모바일 장치에서 반사 잔상 제거 알고리즘 구현 (Implementation of Reflection Removal Algorithm on Mobile Device)

  • Undesired reflection removal from an image captured through glass window is widely needed with the prevalence of camera. In this paper, we present and implement a reflection removal algorithm, which is specially designed for smart devices. Our implementation requires smart phone application to take two input pictures of the same target, one with flash light on and another with flash light off. Then, we find a flash spot in the picture, match the features to align the input pictures, transform the color space, and finally combine the pictures. As the result, we get a resulting image with removed reflection, achieving the visually pleasant.

  • Application of herbicide for rice cropping is inevitable but notorious for its side effect of environmental pollution. Precision fanning will be one of important tools for the least input and sustainable fanning and could be achieved by implementation of the variable rating technology. If a device to detect weeds in rice field is available, herbicide could be applied only to the places where it is needed by the manner of the variable rating technology. The study was carried out to develop an algorithm of image processing to detect weeds in rice field using a machine vision system of multi-spectral digital images. A series of multi-spectral rice field picture of 560, 680 and 800 nm of center wavelengths were acquired from the 27th day to the 39th day after transplanting in the ineffective tillering stage of a rice growing period. A discrimination model to distinguish pixels of weeds from those of rice plant and weed image was developed. The model was proved as having accuracies of 83.6% and 58.9% for identifying the rice plant and the weed, respectively. The model was used in the algorithm to differentiate weed images from mingled images of rice plant and weed in a frame of rice field picture. The developed algorithm was tested with the acquired rice field pictures and resulted that 82.7%, 11.9% and 5.4% of weeds in the pictures were noted as the correctly detected, the undetected and the misclassified as rice, respectively, and 81.9% and 18.0% of rice plants in the pictures were marked as the correctly detected and the misclassified as weed, respectively.

  • Digital technology has advanced rapidly and it is anticipated that multimodal ways of meaning-making will become increasingly important. Consequently, teaching multimodal literacies is becoming a major issue in education. This study focuses on the use of picture diaries as a means of teaching multimodal literacies. Picture diaries are one of the basic and unique multimodal texts used in lower elementary level classes in Korea. A further advantage is that it is a promising text model which can be taught in unplugged ways. In order to explore the educational implications of using such picture diaries, this study sought to analyze the ways in which twenty four $1_{st}$ graders in an elementary school constructed meaning with written language and pictures in composing picture diaries. 251 picture diaries composed during several months of their $1_{st}$ grade period were analyzed based on the constant comparative method. The results indicated that the students utilized both written language and pictures in diverse and creative ways to provide their audience with more comprehensive meaning. These results indicate that teachers need to consider their students as active multimodal meaning-makers and provide their students with more opportunities to practice multimodal meaning-making and share their experiences.

  • 본 논문은 MPEG-21 디지털 아이템 적응의 핵심 기술 중 하나인 혼성 비디오 부호변환에 관해 고찰한다. 부호변환기를 복잡도 측면에서 효율적으로 구현하기 위해서는 움직임 벡터 재사용 기법이 반드시 필요하나, 기존의 방법들은 P-picture만을 위한 움직임 벡터 재사용 기법을 채용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 B-picture를 위한 두가지 움직임 벡터 재사용 기법을 제안한다. 제안한 기법을 사용함으로써 I/B/P picture 양식으로 부호화되는 MPEG 비트열로 부호변환이 가능하게 된다. 컴퓨터 실험을 통해 본 논문에서 제안한 방법은 부호 변환기의 성능을 일정 범위 내로 보존하면서도, 계산 효율을 크게 향상시킬 수 있음을 보인다.

