The paper focuses on bending analysis of the functionally graded (FG) plates with arbitrary shapes and boundary conditions. The material property of FG plates is modelled by using the power law distribution. Based on the first order shear deformation plate theory (FSDT), the governing equations as well as boundary conditions are formulated and obtained by using the principle of virtual work. The coupled Boundary Element-Radial Basis Function (BE-RBF) method is established to solve the complex FG plates. The proposed methodology is developed by applying the concept of the analog equation method (AEM). According to the AEM, the original governing differential equations are replaced by three Poisson equations with fictitious sources under the same boundary conditions. Then, the fictitious sources are established by the application of a technique based on the boundary element method and approximated by using the radial basis functions. The solution of the actual problem is attained from the known integral representations of the potential problem. Therefore, the kernels of the boundary integral equations are conveniently evaluated and readily determined, so that the complex FG plates can be easily computed. The reliability of the proposed method is evaluated by comparing the present results with those from analytical solutions. The effects of the power index, the length to thickness ratio and the modulus ratio on the bending responses are investigated. Finally, many interesting features and results obtained from the analysis of the FG plates with arbitrary shapes and boundary conditions are demonstrated.

Side-channel attacks including the differential power analysis attack are often more powerful than classical cryptanalysis and have to be seriously considered by cryptographic algorithm's implementers. Various countermeasures have been proposed against such attacks. In this paper, we deal with the masking method, which is known to be a very effective countermeasure against the differential power analysis attack and propose new gate-level conversion methods between Boolean and arithmetic masks. The new methods require only 6n-5 XOR and 2n-2 AND gates with 3n-2 gate delay for converting n-bit masks. The basic idea of the proposed methods is that the carry and the sum bits in the ripple adder are manipulated in a way that the adversary cannot detect the relation between these bits and the original raw data. Since the proposed methods use only bitwise operations, they are especially useful for DPA-securely implementing cryptographic algorithms in hardware which use both Boolean and arithmetic operations. For example, we applied them to securely implement the block encryption algorithm SEED in hardware and present its detailed implementation result.
Gas Chromatography (GC) is a wisely technique used for the separation and analysis of liquid and gas sample. Separation of the sample vapors is achieved via their differential migration through a capillary column with an insert carrier gas. The identity and quantity of each vapor in the mixer can be determined from its retention time in the column and a particular property of the gas, such as thermal conductivity, which can be related to the concentration of sample vapor in the carrier gas. Therefore, the flow characteristics in the spiral gas chromatographic column are numerically investigated in this study. Especially, different pressure drop between the front and the rear of GC column with various flow rates is estimated the governing equations are derived from making using of three-dimensional Naver-Stokes equation with incompressible and laminar model due to the nature of low Reynolds number flow. Using a commercial code, FLUENT, the pressure and flow fields in GC column are calculated with various flow rates. The characteristics of thermal cycling which is one of the most important factors affecting the column efficiency and analysis time is also estimated. Furthermore, numerical analyses are also carried out by using commercial code, ANSYS, with various values of power, which is applied to the heating element located at lower GC column.

