Phenol함유 폐수의 처리에서 분말 활성탄 첨가의 영향 (Effects of Fine Powder Active Carbon Addition on the Wastewater Treatment Containing Phenol)

  • This study investigated performance of the phenol degradation and reaction characteristics according to variation of phenol volumetric loading rates and dilution rates in suspension and PACT reactors using Pseudomonas sp. B3. 1. Removal efficiencies of the PAC unit indicated about 100 % with phenol volumetric loading rates from 0.4 phenol $kg/ma^3\cdot d$ to 1.2 phenol $kg/m^3\cdot d$, however, which of the suspension reactor showed about 100% with from 0.2 phenol $kg/m^3\cdot d$ to 0.75 phenol $kg/ma^3\cdot day$. 2. The cell density slightly was decreased from 298.2 mg/l to 272 mg/l, when dilution rate for suspension was reactor increased from 0.4 to 1.41 1/d, and also the cell density suddenly was decreased to 145.5 mg/l and was washed out at the dilution rate higher than 1.60 1/d. But the cell density for the PAC unit was linearly decreased with dilution rate of from 0.8 to 3.0 1/d, and showed 220.75 mg/l at maximum dilution rate. 3. The phenol utilization rate was increased from 0.008 to 0.031 phenol g/l$\cdot$h, when dilution rate for suspension reactor was increased from 0.4 to 1.5 1/d, however, the rate for the PAC unit was linearly increased from 0.017 to 0.061 phenol g/l$\cdot$h as variation changes from 0.017 to 0.061 phenol g/l$\cdot$h dilution rate.

Near-Field Mixing Characteristics of Submerged Effluent Discharges into Masan Bay

  • Hydrodynamic mixing characteristics of submerged effluent discharges into Masan Bay were investigated by both field observations and numerical model simulations. CORMIX model, a length-scale mixing model, was adopted to obtain the near-field dilution and wastefield characteristics of the effluent discharges into Masan Bay. Model predictions of the near-field dilution rates were in a good agreement with field observations in summer and winter seasons. Seasonal variations in the dilution rates showed that the highest dilution rate was obtained in winter while the lowest dilution rate was in summer. As the effluent discharges are increased with the treatment capacity expansion to be completed by 2011, the dilution rates are expected to be much reduced and the near-field stability of the wastefields will become unstable due to the increased effluent discharges.

마산ㆍ창원 하수종말 처리장의 해양방류 처리수에 대한 초기ㆍ근역 희석연구(II) (Initial and Near-field Dilution at the Ocean Outfall of Masan-Changwon Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant(II))

  • 1999년 2월에 관측한 수온 및 염분도 분포로부터 마산ㆍ창원 하수종말처리장의 해양 수중방류수에 대한 동계의 근역희석률을 산정하였다. 소조기의 약한 주변유속과 수온약층에 의해 하수플륨이 포착되어 희석률이 30~40정도로 저조했던 하계의 경우와는 달리 동계 소조기의 경우에는 주변해수의 수직적 등밀도혼합이 전 층에서 형성되어 하수플륨이 수표면까지 상승하며 희석률도 90~130정도로 훨씬 큰 것으로 나타났다. CORMIX2 모형의 모의결과에서도 소조기의 약한 유속(Ua=6.0cm/s)의 경우 동계 희석률이 하계 희석률보다 약 3배 정도 증가하였으며 대조기의 강한 유속(Ua=15.5cm/s)의 경우에는 두 계절의 희석률 차이가 30%정도로 미미하였다. 이는 수중방류 하수의 근역희석 및 혼합과정이 주변해수의 밀도성층 효과보다는 유동성분에 더 큰 영향을 받기 때문인 것으로 사료된다.

