미세기포와 교반을 이용한 호기성 액비특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Characteristics of Aerobic Liquid-Composting using a Micro Air Diffusion and a Mixer System)

  • 본 연구는 양돈축사에서 발생하는 슬러리형의 폐수를 원수로 하여 미세기포(M.A)와 교반기(Mixer)을 통한 호기성 조건으로 액비화 처리시 특성을 분석하고자 한다. 실험초기 pH는 7.6으로 액비의 적정 pH 범위보다 조금 상회하는 것으로 나타났으며, pH상승은 VFAs와 연관성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 호기성 조건으로 액비처리를 수행하였을 경우 BOD와 COD제거효율에 있어서 혐기성 조건에 비해 효과적으로 나타났으며, BOD의 경우 호기성조건에서 M.A+Mix는 70.9%, M.A는 67.8%로 나타났으며, COD는 M.A+Mix가 39%, M.A가 19%의 제거효율이 나타났다. $NH_3-N$의 경우 모든 조건에서 시간 경과에 따라 점차 낮아지는 경향을 보였으며, 이는 질소의 특성과 pH상승에 따른 것으로 판단된다. $NO_3-N$에서는 모든 조건에 증가추세로 나타나 반응조 내에 $NO_3-N$이 축적되어 탈질율이 낮아지는 것으로 판단된다. 또한, 돈분뇨 액비의 비료성분 분석결과, 혐기성 조건에 비해 호기성 조건인 M.A+Mix에서 비료성분 함유율이 높은 것으로 나타났다.

Streptococcus parauberis의 디스크 확산법 결과에 대한 Epidemiological Cut-off Value의 설정 (Epidemiological Cut-off Values Generated for Disc Diffusion Data from Streptococcus parauberis)

  • Streptococcosis caused by Streptococcus parauberis is a very important disease in farmed olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus. For most fish pathogens, including S. parauberis, there are no analytical criteria to distinguish antibioticsusceptible strains from antibiotic-resistant strains. In this study, epidemiological cut-off ($CO_{WT}$) values were generated to classify 75 strains of S. parauberis isolated from 1999 to 2018 as wild type (WT) and non-wild type (NWT) using disc diffusion data and normalized resistance interpretation (NRI) analysis. The susceptibility of the isolates to 16 antibiotics was evaluated using CLSI guideline M42-A. The wild-type cut-off values for amoxicillin, erythromycin, oxytetracycline, and florfenicol for S. parauberis were ${\geq}35$, 31, 28, and 27 mm, respectively. The NWT ratios of S. parauberis strains to treatment with GEN, FFC, ENR, SXT, EFT, VAN, and CHL were 17% or less, indicating that these antibiotics may be used to treat streptococcosis caused by S. parauberis. For recent S. parauberis isolates, the NWT ratios for AMX, ERY, OTC and FFC are much higher than for strains isolated from 1999-2007. The $CO_{WT}$ data from this study will assist aquatic animal disease professionals in prescribing appropriate antibiotics for the treatment of streptococcosis caused by S. parauberis, which will help reduce the misuse and abuse of antibiotics in the aquaculture sector.

Development and Validation of a Model Using Radiomics Features from an Apparent Diffusion Coefficient Map to Diagnose Local Tumor Recurrence in Patients Treated for Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

