  • White LEDs(Light Emitting Diode) offer advantageous properties such as high brightness, improved reliability, lower power consumption, and long lifetimes. An LED is an electronic device that converts an electrical signal into a tight signal and is used not only in Optical Communication Indoor wireless optical illuminating rooms, but also for wireless optical communication systems. Currently, studies about these white LEDs have been being progressed, and in this raper, we discuss the multiplex and the multiple access method of VLC(Visible Light Communication) systems using white LEDs. In proposed system, CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) apples to VLC system to reduce interference of VLC system, and improve capacity. The superiority of OOK modulation is presented in analysis of results by comparing VLC-CDMA communication system using OOK(On-off keying) modulation and BPSK modulation in AWGN(Additive White Gaussian Noise) channel and Diffuse channel. And we investigate the significance of a solution of interference by multipath by comparing BER in multipath channel and AWGN channel. In the proposed system, we assume Directed LOS(Line Of Sight) and Diffuse Link, and suppose VLC-CDMA using OOC(Optical Orthogonal Code) as methods to increase efficiency of system by removing ISI(Inter Symbol Interference) caused by multiple access, optical spreading code, and also present an analysis of its performance.

  • We used the polarized light scattering spectroscopy(PLSS) to get selectively the particle size information on a surface in optically diffuse material, and we analyzed the experimental results by Mie scattering theory. We found that the PLSS was the proper method fer getting the surface information in optically diffuse material. This method is able to be used in biotechlology area for diagnostics.

  • The method for preparing a perovskite-type bismuth ferrite (BFO) photocatalyst which reacts to visible LED light and the characteristics of visible light photocatalysis were investigated. BFO was prepared according to the sol-gel method. The prepared BFO consisted mainly of BiFeO3 structure and formed a nano-sized crystal including Bi24Fe2O39 structure. The BFO nano crystallines were identified from the UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectra to absorb UV and visible light up to about 600 nm. The bandgap of the BFO determined from the diffuse reflectance spectrum was about 2.2 eV. Formaldehyde was decomposed by the photoreaction of BFO photocatalysts with the visible light LED lamps with wavelengths of 585 nm and 613 nm. The narrow bandgap of BFO led to elicit BFO photocatalytic activity in visible LED light.

  • A new 3D rear projection display system using double-layer polarization-selective screen systems, one stacked in front of the other, has been developed. The front and rear screens are made of scattering polarizer films, and they either diffuse-scatter or transmit the incident light depending on the polarization state of the light. The near and for images are projected onto the front and rear screens, respectively, using light waves with mutually orthogonal polarization states. The new display system produces clear high-resolution images, which are visible over a wide range of viewing angle. It was found that the impression of depth is pronounced and eyestrain is only comparable to that by 2D display systems.

  • Not all stars in the Universe are gravitationally bounded to galaxies. Since first discovered in 1951, observations have revealed that a significant fraction of stars fills the space between galaxies in local (low-redshift) galaxy clusters, observed as diffuse intracluster light (ICL). Theoretical models provide mechanisms for the production of intracluster stars as tidally stripped material or debris generated through numerous galaxy interactions during the hierarchical growth of the galaxy cluster. These mechanisms predict that most intracluster stars in local galaxy clusters are long-accumulated material since z~1. However, there is no observational evidence to verify this prediction. Here we report observations of abundant ICL for a massive (above $10^{14}$ solar masses) galaxy cluster at a redshift of z=1.24, when the Universe was 5 billion years old. We found that more than 10 per cent of the total light of the cluster is contributed by the diffuse ICL out to 110 kpc from the center of the cluster, comparable to 5-20 per cent in local, massive galaxy cluster. Furthermore, we found that the colour of the brightest cluster galaxy located in the core of the cluster is consistent with that of the ICL out to 200 kpc. Our results demonstrate that the majority of the intracluster stars present in the local Universe, contrary to most previous theoretical and observational studies, were built up during a short period and early (z>1) in the history of the Virgo-like massive galaxy cluster formation, and might be concurrent with the formation of the brightest cluster galaxy.

  • We are creating all-sky diffuse maps from the AKARI mid-infrared survey data with the two photometric bands centered at wavelengths of 9 and $18{\mu}m$. The AKARI mid-infrared diffuse maps achieve higher spatial resolution and higher sensitivity than the IRAS maps. In particular, the $9{\mu}m$ data are unique resources as an all-sky tracer of the emission of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). However, the original data suffer many artifacts. Thus, we have been developing correction methods. Among them, we have recently improved correction methods for the non-linearity and the reset anomaly of the detector response. These corrections successfully reduce the artifact level down to $0.1MJy\;sr^{-1}$ on average, which is essential for discussion on faint extended emission (e.g., the Galactic PAH emission). We have also made progress in the subtraction of the scattered light caused in the camera optics. We plan to release the improved diffuse maps to the public within a year.

  • The zodiacal light emission is the thermal emission from the interplanetary dust and the dominant diffuse radiation in the mid- to far-infrared wavelength region. Even in the far-infrared, the contribution of the zodiacal emission is not negligible at the region near the ecliptic plane. The AKARI far-infrared all-sky survey covered 97% of the whole sky in four photometric bands with band central wavelengths of 65, 90, 140, and $160{\mu}m$. AKARI detected the small-scale structure of the zodiacal dust cloud, such as the asteroidal dust bands and the circumsolar ring, in far-infrared wavelength region. Although the most part of the zodiacal light structure in the AKARI far-infrared all-sky image can be well reproduced with the DIRBE zodiacal light model, there are discrepancies in the small-scale structures. In particular, the intensity and the ecliptic latitude of the peak position of the asteroidal dust bands cannot be reproduced precisely with the DIRBE models. The AKARI observational data during more than one year has advantages over the 10-month DIRBE data in modeling the full-sky zodiacal dust cloud. The resulting small-scale zodiacal light structure template has been used to subtract the zodiacal light from the AKARI all-sky maps.