마산.창원 하수종말처리장 증설에 따른 근역희석률변화 예측 (Prediction of Near-Field Dilution Changes Due to Treatment Capacity Expansion of Masan-Changwon Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant)

  • 수중다공확산관을 통해 1차 처리수를 마산만에 방류하고 있는 마산·창원 하수종말처리장의 증설계획에 따른 하수방류량의 증가시 현재의 해양방류시설을 그대로 사용하였을 경우 방류하수의 희석률 변화를 예측하였다 하수처리시설 증설후 방류량의 증가에 따라 희석률은 큰 폭으로 감소하였다 이에 대한 개선방안 도출을 위해 현 위치에서 확산관의 배치와 길이를 변경해서 희석률의 개선효과를 CORMIX 모형을 사용하여 조사하였다. 확산관의 길이가 연장되고 확산관축을 해류방향에 대해 평행보다는 직각이 되게 배치했을 경우 희석률은 다소 증가하였으나 소조기의 약한 해류에서는 희석률의 변화가 거의 없어 현위치에서의 한계성을 보였다 하수처리장의 2단계와 3단계의 증설에 대비한 새로운 방류위치선정과 확산관의 최적배치로 희석률을 크게 높일수 있는 대안을 모형 모의 결과로부터 제시하였다.

에스프레소 희석 커피(아메리카노)의 희석 배수에 따른 관능적 특성 (Sensory Characteristics of Diluted Espresso(Americano) in Relation to Dilution Rates)

  • The aims of this study were twofold: i) to investigate changes in the sensory characteristics and consumer preference of diluted espresso drinks according to different dilution rates; ii) to compare the physicochemical characteristics between diluted espresso coffees, using the preferred coffee of this study and commercial products from coffee shop chains. Descriptive analysis using a 15 cm line scale, and a consumer preference test were carried out by 6 trained panelist,; and 50 consumers (F=39, M=11), respectively. Appearance (transparent, black), odor (bitter, rich), taste (bitter, burnt, astringent, umami, sour), and mouth-feel (aftertaste, body, coarseness, oily, roughness, soft-swallowing) were significantly different among the 3-, 5-, 7-, 9-, and 11-times dilution rates. In particular, the sensory characteristics associated with mouth-feel showed obvious differences with the dilution rates. In the consumer preference test, the 9-times diluted espresso had the highest preference, whereas the 3-times diluted espresso showed the lowest preference. Moreover, the 9-times diluted espresso demonstrated similar physicochemical characteristics such as pH, sugar content, and total solid content to those of the commercial diluted espresso drinks from coffee shop chains. In conclusion, the sensory characteristics and consumer preference of the diluted espressos were influenced by the dilution rates.

마산ㆍ창원 하수종말 처리장의 해양방류 처리수에 대한 초기ㆍ근역 희석연구(I) (A Study on Initial and Near-Field Dilution at the Ocean Outfall of Masan-Changwon Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant)

  • 본 논문에서는 국내 최초로 수중확산관을 통해 하ㆍ폐수 1차 처리수를 해양방류하고 있는 마산ㆍ창원 하수종말처리장의 해양방류수에 대한 초기ㆍ근역 희석률을 현장관측과 CORMIX 모형계산을 통해 비교 검토하였다. 수심 15m 내외의 방류수역에서 수온약층이 수심 4m~6m에서 형성된 1998년 하계에 관측된 염분도로부터 희석률을 구하였으며, 또한 해수밀도의 수직 분포와 해류자료를 입력하여 모형으로부터 하 폐수 플륨의 이동확산 양상과 초기희석률을 계산하였다. 방류지점의 관측된 염분도 분포로부터 구한 희석률은 32~48이며, 모형에 의해 계산된 초기ㆍ근역 희석률은 29~43으로 두 결과 모두 매우 낮은 하계 소조시의 희석률을 보이고 있다. 이는 조류가 약한 소조기의 정체 시에는 방류수에 포함된 오염물질로 인해 해양방류수역의 수질오염이 더욱 가중될 수 있음을 보여준다.

