A Study on the Contribution of Each Mode in Vibration Response (진동응답에 나타난 모드의 기여도 평가에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, a physically meaningful methodology which can assess the contribution of each vibration mode to various vibration response signals (displacement, velocity, acceleration) is developed. Based on these results, the problem of quantitative assessment of the relative importance of a structural system's vibrational modes is discussed. In addition, a direct method which ran assess the relative importance of each mode from uniformly sampled experimental data is also proposed.

  • The problem of subsidence of the roadbed near the Honam High Speed Railway, which opened in April 2015, continues to be raised, and the ground stability of the area near the Honam High Speed Railway may also be problematic. It is very important to select the factors that determine the indicators and indicators in producing the risk maps. Existing risk indicators are calculated as the final displacement volume based on the last observed date of the observed period, and time-series indicator displacement must be identified to analyze the cause of subsidence and the behavior of the indicator. Furthermore, for a wide range of regions, it is economically inefficient to conduct direct level measurements, so we wanted to observe surface displacement using SAR images. In this paper, time series indicator displacement was observed using PS-InSAR techniques, and risk was compared by rating each factor using the difference between final indicator displacement, cumulative indicator displacement, minimum displacement and maximum displacement as factors for determining risk indicators. As a result, the risk rating of the final displacement is different from that of each factor, and we propose adding factors from different perspectives in determining risk indicators. It is expected to be an important study in finding the cause of ground subsidence and finding solutions.

Development of Low-Power IoT Sensor and Cloud-Based Data Fusion Displacement Estimation Method for Ambient Bridge Monitoring (상시 교량 모니터링을 위한 저전력 IoT 센서 및 클라우드 기반 데이터 융합 변위 측정 기법 개발)

  • It is important to develop a digital SOC (Social Overhead Capital) maintenance system for preemptive maintenance in response to the rapid aging of social infrastructures. Abnormal signals induced from structures can be detected quickly and optimal decisions can be made promptly using IoT sensors deployed on the structures. In this study, a digital SOC monitoring system incorporating a multimetric IoT sensor was developed for long-term monitoring, for use in cloud-computing server for automated and powerful data analysis, and for establishing databases to perform : (1) multimetric sensing, (2) long-term operation, and (3) LTE-based direct communication. The developed sensor had three axes of acceleration, and five axes of strain sensing channels for multimetric sensing, and had an event-driven power management system that activated the sensors only when vibration exceeded a predetermined limit, or the timer was triggered. The power management system could reduce power consumption, and an additional solar panel charging could enable long-term operation. Data from the sensors were transmitted to the server in real-time via low-power LTE-CAT M1 communication, which does not require an additional gateway device. Furthermore, the cloud server was developed to receive multi-variable data from the sensor, and perform a displacement fusion algorithm to obtain reference-free structural displacement for ambient structural assessment. The proposed digital SOC system was experimentally validated on a steel railroad and concrete girder bridge.

Study on Structural Safety of Car Securing Equipment of Coastal Carferry: Part II Assessment of Lashing Safety according to Acceleration Prediction Approaches (국내 연안 카페리 차량 고박 장치 안전성에 관한 연구: 제2부 가속도 예측 방법에 따른 고박 안전도 비교 연구)

  • For a carferry with a displacement of 1,633 tonf, a seakeeping analysis-based direct load approach (DLA) was used in Part I of these series, where the final deliverable was the long-term probabilistic acceleration components. In Part II of these series, the tangential acceleration components are explained based on two approaches: a standard called the IMO CSS code and simple formulas with the probable maximum roll and pitch rotations. The subsequent tangential acceleration-induced external force components are also introduced for these two approaches. The lashing strength components were selected from the IMO CSS code. It was assumed that two different vehicles (a car and a truck) were stowed at the most distant locations on the main deck to assume the largest tangential acceleration components and were secured with four steel wires with longitudinal and transverse lashing angles of $45^{\circ}$. Four cases were considered, with different methods for predicting the acceleration components and different tools for the external loads and lashing strengths involved: cases Rule-LS (rule-based maximum probable roll and pitch angles for predicting the acceleration components in conjunction with LashingSafety), DLA-LS (seakeeping-based long-term acceleration components with LashingSafety), CSS-LC (IMO CSS code-based acceleration components using LashCon), and CSS-LS (IMO CSS code-based acceleration components using LashingSafety). In terms of the acceleration and external force components, the CSS-LC and CSS-LS results are more than two times the results of Rule-LS. Thus, when the external forces and lashing strengths are evaluated using CSS-LC and CSS-LS, the truck needs more lashing wires, while Rule-LS and DLA-LS predict that the present lashing configuration is on the safe side.

Field Applicability Evaluation of Foundation Combine with Footing and Pile by Model Test (모형실험을 통한 복합기초의 현장 적용성 평가)

  • As the size of structures become larger by civil and architectural structures becoming large, deeply underground, and high-rise, the conditions of underground foundation vary according to the location that the lack of bearing capacity locally because of ununiform of foundation in some parts is frequent. Generally, when the foundation is not homogeneous, the acquisition of safety through applying the most conservative foundation method possible becomes the focus to secure the stability of the superstructures. It is considered as because of inability to verify the application and stability and application of construction of different foundations through an outlined review because of lack of study in case of different foundation of mixed use of direct foundation and pile foundation. Therefore, through measurement interpretation of the different foundation in which the direct foundation and pile foundation are mixed in use, the grounds in which the hypothetical bearing capacity changes dramatically was modeled to evaluate the applicability of different foundations. Also, based on the results of measurement interpretation, various foundations are created by using plaster, Joomunjin standard soil, and rubble to conduct an indoor model test to compare and analyze the movement of pile foundation and different foundations. Based on such research results, the stability and applicability of the different foundations which is more efficient and economical than the existing foundations in case of grounds in which the bearing capacity changes dramatically by comparing and analyzing the different foundations (direct foundation + pile foundation) with the conservative pile foundation and mat foundation. As a result, when the different foundation is applied, the overall settlement amount increased than the conservative pile foundation. However, the difference was very minute and it has been confirmed to be no issue as a result of assessment of stability of the differential settlement of structures through critical angle displacement.