  • The aim of this study is to show that using a Web-Based Instruction system is a better method to help counteract deficient teaching, learning conditions and facilities thus improving the students' interest, understanding, participation and skill development in Physical Education. The key findings of this study are as follows; The first advantage of using this system is that the theory of Softball is explained with the use of pictures rather than text, thus improving the students' understanding. The second is the method in which practical skills are explained and demonstrated. Action image sequences are used as opposed to the old method of using stationary pictures. This means that the learners can clearly see and understand why and, more importantly, how to use these skills. The third advantage is the technique used to teach the application of these skills. Using active rather than passive learning and thus engaging the student encourages improved participation and learning. The fourth advantage comes in evaluation: both subjective and objective questions are asked in theoretical evaluation, and the teachers can evaluate the students' understanding and skill development by filming their actual Softball games. Efficient Method of Detecting Blurry Images

  • In this paper we present a simple, efficient method for detecting the blurry photographs. Recently many digital cameras are equipped with various auto-focusing functions to help users take well-focused pictures as easily as possible. In addition, motion compensation devices are able to compensate motion causing blurriness in the images. However, digital pictures can be degraded by limited contrast, inappropriate exposure, imperfection of auto-focusing or motion compensating devices, unskillfulness of the photographers, and so on. In order to decide whether to process the images or not, or whether to delete them or not, reliable measure of image degradation to detect blurry images from sharp ones is needed. This paper presents a blurriness/sharpness measure, and demonstrates its feasibility by using extensive experiments. This method is fast, easy to implement and accurate. Regardless of the detection accuracy, the proposed measure in this paper is not demanding in computation time. Needless to say, this measure can be used for various imaging applications including auto-focusing and astigmatism correction.

  • Several studies have shown that the trust is a significant barrier for realizing the potential of e-commerce. Trust is not only a short-term issue but also the most significant long-term barrier for realizing the potentials of e-commerce. Because digital contents which have been used in e-commerce are easy to be duplicated, the enforcement of digital copyright protection is an important issue. Watermarking is a technique for labeling digital pictures by hiding secret information in the image. In this paper, a discrete wavelet transform(DWT) based technique for embedding digital watermark into image is proposed. The performance of the proposed watermarking is robust to a variety of signal distortions, such as JPEG and image processing operations.

디지털 시대의 패션 디자인 조형성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Formative Features of Fashion Design in Digital Era)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze relations between digital characteristics and formative features of fashion design in digital era, to find out the best way to make desirable clothes in the future affected by digital characteristics. The methods of this study are documentary research of previous studies and case study. For the study of formative features of fashion design, 100 kinds of pictures have been selected from photographs in fashion magazines, professional books and internet sites. In the theoretical study, digital characteristics are limitless repetition, compressibility, interactivity, ease of deformation and mobility. And formative features of digital design are plasticity & geometry, assemblage, joints & connections, transparency and deformation. The results of analysis are as follow. Formative features of fashion design in digital era are classified nonlinearity, variability and hybrid. There are organic relations between digital characteristics and formative features of fashion design as well as between digital characteristics and formative features of digital design. Also, there is significant similarity between formative features of digital design and formative features of fashion design in digital era.

수색표준액과 해면의 디지털 화상 분석에 의한 수색판정 (Assessment of Seawater Color by Digital Photographic Imaging)

  • The purpose of this study was the development of a digital water color measurement system using a CCD optical device. Photographs of the standard medium of Forel and Ule water color scales in the laboratory, and one of sea surface above a Secchi disc (Z=SD/2) immersed in seawater were taken. The colors of these pictures were estimated with the value of CIE $L^*a^*b^*$. Water color assessment was conducted with a digital photo-image. In the case of the Forel scale (No. 1-11), the $b^*$ value was so high that the water color number was large. In the Ule scale (No.11-21), the $a^*$ value became high, which is why the number on the water color scale was large. The color of these pictures showed that the $a^*$ value in the Forel scale and the $b^*$ value in the Ule scale increase with the increase of the F value. The $a^*$ value of seawater color was always lower than the one on the Forel and Ule water color scales. This indicates that the color of the scales differs from actual seawater color. It was concluded that water color number can more effectively be assessed by estimating the ${\Delta}Eab^*$ color difference between the water scales and actual seawater color.