  • Objective: To develop and validate a model using radiomics features from apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) map to diagnose local tumor recurrence in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Materials and Methods: This retrospective study included 285 patients (mean age ± standard deviation, 62 ± 12 years; 220 male, 77.2%), including 215 for training (n = 161) and internal validation (n = 54) and 70 others for external validation, with newly developed contrast-enhancing lesions at the primary cancer site on the surveillance MRI following definitive treatment of HNSCC between January 2014 and October 2019. Of the 215 and 70 patients, 127 and 34, respectively, had local tumor recurrence. Radiomics models using radiomics scores were created separately for T2-weighted imaging (T2WI), contrast-enhanced T1-weighted imaging (CE-T1WI), and ADC maps using non-zero coefficients from the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator in the training set. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was used to evaluate the diagnostic performance of each radiomics score and known clinical parameter (age, sex, and clinical stage) in the internal and external validation sets. Results: Five radiomics features from T2WI, six from CE-T1WI, and nine from ADC maps were selected and used to develop the respective radiomics models. The area under ROC curve (AUROC) of ADC radiomics score was 0.76 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.62-0.89) and 0.77 (95% CI, 0.65-0.88) in the internal and external validation sets, respectively. These were significantly higher than the AUROC values of T2WI (0.53 [95% CI, 0.40-0.67], p = 0.006), CE-T1WI (0.53 [95% CI, 0.40-0.67], p = 0.012), and clinical parameters (0.53 [95% CI, 0.39-0.67], p = 0.021) in the external validation set. Conclusion: The radiomics model using ADC maps exhibited higher diagnostic performance than those of the radiomics models using T2WI or CE-T1WI and clinical parameters in the diagnosis of local tumor recurrence in HNSCC following definitive treatment.

How to Combine Diffusion-Weighted and T2-Weighted Imaging for MRI Assessment of Pathologic Complete Response to Neoadjuvant Chemoradiotherapy in Patients with Rectal Cancer?

  • Objective: Adequate methods of combining T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) to assess complete response (CR) to chemoradiotherapy (CRT) for rectal cancer are obscure. We aimed to determine an algorithm for combining T2WI and DWI to optimally suggest CR on MRI using visual assessment. Materials and Methods: We included 376 patients (male:female, 256:120; mean age ± standard deviation, 59.7 ± 11.1 years) who had undergone long-course CRT for rectal cancer and both pre- and post-CRT high-resolution rectal MRI during 2017-2018. Two experienced radiologists independently evaluated whether a tumor signal was absent, representing CR, on both post-CRT T2WI and DWI, and whether the pre-treatment DWI showed homogeneous hyperintensity throughout the lesion. Algorithms for combining T2WI and DWI were as follows: 'AND,' if both showed CR; 'OR,' if any one showed CR; and 'conditional OR,' if T2WI showed CR or DWI showed CR after the pre-treatment DWI showed homogeneous hyperintensity. Their efficacies for diagnosing pathologic CR (pCR) were determined in comparison with T2WI alone. Results: Sixty-nine patients (18.4%) had pCR. AND had a lower sensitivity without statistical significance (vs. 62.3% [43/69]; 59.4% [41/69], p = 0.500) and a significantly higher specificity (vs. 87.0% [267/307]; 90.2% [277/307], p = 0.002) than those of T2WI. Both OR and conditional OR combinations resulted in a large increase in sensitivity (vs. 62.3% [43/69]; 81.2% [56/69], p < 0.001; and 73.9% [51/69], p = 0.008, respectively) and a large decrease in specificity (vs. 87.0% [267/307]; 57.0% [175/307], p < 0.001; and 69.1% [212/307], p < 0.001, respectively) as compared with T2WI, ultimately creating additional false interpretations of CR more frequently than additional identification of patients with pCR. Conclusion: AND combination of T2WI and DWI is an appropriate strategy for suggesting CR using visual assessment of MRI after CRT for rectal cancer.

확산강조영상에서 신호대 잡음비, 현성 확산 계수 변화에 따른 골다공증 평가 (Assessment of Osteoporosis Based on Changes in SNR and ADC Values on MR Diffusion Weighted Images)

