The main objective of this study was to setup model and evaluate the model performance for streamflow simulation in Burundi using Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model. The total area of Burundi is 27,834 ㎢. The elevation of Burundi ranges from 780 m to 2,700m. The West and East are low lands, while the Central part is high land. The topographic data (30 meters Digital Elevation Model) and land use and land cover data of Burundi were obtained respectively from Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) and the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD). The soil data used was obtained from Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The local weather data and discharge data were provided by Burundi Hydro meteorological Service (IGEBU). Mean Areal Precipitation (MAP) and Mean Areal Temperature (MAT) were estimated. The streamflow simulation was done for the period 1980-2017. The calibration and validation of river discharge was performed at a daily time step from 2005 through 2011 as the calibration period and 2012 up to 2017 as the validation period. The findings show that streamflow decreases during Jun to September and increases during March to May and October to December.

This study tried to reveal relative surface denudation resistance and ranking by geologic types in the Southern Korean Peninsula using an 1:250,000 digital geologic map and ASTER GDEM. Among rock types such as igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks, metamorphic rock showed the greatest resistance to surface denudation. The most resistant rock to surface denudation by geologic periods (e.g., the Precambrian, Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic) was found from the Precambrian. Among the major tectonic settings in the Southern Korean Peninsula such as the Gyeonggi massif, Okcheon belt, Yeongnam massif, Gyeongsang basin and Pohang basin, the Okcheon belt indicated the greatest resistance. The most and least resistant rocks from the representative nine rocks in the Southern Korean Peninsula were Paleozoic limestone, and Cretaceous sedimentary rock and Cenozoic sedimentary rock, respectively. This study suggests that Paleozoic limestone, Cretaceous volcanic rock, Paleozoic sedimentary rock and Precambrian gneiss can be regarded as hard rocks with high elevation, steep slope and complicated relief, while soft rocks with low elevation, gentle slope and simple relief are Jurassic granite, Cretaceous sedimentary rock and Cenozoic sedimentary rock.
The accuracy of rural land cover using airborne multispectral images and LEAR (Light Detection And Ranging) data was analyzed. Multispectral image consists of three bands in green, red and near infrared. Intensity image was derived from the first returns of LIDAR, and vegetation height image was calculated by difference between elevation of the first returns and DEM (Digital Elevation Model) derived from the last returns of LIDAR. Using maximum likelihood classification method, three bands of multispectral images, LIDAR vegetation height image, and intensity image were employed for land cover classification. Overall accuracy of classification using all the five images was improved to 85.6% about 10% higher than that using only the three bands of multispectral images. The classification accuracy of rural land cover map using multispectral images and LIDAR images, was improved with clear difference between heights of different crops and between heights of crop and tree by LIDAR data and use of LIDAR intensity for land cover classification.

Recently, people are getting more interested in green energy resource and environment friendly energy resource due to the lack of energy and global warming. This study produced a solar energy resource map using LiDAR(Light Detection And Ranging) data to check if it is utilized for spatial information technology and solar energy sectors that people pay more attentions to as new recycling energy. This study assigned Ulleungdo(Island) located in Gyeongsangbuk-do as a target area. This study created the contour line with 1 meter by newly photographing LiDAR and data processing. And using this contour line, this study built DEM(Digital Elevation Model) data with 1 meter. The incidence range depending on the altitude and azimuth of sun using DEM data is used to evaluate solar energy resource. This is expected to suggest an accurate method to evaluate more reliable and more precise information of new recycling energy resource by producing solar energy resource map based on accurate and precise spatial resolution data with 1 meter level.

