This study was investigated to know the effects of diflubenzuron(DFB) on the larval silkgland development of the silk-worm, Bombyx mori (L.). It has been known as a prohibitor of chitin synthesis mostly on the species of the Order Lepidoptera. In this work, the effects of the DFB concentrations (2.5$\times$10$\^$-1/,2.5$\times$10$\^$-2/, and 2.5$\times$10$\^$-3/$\mu\textrm{g}$/$\mu$l on the various larval stages, were investigated in terms on the silkgland. The macro- and microstructure of cell membrane of silkgland, and the differences of silkgland weight and water contents treated by DFB are also surveyed. As the tesults, the silkgland weight depended sensitively on not the DFB concentration but the DFB treatment period. The longer DFB treatment period, the lighter dried silkgland weight and the heavier water content of the silkgland. White opaque(WO) emerged in the middle silkgland of DFB treated larva. From the scanning election microscope observation, the cell membrane of silkgland of DFB treated larva was distinctly more compact compared to that of control. The WO was evidently resulted from the obstacles of normal transformation of silk protein through the cell membrane of middle silkgland.

This survey was performed to elucidate whether pesticide can cause the non-spinning syndrome of silkworm, Bombyx mori in Yecheon and Sangju 2002. We primarily focused to Insect Growth Regulator Pesticides(IGR) used in that areas. In the result of the survey to the retail pesticide store at Yecheon and Sangju, seven pesticides of the total 12 IGR pesticides sold were used during spring sericuitural season. 7 pesticides might effect on silkworm in consideration of possibility of exposure according to the characteristics of used amount, spray drift, volatility and treatment time. Five chitin synthesis inhibitor involving diflubenzuron of 7 IGR pesticides were known as very toxic to silkwork after exposure by skin and feeding but no non-spinning syndrome was observed from several papers. Methoxyfenozide and tebufenozide also has used at sericultural season, but are ecdysone agonist. One of the most feasible suspect of non IGR pesticide, was molinate in consideration of its volatility property and wide spread use in the sericultural area. But it's symptom after exposure of molinate was not the same as the non-spinning syndrome broke out at the sericultural farm in Yecheon and Sangju.
The chemosterilizing effects of 4 benzoylphenylureas (BPUs), were tested on the adult house fly at different developmental stages. The male and female flies before insemination (I-day-old) or with fully developed ovaries (5-day-old) were exposed to the flask surface coated with BPUs solution (300 ppm) for 24 hrs. None of the eggs layed by the 5-day-old flies on the next day of exposure to either flufenoxuron or teflubenzuron hatched to larvae. The eggs layed by the 5-day-old flies exposed to either triflumuron or diflubenzuron also showed a significantly reduced hatchability of 23%. The first egg batches layed by 1-day-old flies exposed to flufenoxuron showed hatchability of only 1%. These results indicate that the BPUs applied were effective in egg sterilization irrespective of developmental stage of house fly. The effect of flufenoxuron was the most pronounced and lasted for 5 days after exposure.
The susceptibility of Ectinohoplia rufipes, insect pest of landscaping trees in golf courses to registered insecticides in golf courses was investigated. In addition, effect of host plants, Ainus firma, Prunus serrulata var. spontanae, and Osmantus asiaticus on susceptibility of E. rufipes were tested in laboratory with efficacy of some insecticides in laboratory and fields. The insecticides used in experiments were cabaryl 40%+phosalone 20% WP, chlorpyrifos-methyl 25% EC, chlorpyrifos 20% + diflubenzuron 7% n, deltamethrin 1% EC, ethopenprox 8% +diazinon 25% WP, and fenitrothion 50% EC. Mortalities of E.rufipes were 100% except chlorpyrifos-methyl. when A. firma leaves dipped in recommended concentration of given insecticides were supplied as food to adult of E. rufipes. LC$_{50}$s of insecticides were different depending on host plants, that is, those of deltamethrin were 0.21 ppm in Ο. asiaticus, 0.45 ppm in P. serrulata var. spontanae, and 0.77 ppm in A. firma. LC$_{50}$s of fenitrothion were 24.1 ppm, 64.0 ppm, and 11.0 ppm and those of chlorpyrifos-methyl were 97.2 ppm, 40.6 ppm, and 29.6 ppm, respectively. LC$_{50}$ was the lowest in Ο. asiaticus and that of chlorpyrifos-methyl and fenitrothion was the lowest in A. firma. Deltamethrin was the most effective against adult of E. rufipes in field like in laboratory and persisted in two weeks.weeks.