  • 골다공증 환자를 대상으로 이중 에너지 X선 흡수(DEXA) 방법을 이용한 골밀도 영상에서는 T-score를 측정하고 자기공명영상 기법 중 확산강조영상에서는 신호대 잡음비와 현성 확산 계수를 측정한 다음 T-score변화에 따라 신호대 잡음비와 현성 확산 계수가 어떻게 변화하는지 알아보았다. 골다공증이 없는 건강한 사람 30명과 2009년 1월부터 2009년 12월까지 허리 통증으로 내원한 환자 중 단순 방사선 촬영에서 골다공증 소견이 보이는 환자 30명을 대상으로 Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA)를 이용하여 척추 L1-L4부위의 T-score를 측정 후 각각의 척추에 대해서 골감소증, 골다공증으로 분류하였다. 1.5T MR scanner를 이용하여 b value를 $400\;s/mm^2$으로 획득한 확산강조영상에서는 L1-L4 네 부위에서 신호 강도(signal intensity)측정을 하였고 현성 확산 계수(apparent diffusion coefficient; ADC) map 영상에서는 현성 확산 계수를 측정하였다. 정량적 분석방법으로 관심영역의 T-score와 신호대 잡음비(signal to noise ratio)와 ADC를 구하고 평균화 하여 관심영역에서 T-score변화에 따른 신호대 잡음비와 현성확산계수의 변화를 비교하였고 T-score에 의해 골감소증, 골다공증으로 분류하여 그룹별로 신호대 잡음비와 현성확산계수의 변화도 비교하였다. 정성적인 분석방법은 육안적으로 건강한 그룹과 골감소증, 골다공증그룹의 T1강조 시상면 영상에서 요추체중 L4 부위에서의 신호강도 차이를 알아보았다. 정량적 분석에서 골감소증 그룹과 골다공증그룹은 T-score가 감소함에 따라 확산강조영상에서의 신호대 잡음비가 감소하여 나타났으며 골다공증 그룹에서 신호대 잡음비가 가장 크게 감소하였다. ADC map영상에서는 골감소증그룹과 골다공증 그룹은 T-score가 감소함에 따라 현성 확산 계수는 감소해서 나타났고 건강한 그룹과 골감소증 및 골다공증 그룹의 경우 현성 확산 계수 차이는 골다공증 그룹에서 현성 확산 계수가 가장 낮게 나타났다. 정성적 분석에서는 건강한 그룹과 골감소증 및 골다공증 그룹에서 L4 부위의 신호강도는 건강한 그룹에서 가장 낮게 나타났고 골다공증그룹에서 높게 나타났다. 골다공증이 진행 될수록 신호대 잡음비와 현성 확산계수는 감소하고 T1강조 영상에서는 신호강도가 증가 하는 결과를 얻었고 자기공명검사가 골다공증 진단에 유용함을 알 수 있었다.

산소 플라즈마 처리에 따른 OLED의 광학 및 전기적 특성 (Optical and Electrical Properties of OLED Depending on $O_2$ Plasma Treatment)

  • The $O_2$ plasma treatment is used as improvement of ITO roughness glass for organic light-emitting diodes and organic photovoltaic cells. This study examined the effect of the electrical properties of OLED according to variation of $O_2$ plasma power. In experiment, we found that the electrical characteristics of device are excellent when the power of $O_2$ plasma is 250 W. And when the power of $O_2$ plasma increases over 250 W, the electrical properties were getting worse. $O_2$ plasma treatment not only prevents the diffusion of indium, a metal constituent, to an organic layer but also plays a significant role as improvement of ITO roughness. By considering organic light-emitting diodes treating $O_2$ plasma, it could contribute to the improvement of the efficiency of the device.

도재용착용 Ni-Cr 합금과 Co-Cr 합금의 열처리에 따른 전단결합강도 비교 (Comparison of Shear Bond Strength of Ceramic Fused to Ni-Cr and Co-Cr Alloy by Heat Treatment)

  • Purpose: This study was to evaluate the shear bond strength of the ceramic fused to Ni-Cr alloy(Bellabond plus) and Co-Cr alloy(Wirobond C) by heat treatment. Methods: Metal specimens were divided into 5 groups for each alloy according to heat treatment conditions prior to porcelain application. Fifteen specimens from each group were subjected to a shear load a universal testing machine using a 0.1mm/min cross-head speed and one specimen from each group was observed with EDX line profile. Results: The diffusion of metal oxide observed far in the specimen heat treated than no heat treated in the opaque layer. The shear bond strength measured highest to BP3(50.50MPa), WC2(50.49MPa) groups and measured lowest from BP1(35.1MPaa), WC1(39.66MPa) groups which were not treated with heat, and there was a significant difference (p<0.05). Conclusion: The shear bond strength of Ni-Cr alloy(Bellabond plus) and Co-Cr alloy(Wirobond C) measured similar 5 groups all.