A LiDAR technique has the merits that survey engineers can get a large number of measurements with high precision quickly. Aerial photos and satellite sensor images are used for generating 3D spatial images which are matched with the map coordinates and elevation data from digital topographic files. Also, those images are used for matching with 3D spatial image contents through perspective view condition composed along to the designated roads until arrival the corresponding location. Recently, 3D aviation image could be generated by various digital data. The advanced geographical methods for guidance of the destination road are experimented under the GIS environments. More information and access designated are guided by the multimedia contents on internet or from the public tour information desk using the simulation images. The height data based on LiDAR is transformed into DEM, and the real time unification of the vector via digital image mapping and raster via extract evaluation are transformed to trace the generated model of 3-dimensional downtown building along to the long distance for 3D tract model generation.
Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) have been employed to systematically manage and design land use in urban areas. This has increased the need for more accurate vector and raster data. In Korea, l/l,000-scale digital maps are used as vector data for the facility management in urban areas. This has increased the need for large scale orthoimages. Orthoimages generated from aerial imagery can provide accurate information, making possible the more effective city management. However, there is a large problem in using the orthoimages, i.e., currently available conventional orthoimages have not been generated based on Digital Elevation Model (DEM) that takes into account the building heights. So this causes the displacements of building image in large scale orthoimages. The present study is an attempt to generate the large scale orthoimages based on building DEM. The semiautomatic building extraction method can detect building outlines by mouse clicking on either building roofs or corners. Building DEM, based on the outline and calculated building height, was used to produce the large scale orthoimages with the corrected building occlusion.
UAV have the disadvantage that are weak from rainfall or winds due to the light platform, so use Scale-Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) method which extrude keypoints in image matching process. To find the efficient filtering method for the construction of precise Digital Terrain Model (DTM) using UAV images, comparatively analyzed sobel and Differential of Gaussian (DoG) and found sobel is more efficient way to extrude buildings, trees, and so on. And edges are extruded more clearly when applying median additionally which have the merit of preserving edge and eliminating noise. In this study, applied sobel-median filtering which plus median to sobel and constructed the 1st filtered DTM that extrude building and trees and 2nd filtered DTM that extrude cars by threshold of gradient, Analysis of the degree of accuracy improvement showed that standard deviations of 1st filtered DTM and 2nd filtered DTM are 0.32m, 0.287m respectively, and both are acceptable for the tolerance of 0.33m for elevation points of 1/1,000 digital map, and the accuracy was increased about 10% by filtering automobiles. Plus, moving things are changed those position and direction in every image, and these are not target to filter because of the characteristic that is excluded from SIFT method.

Lately, airborne digital camera and airborne laser scanner in field of airborne surveying are used to build geography information such as digital ortho photo map and DEM(Digital Elevation Model). In this study, 3D position accuracy is compared medium format CCD camera RCD105 with airborne digital camera DMC. For this, test area was decided for aerial photograph. And using 1/1,000 scale digital map, ground control points were selected for aerial triangulation and check points were selected for horizontal/vertical accuracy analysis using softcopy stereoplotter. Accuracy of RCD105 and DMC was estimated by result of aerial triangulation and result of check points measurement of using softcopy stereoplotter. In result of aerial triangulation, RMSE(Root Mean Square Error) X, Y, Z of RCD105 is 2.1, 2.2, 1.3 times larger than DMC. In result of check point measurement using softcopy stereoplotter, horizontal/ vertical RMSE of RCD105 is 2.5, 4.3 times larger than DMC. Even though accuracy of RCD105 is lower than DMC, it is maybe possible to make digital map and ortho photo using RCD105.
Recently in terrain rendeing, most researches introduce mipmap-based out-of-core methods for handling large sized DEM data which does not fit in main memory of general computer. However, mipmap-based LOD(level-of-detail) methods occur geometric errors which appear in data simplifying the higher LOD level. These geometric errors cause geometric popping effects where LOD level changes when viewpoint moves. In this paper, we propose vertex cohesion map for reducing geometric error. In preprocessing step, we generate vertex cohesion map, which is a texture that stores the vectors. By these vectors, each vertex will be cohered into the position in which the difference of gradient value is bigger than others. Therefore in terrain rendering, using vertex cohesion map can dramatically reduce the geometry popping effects rather than using mipmap.

The process of constructing coastal digital elevation model(DEM), for the 3 dimensional analysis, is composed by abstracting land layers for land elevation and water depth, reprojecting UTM, relocating geographical grid, and interpolating works. The geomorphic set of shallow sea, including tidal current, tidal zone deposition, and water depth distribution, was analyzed by eye search of Landsat TM image, masking of land zone, band combination and regression analysis. Some horizontal differences, between combined DEM and surveyed data of shallow sea, was corrected for analysis. Analyzed geomorphic elements are stream channel, alluvial fan, coastal terrace, tidal current. and shallow sea bank. Results of analysis present that transported fluvial materials influence tidal sedimentation, especially from Gahwacheon river, for the role of artificial draining flooding waters from Jinyang Reservoir, almost in the summer season. In the coastal area with less tidal current, more fine materials are deposited. The influence of currental deposition are higher on small pockets with west coast of well developed terraces. The lower skirt of alluvial fans developed into the tidal zone of shallow sea. Small pocket type bays are closed by coastal current, and less influenced from tidal deposition. The bank of Jinju Bay are developed originally from submerging of remnant erosional mountain ranges, and play on the role of trapping fine materials.
