  • The National Library of Korea establishes an Act on Legal Deposit and Use for the Online Digital Products in 2007 and it is preparing an enforcement. The purpose of this study is to suggest rate base on legal deposit of digital products before enforcement of this bill. To reach the goal, this study reviewed the legal deposit acts on digital products in the world. Also the opinion of main stakeholders in this area was collected such as digital book publishers and music copyright association. In conclusion, this study proposed rate base of reimbursement for legal deposit of digital products.

  • We propose semantic model that is possible to apply for the bibliographic metadata of domestic digital library by analysing bibliographic metadata models like MARC, DC, MODS, JeromeDL's metadata model MarcOnt as the representative case of semantic digital library and FRBR model as the conceptual model.

  • The growth of digital image an video archives is increasing the need for tools that efficiently search through large amount of visual dta. Retrieval of visual data is important issue in multimedia database. We are using contented-based visual data retrieval method for efficient retrieval of visual data. In this paper, we introduced fundamental techniques using characteristic values of image data and indexing techniques required for content-based visual retrieval. In addition we introduced content-based visual retrieval system for use of digital library.

  • RCCL(Robot Control C Library) is general purpose robot control language. It is programmed with C language and composed of C library. So it is well portable and supports sensor integration control and high level force control algorithms. We implemented RCCL on PUMA. We developed servo controller of DDC(Direct Digital Control). We used intel 8097BH one chip micro controller as CPU. One digital servo board controls three motors. Host computer is IBM PC 386DX-33 with RCCL.

  • KORMARC used in library bibliographic information, had been pointed several weaknesses such as inflexibility lack of link information and compatibility. In addition, a sudden increase in digital information associated with development of internet is demanding an integration of web resources metadata as the resource of library information. This study mentioned XML/KORMARC system or adaption of XML standard format turned out to be the most efficient way to use KORMARC formats and to expand the range of those information service such as bibliographic information, factual information, referral information and full-text.

  • Recently, a digital divide has gotten worse in the information age. So LG Sangnam library developed the ubiquitous library for the improvement of information accessability of the blind. It utilizes a mobile phone applied with NFC (Near Field Communication) technology and automates a user's identification process and serve library services at anytime from anywhere. Users can use three access points of a web service, a mobile service and a telephone library service. As a conclusion of this paper. Several recommendations were proposed. For the development of ubiquitous library, various instruments should be considered to diversify user's access points and a usability test and analysis about user's environmental context should be done simultaneously.

  • The evolution of librarian job is influenced by the change of paradigm in library. in theses days, a "good job" is the job that is sensing the changes and applying them in the field. The research is the comparison between '70s and 80s' and 21st century's tasks as a librarian; the law of library, the standards, the influence of department on library and job analysis. The results; the number of technical services have been reduced while professional information services increased as well as media resources. This is because they are trying to satisfy all kind of users. The librarians are acquiring of digital resources, preserving the resources, preparing on-line access, cooperating with other information centers to adjust the great increase of work in digital library.

  • This study investigated search interface of Korea children's library and suggested how to improve problems. This study researched 4 types search interface of 27 children's reading room, public/private children's Korea home page designs and International Children's Digital Library. To sum up, when interface designers design children's search interface, they should consider following factors. The size of letters are avaliable changed which little readers want to the size of letters. Avaliable to imput the keyboard or the mouse. The size of icons should design easy to click children in size. Children's interface should design user oriented.

  • This study tries to survey general behaviors of the users and their's perceptions on the service quality, with the staff members' expectations, of the Information Commons in the National Digital Library of Korea. 'Computer Cluster,' 'User guide service' and 'Internet information' are most used and general facilities, services, and contents are most satisfied. The comparative analysis shows that the customers' perceptions of overall satisfaction, customer loyalty, and service quality and overall satisfaction of each three primary dimensions(library staff, resources and services, facility and physical environment) are higher than those of staff members' expectations.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the political and functional requirements of the regional library portal and to evaluate such requirements. A literature review was carried out to discuss library portal, and introduce the best practices of the regional library portal. After analyzing the political and functional requirements of the regional library portal, AHP was applied to evaluate requirements. In the political requirements, standards, digital collection development, operation and evaluation were ranked according to importance, and copyright & licence management which belongs to digital collection development was underrated. There were differences in the importance among the functional requirements of the regional library portal, integrated search, integrated interface, information service, separated digital collection management and access management were ranked according to importance.