오스테나이트계 스테인리스강에 대한 질소 고용화 처리 및 그 효과 (Solution Nitriding and Its Effect on the Austenitic Stainless Steels)

  • As a case hardening process for stainless steels, nitriding is more preferred and widely used than carburizing which deterioates corrosion resistance severely. In order to add the nitrogen into the stainless steels, passive film on the surface must be removed effectively before nitriding. Conventional gas nitriding process is performed in the temperature range of 500 to $600^{\circ}C$ with $NH_3$ gas, which often leads to sensitization of stainless steels. In this study, we tried to activate passive film of austenitic stainless steels by heating at low pressure. ($900^{\circ}C$, $5{\times}10^{-2}$ Torr.) Nitriding was performed at the solution treatment temperature of $1100^{\circ}C$ with nitrogen molecules instead of $NH_3$ gas. An attainable nitrogen content in a case depends on the nitrogen gas pressure at constant nitriding temperature. A case depth is proportional to the square root of solution time, which suggests that inward diffusion of nitrogen follows the Fick's 2nd law. Surface nitrogen atoms are dissolved as interstitial solutes, or precipitated in the form of MN, $M_2N$ nitrides, which increase the case hardeness. Dissolved nitrogen in the case enhances the cavitation resistance of austenitic stainless steels dramatically.

Paradigm Shift in Intra-Arterial Mechanical Thrombectomy for Acute Ischemic Stroke : A Review of Randomized Controlled Trials after 2015

  • Three randomized control trials (RCTs), published in 2013, investigated efficacy of mechanical thrombectomy in large vessel occlusions and did not show better results compared to intravenous (IV) recombinant tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA) alone. However, most clinicians treating stroke consider mechanical thrombectomy as the standard treatment rather than using IV tPA alone. This paradigm shift was based on five RCTs investigating efficacy of mechanical thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke conducted from 2010 to 2015. They demonstrated that mechanical thrombectomy was effective and safe in acute ischemic stroke with anterior circulation occlusion when performed within 6 hours of stroke onset. There are four reasons underlying the different results observed between the trials conducted in 2013 and 2015. First, the three RCTs of 2013 used low-efficiency thrombectomy devices. Second, the three RCTs used insufficient image selection criteria. Third, following the initial presentation at the hospital, reperfusion treatment required a long time. Fourth, the three RCTs showed a low rate of successful recanalization. Time is the most important factor in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. However, current trends utilize advanced imaging techniques, such as diffusion-weighted imaging and multi-channel computer tomographic perfusion, to facilitate the detection of core infarction, penumbra, and collateral flows. These efforts demonstrate that patient selection may overcome the barriers of time in specific cases.

Development of Simple Solvent Treating Methods to Enhance the Efficiency of Small-Molecule Organic Solar Cells

  • The interface morphology of organic active layers is known to play a crucial role in the performance of organic photovoltaic (OPV) cells. Especially, a controlled nanostructure with a large contact area between electron donor (D) and acceptor (A) layers is necessary to improve the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the cells since the short exciton diffusion lengths in organic semiconductors limit the charge (hole and electron) separation before excitons recombination. In this work, we developed simple solvent treating methods to fabricate a nanostructured DA interface and applied them to enhance the PCE of ZnPc/C60 based small molecule OPV cells. Interestingly, it was observed that the solvent treatment on the donor layer prior to the deposition of the acceptor layer resulted in a significant decrease in PCE, which was due to an existence of undesirable voids at the DA interface. Instead, the solvent vapor treatment after the DA bilayer formation led to densely packed and well dispersed DA contacts. Consequently, 3-fold enhancement of PCE as compared to the untreated bilayer cell was accomplished.