Toxicity of 5 acaricides, 4 insecticides. and 6 fungicides to the twospotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch, and its predator Amblyseius womersleyi Schicha was assessed in a laboratory using a leaf disk bioassay. Dicofol was equally very toxic to aduly females of T. urticae and A. womersleyi, and caused 46% and 40% mortality of eggs of those two species, respectively. Adult females of A. womersleyi dipped in Abamectin solution showed low mortality(16.6%), while all T. urticae females died within 24 hours after dipping. Three ovicidal acaricides (Tetradifon, Clofentezine, and Hexythiazox) showed no mortality of predator eggs, but more than 90% mortality of T. urticae eggs. Four insecticides (Teflubenzuron, Triflumuron, Diflubenzuron, and Imidacloprid) and three fungicides (Propineb, Fenarimol, and Polyoxin-B captan) were non toxic to the A. womersleyi adult females. The other fungicides (Chlorothalonil, Nuarimol.Mancozeb, and Folpet) were a little toxic to adult females of the predator, showing$\leq$23.3% mortality, It may be suggested from these results that 4 insecticides, 4 acaricides, and 6 fungicides described could be incorporated into the integrated pest management system with A. womersleyi in apple orchard.
As the results achieved by the evaluation of toxicities on an aphid parasitoid, Aphidius colemani by 79 pesticides registered as horticultural pesticide and 4 adjuvants far pest control, 6 insecticides including a-cypermethrin, 13 fungicides including metalaxyl-M+mancozeb and 4 acaricides including bifenazate showed low toxicity against A. colemani adult. Low toxicity was showed in all the 4 adjuvants as well. In residual toxicity test from 40 pesticides which showed toxicity more than 50%, A. colemani was safe from 11 pesticides from the 3th day after treatment, 7 pesticides from the 5th day after treatment and 14 pesticides from the 7th day after treatment, respectively. But, chlorpyrifos-methyl, diflubenzuron+chlorpyrifos, etofenprox+diazinone and imidachloprid+chlorpyrifos showed high toxicities reaching 100%, 97.7%, 100% and 100% respectively, even from the 7th day after treatment. To evaluate the control effect by A. colemani against Myzus persicae in a greenhouse, A. colemani was released at parasitoid versus aphids rates of 1:50 and 1:100 when the population of M persicae was 50 per plant. After release, aphids population remained steady for 20 days after release at the level of around 60 aphids per plant. During the investigation, insecticides fur thrips control and fungicides for powdery mildew control were treated, but didn't affect the mummy forming of A. colemani. It may be suggested from these results that the selected insecticides, fungicides, acaricides and adjuvent could be incorporated into the integrated M. persicae management system with A. colemani on greenhouse cultivation.
We used the entomopathogenic nematode, Steinernema carpocapsae, for the effective biological control of Lycoriella mali during Agaricus bisporus cultivation. The concentrations of two S. carpocapsae products distributed in Korea were $6{\times}10^4$ and $2.5{\times}10^5m^{-2}$ respectively. As a result of investigating the density of A. bisporus larvae in a rice straw medium and soil in an A. bisporus cultivation house, the mean numbers per $30cm^2$ were 0.8 and 22.2, respectively, and A. bisporus larvae were detected mainly in the soil. The control effects after once spraying S. carpocapsae at $6{\times}10^4$ and $2.5{\times}10^5m^{-2}$ was higher at the 14th day than at the 7th day. Therefore, we investigated the control effect after twice spraying of $6{\times}10^4$ and $2.5{\times}10^5m^{-2}$ at the 14th day. The control effects after this spraying were 51.9% and 96.8%, respectively, and the control effect of spraying at $2.5{\times}10^5m^{-2}$ was better than at $6{\times}10^4m^{-2}$. The control effect of diflubenzuron WP was lower than 50%.