스파크점화기관에서 흡기제어 방식이 부분부하 성능에 미치는 영향(2) - EGR 특성과 희석 방법의 비교 (Effect of Intake Flow Control Method on Part Load Performance in SI Engine(2) - EGR Characteristics and Comparison of Dilution Method)

  • This paper is the second investigation on the effects of intake flow control methods on the part load performance in a spark ignition engine. In the previous work, two control methods, port throttling and masking, were compared with respect to lean misfire limit, fuel consumption and emissions. In this work, the effects of these two methods on EGR characteristics were studied and simultaneously the differences between EGR and lean combustion as a dilution method were investigated. The results show that EGR limit is expanded up to 23% and 3 ~ 5% improvement in the fuel consumption are achieved around 8 ~ 13% rates by the flow controls comparing with 10% limit and 1.5% reduction around 3% rate of non-control case. The masking method is more effective on the limit expansion than throttling as like as lean misfire limit; however there is no substantial difference in fuel consumptions improvement regardless the control methods except high load condition. Also it is observed that there exist critical EGR rates around which the combustion performance and NOx formation change remarkably and these rates generally coincide with optimum rates for the fuel consumption. In addition, dilution with fresh air is much more advantageous than that of the exhaust gas from the view point of dilution limit and fuel consumption, while utilization of the exhaust gas is more effective on NOx reduction in spite of considerably small dilution compared with the use of fresh air. Finally, the improvement of fuel consumption by massive EGR is highly dependent on the EGR limit at which the engine runs stably, therefore the stratified combustion technique might be a best solution for this purpose.

축산농가에서 목초액을 이용한 암모니아 가스의 제거 특성에 관한 연구 (Ammonia Removal Characteristics by Pyroligneous Liquid at Livestock Farmhouse)

  • This study was carried out to obtain the optimal ammonia removal efficiency using pyroligenous liquid for the economical and environment-friendly odor removal at a petty livestock farmhouse. The ammonia removal efficiencies were evaluated due to changing dilution rates(${\times}$10, ${\times}$20, ${\times}$30, ${\times}$50 and ${\times}$100 times) and different spray amounts(10$m\ell$ and 20$m\ell$) of pyroligenous liquid. The wet scrubber device was used to remove odor in closed-type livestock farmhouse. According to dilution rate of the pyroligenous liquid, the optimum rate was 20 times and the removal efficiency increased by decreasing dilution rates. In the case of spray amounts with the optimum dilution, the amount was 20 me and the removal efficiency increased by increasing spray amount. Also, the removal efficiency by using wet deodorizing device was 83.0-97.0% with 20 times diluted liquid.

Physiological Characteristics of Immobilized Streptomyces Cells in Continuous Cultures at Different Dilution Rates

  • Physiological characteristics such as specific productivity, morphology of Streptomyces cells Immobilized on celite beads, and operational stability at different dilution rates were investigated in continuous immobilized-cell cultures for the production of kasugamycin. At a dilution rate (D) of 0.05 $h^{-1}$, a relatively high specific productivity was attained and the loss of cell-loaded beads was negligible. At D=0.1 $h^{-1}$, a higher specific productivity and cell concentration could be obtained, resulting in a significantly improved volumetric kasugamycin productivity. However, no stable operation could be maintained due to a significant loss of cell-loaded beads from the reactor that was caused by their fluffy morphology developed in the later stage. At D=0.2 $h^{-1}$, the production of kasugamycin and cell growth were observed to be severely inhibited by the high concentration of residual maltose.

화력발전소 굴뚝 미세먼지 측정을 위해 개발한 이젝터-다공튜브 희석장치의 희석비 검증 (Verification of dilution ratio of the newly developed ejector-porous tube diluter for measurement of fine dust in coal-fired power plant stack)

  • The exhaust emissions from coal-fired power plants have received much attention because coal-fired power plants are the one of the largest sources of particulate matter (PM) emissions in South Korea. To measure the PM10 and PM2.5, we developed the novel diluter which is comprised of ejector and porous tube in series. The dilution ratio must be defined to calculate particle concentrations of the sampled air as well as to probe match for the isokinetic sampling. For this reason, we verified the dilution ratio of the developed diluter by the flow rate, numerical solution, gas concentration and particle concentration. The ejector-supplied flow rates were 10-50 L/min and the porous tube-supplied flow rates were 30, 50 L/min in this study. All methods above showed similar dilution ratios to each other within 10 % error rate. The dilution ratio was confirmed by comparing mass concentrations before and after the dilution process.
