing of copper tube to the glass is quite difficult because of the large differences in the physical and chemical properties of the two materials. In this study, therefore, a proper copper oxide layer was induced to improve the chemical bonding of the two materials, and the oxidation state of copper and the interface between copper and glass were examined by XRD, SEM and EDS. Its bonding strength was also measured. Cu$_2$O was formed when the bare copper was heat-treated under 600$^{\circ}C$, while CuO oxide layer was formed above that temperature. The bonding state of CuO to the copper was very poor. The borate treatment of the copper, however, extend the stable forming of Cu$_2$O layer to 800$^{\circ}C$. Borosilicate glass tube was sealed to a copper tube by Housekeeper method only when the sealing part was covered with Cu$_2$O layer. The bonding strength at the interface was measured 354.4N, its thermal shock resistance was acceptable.

Human thermal sensation based on a human energy balance model was analyzed in the study areas, the Changwon and Nanaimo sites, on clear days during thesummer of 2009. The climatic input data were air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and solar and terrestrial radiation. The most effective factors for human thermal sensation were direct beam solar radiation, building view factor and wind speed. Shaded locations had much lower thermal sensation, slightly warm, than sunny locations, very hot. Also, narrow streets in the Nanaimo site had higher thermal sensation than open spaces because of greater reflected solar radiation and terrestrial radiation from their surrounding buildings. Calm wind speed also produced much higher thermal sensation, which reduced sensible and latent heat loss from the human body. By adopting climatic factors into landscape architecture, the human thermal sensation analysis method promises to help create thermally comfortable outdoor areas. The method can also be used for urban heat island modification and climate change studies.

Purpose: Heat transfer analysis of recently developed 'slim type double-skin system window' were presented. This window system is designed for curtain wall type façade that main energy loss factor of recent elegant buildings. And the double skin system is the dual window system integrated with inner shading component, enclosed gap space made by two windows when both windows were closed and shading component effectively reflect and terminate solar radiation from outdoor. Usually double-skin system requires much more space than normal window systems but this development has limited by 270mm, facilitated for curtain wall façade buildings. In this study, we estimated thermophysical phenomena of our double-skin curtain wall system window with solar load conditions at the summer season. Method: A fully 3-Dimentional analysis adopted for flow and convective and radiative heat transfer. The commercial CFD package were used to model the surface to surface radiation for opaque solid region of windows' frame, transparent glass, fluid region at inside of double-skin and indoor/outdoor environments. Result: Steep angle of solar incident occur at solar summer conditions. And this steep solar ray cause direct heat absorption from outside of frame surface rather than transmitted through the glass. Moreover, reflection effect of shading unit inside at the double-skin window system was nearly disappeared because of solar incident angle. With this circumstances, double-skin window system effectively cuts the heat transfer from outdoor to indoor due to separation of air space between outdoor and indoor with inner space of double-skin window system.
The purpose of this study is to study how F.L. Wright reflected the climatic properties and materials of the region into creative ways of designing his architecture. The research method examined the design methods and use of materials by Wright in existing research literature and compares the space plans of housing works in Arizona. The research results will be summarized as follows : 1) For two-story houses, pilotis was used to avoid the hot air and the walls on the ground floor were often planned as thick wall. 2) In the fifties, F.L. Wright's design method changed in a circle from the vertical and horizontal lines. 3) F.L.Wright's Architectural form concepts and design concepts were extracted from local symbolic forms and natural forms. 4) F.L.Wright avoided Arizona's direct light but Indirect sunlight enters into the interior space. 5)External space was expressed as a closed space, while internal space was expressed as an open space. It's like an organic space. 6) Most of the housing materials used are stone and cement from rough deserts, and wood with low heat conductivity and thick concrete blocks to prevent the sunlight from rising above.