The study was conducted for the safety evaluation of 320 pesticide residues in 768 Lentinula edodes fruit body samples and 143 L. edodes media samples, which are distributed nationwide in South Korea. The monitoring method was the second of the multi-residue methods in the Korean Food Code. GC-ECD, GC-NPD, and GC-MSD were used as evaluation equipment for analysis. Single-analysis of the target pesticides was performed for mepiquat chloride. Through the analysis of collected L. edodes samples, pesticide residues were detected in total seven cases, including four L. edodes fruit body samples and three L. edodes media samples. The detected pesticide residues were carbendazim, diflubenzuron, fluopyram, and dinotefuran. In this study, carbendazim was detected in three L. edodes fruit body samples and one L. edodes media sample. The detected amount of carbendazim was 0.056, 0.17, 0.043, and 0.09 mg/kg, respectively. The amount of carbendazim in the collected L. edodes samples was detected below the MRLs (maximum residue level). The detected amounts of fluopyram and dinotefuran were 0.068 mg/kg and 0.06 mg/kg, respectively. Two pesticide residues were detected in the medium in one case. Mepiquat chloride was not detected in this study. These results suggested that residual pesticides were detected in a small number of collected L. edodes. However, the PLS for unregistered pesticides MRL was 0.01 ppm; therefore, we have to conduct research on preparing safety standards for mushrooms, including L. edodes.
The efficacy of spinetoram sprayed from an unmanned helicopter to control two insect vectors of pine wood nematodes, Monochamus alternatus and M. saltuarius was assessed. By using a ULV (Ultra Low Volume) sprayer, the mortality rates of phenthoate, bifenthrin, etofenprox, and diflubenzuron, which are registered for use against coleopteran insects, indoxacarb and spinetoram, which are registered for use against lepidopteran insects, were evaluated for efficacy as aerial spraying agents. The ULV test, using 33- and 55-fold dilutions of phenthoate, bifenthrin, indoxacarb, and spinetoram demonstrated a 100% insect mortality rate upon contact and feeding mortality on the third day after treatment, while etofenprox and diflubenzuron exhibited a slightly lower mortality rate than the remaining compounds. Consequently, spinetoram was selected as a candidate pesticide for aerial spraying and its efficacy to control the insect vectors was assessed. The x 33 dilution of spinetoram resulted in a 98.6-100% control efficacy against two insect vectors. However, risk assessment for bees following aerial spraying will be necessary before applying the pesticide to control insect vectors.

Benzoylureas are chemical compounds best known for their use as insecticides. Diflubenzuron is one of the more commonly used benzoylurea pesticides. Others include chlorfluazuron, flufenoxuron, hexaflumuron, and triflumuron. They act as insect growth regulators by inhibiting synthesis of chitin in the body of the insect. They have low toxicity in mammals because mammals have no chitin. Chlorfluazuron insecticides, which are mixed with solvent naphatha, are commonly used. Thus we assume that in the presented case mental change outcome of poisoning was connected with toxic effects of solvent naphtha rather than with chlorfluazuron action. Components of solvent naphtha, particularly trimethylbenzenes, exert strong irritant action on the gastric mucosa and are very well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. We report on a 67-year-old man with stuporous mentality after intentional ingestion of approximately 200 ml of liquid chlorfluazuron in a suicide attempt. He was discharged after conservative treatments including gastric irrigation, charcoal, mechanical ventilation, hydration, and antibiotics for aspiration pneumonia without complications.