The most effective means of evaluating remaining life is through the creep testing of samples removed from the component. But sampling of large specimen from in-service component is actually impossible. So, sampling device and small-specimen creep tester have been applied. Sampling device has been devised to extract mechanically small samples by hemispherical, diamond -coated cutter from the surface of turbine rotor bores and thick-walled pipes without subsequent weld repairs requiring post weld heat treatment. A method of manufacturing small creep specimen, 2min gage diameter and 10min gage length, using electron beam welding to attach grip section, has been proven. Small-specimen creep tester has been designed to control atmosphere to prevent stress increment by oxidation during experiment. To determine whether the small specimens successfully reproduce the behavior of large specimens, creep rupture tests for small and large specimens have been performed at identical conditions. Creep rupture times based on small specimens have closely agreed within 5% error compared with that of large specimen. The errors in rupture time have decreased at longer test period. This comparison validates the procedure for fabricating and testing on small specimen. This technique offers potential as an efficient method for remaining life assessment by direct sampling from in -service high temperature components.

The existing CHF correlations for internally heated concentric annulus channels are assessed using KAIST CHF database for uniformly heated vertical annuli. Six annulus correlations (Jannsen-Kervinen. Barnett, Levitan-Lantsman, Kumamaru et al., Doerffer et al., and Bobkov et at.) are chosen for assessment based on literature survey and Groeneveld et al.'s CHF table for round tube is also assessed for comparison. Among the above correlations, two are inlet-condition type and others local conditions type. To make the comparison meaningful, the local-condition-type correlations are assessed in two ways: direct substitution method (DSM) and heat balance condition method (HBM). Totally 1174 data are classified into 10 groups based on pressure and mass flux conditions and correlations are assessed to each group separately. Prediction capability of each correlation depends on the data group and none shows the best prediction over the entire group. In overall, the correlations by Doerffer et al. and Jannsen et al. appear to be the best, but Barnett or Levitan-Lantsman correlations also show reasonable prediction for most groups. However, the low-pressure, ]ow flow CHFs are not well predicted by any correlations. The CHF table for round tubes overpredicts the CHF in annuli at fixed local conditions.

In resent year Laser Speckle and its development have enabled surface deformation of engineering components and materials to be interferometrically examined. Laser Speckle- Pettern Interferometry Method is a very useful method for measuring In-plane components of displacement. In measuring thermal expansion coefficient, the various problems generated were established, and the measuring limitation examined. Metarial INCONEL 601 was used in experiments. Specimen was heated to the high temperature(100$0^{\circ}C$) by diong current to the direct two specimen. Then, those problems appear to the influence of back-ground radiation by the heated specimen, the influence by air turbulence, the oxidation of specimen. The color monitor and interference filter prevented the back-ground radiation by rad heat. The oxidation occuring in specimen itself was not generated by the being acid-proof excellence of material INCONEL 601. Yet, in this experiments, the serious problems are the oxidation of specimen and influence by air turbulence. By more reserching these problems forward, it is helpful that the thermal expansion coefficient of many materials is directly measured under high temperature.

In the present wort the Laser-induced Fluorescence (LIF) technique and Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy (CLSM) have been combined to measure the temperature distribution across a micro-scale liquid layer as a direct and non-invasive method. Only the fluorescent light emitted from a very thin volume around a focal plane can be selectively detected, and it enables us to measure the liquid temperatures even at the close vicinity of the walls. As an experimental verification, a test section consists of two flat plates (for heating and cooling, respectively) separated by about 240 microns was made, and the methanol mixed with a temperature-sensitive dye, Rhodamine B, was filled in the gap between them. The measured temperature distribution across the gap showed good linearity, which is a typical characteristic of conduction heat transfer through a thin liquid layer. In result, the CLSM-LIF technique proposed in the present study was found to be a promising method to measure the local temperatures in the liquid flow field in microfluidic devices.

This study was to analyze the effect of mixed fuel composition and mass fraction on the characteristics of evaporating diesel spray and combustion under the various ambient conditions. The characteristics of vaporization distribution and combustion were visualized by laser induced fluorescent method and direct photography. The experiments were conducted in the constant volume vessel and rapid compression expansion machine with optical access. Multi-component fuels mixed i-octane, n-dodecane and n-hexadecane were injected the vessel and rapid compression expansion machine with electronically controlled common rail injector. Experimental results show that fuel vapor formed stratified distribution. And vaporization and diffusion are become actively increasing in mass fraction of low boiling point component. Consequently multi-component fuels were expected to control the evaporating behavior according to their suitable mass fraction.