As fuel burnup proceeds, thermal gradients, differential swelling, and inter-assembly loading may induce assembly duct bowing. Since duct bowing affects the reactivity, such as long or short term power-reactivity-decrement variations, handling problem, caused by top end deflection of the bowed assembly duct, and the integrity of the assembly duct itself. Assembly duct bowing were first observed at EBR-ll in 1965, and then several designs of assembly ducts and core restraint system were used to accommodate this problem. In this study, NUBOW-2D KMOD was used to analyze the bowing behavior of the assembly duct under the KALIMER(Korea Advanced Liquid MEtal Reactor) core restraint system conditions. The mechanical behavior of assembly ducts related to several design parameters are evaluated. ACLP(Above Core Load Pad) positions, the gap distance between the ducts, and the gap distance between the duct and restraint ring were selected as the sensitivity parameter for the evaluation of duct deflection.
The present study deals with two dimensional electro-elastic analysis of a functionally graded piezoelectric (FGP) cylinder under internal pressure. Energy method and first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) are employed for this purpose. All mechanical and electrical properties except Poisson ratio are considered as a power function along the radial direction. The cylinder is subjected to uniform internal pressure. By supposing two dimensional displacement and electric potential fields along the radial and axial direction, the governing differential equations can be derived in terms of unknown electrical and mechanical functions. Homogeneous solution can be obtained by imposing the appropriate mechanical and electrical boundary conditions. This proposed solution has capability to solve the cylinder structure with arbitrary boundary conditions. The previous solutions have been proposed for the problem with simple boundary conditions (simply supported cylinder) by using the routine functions such as trigonometric functions. The axial distribution of the axial displacement, radial displacement and electric potential of the cylinder can be presented as the important results of this paper for various non homogeneous indexes. This paper evaluates the effect of a local support on the distribution of mechanical and electrical components. This investigation indicates that a support has important influence on the distribution of mechanical and electrical components rather than a cylinder with ignoring the effect of the supports. Obtained results using present method at regions that are adequate far from two ends of the cylinder can be compared with previous results (plane elasticity and one dimensional first order shear deformation theories).
This article presented a nanoscale modified continuum model to investigate the free vibration of functionally graded (FG) porous nanobeam by using finite element method. The main novelty of this manuscript is presenting effects of four different porosity models on vibration behaviors of nonlocal nanobeam structure including size effect, that not be discussed before The proposed porosity models are, uniform porosity distribution, symmetric with mid-plane, bottom surface distribution and top surface distribution. The nano-scale effect is included in modified model by using the differential nonlocal continuum theory of Eringen that adding the length scale into the constitutive equations as a material parameter constant. The graded material is distributed through the beam thickness by a generalized power law function. The beam is simply supported, and it is assumed to be thin. Therefore, the kinematic assumptions of Euler-Bernoulli beam theory are held. The mathematical model is solved numerically using the finite element method. Results demonstrate effects of porosity type, material gradation, and nanoscale parameters on the free vibration of nanobeam. The proposed model is effective in vibration analysis of NEMS structure manufactured by porous functionally graded materials.

In this study, in order to prevent cavitation in a variable swash-plate type hydraulic pump, a basic model impeller has been applied to a new pump, and the impeller shape has been optimized through flow analysis. Based on the analysis results, we could propose an impeller shape with high efficiency and low possibility of cavitation in comparison with the basic model. The simplification of the basic shape of the impeller of the hydraulic pump was performed in three parts in the order of hub shape, wing, and curvature, and eight design parameters were defined to satisfy the design requirement. Compared with the initial model of the impeller, when the differential pressure of the optimum model increased, the efficiency was improved. It achieved the goal of design improvement because cavitation did not occur under the rated operating conditions.

Generators are the most complex and expensive single element in a power system. The generator protection relays should to minimize damage during fault states and must be designed for maximum reliability. A conventional CDR(Current Differential Relaying) technique based on DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) filter have the disadvantages that the time information can lead to loss in the process of converting the signal from the time domain to the frequency domain. A WT(Wavelet transform) and WT analysis is known that it is possible with the local analysis of the fault and transient signal. In this paper, to overcome the defects in the DFT process, an application of WT for fault detection of generator is presented. This paper describes an selection of mother Wavelet to detect faults of generator. Using collected data from the fault simulation with ATPdraw, we analyzed the several mother Wavelet through the course of MLD(multi-level decomposition) using MATLAB software. Finally, it can be seen that the proposed technique using detail coefficient of Daubechies level 2 which can be fault discriminant of generator.

The large AC generator fault may lead to large impacts or perturbations in power system. The generator protection control systems in Korea have been imported and operated through a turn-key from overseas entirely. Therefore a study of the generator protection field has in urgent need for a stable operation of the imported goods. In present, the algorithm using the current ratio differential relaying based DFT for stator winding protection or a fault detection had been applied that of internal fault protection of a generator. the DFT used for the analysis of transient state signal conventionally had defects losing a time information in the course of transforming a target signal to frequency domain. In this paper, the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) was applied a fault detection of the generator being superior to a transient state signal analysis and being easy to real time realization. The fault signals after executing a terminal fault modeling collect using a MATLAB package, and calculate the wavelet coefficients through the process of a muiti-level decomposition (MLD). The proposed algorithm for a fault detection using the Daubechies WT (wavelet transform) was executed with a C language and the commend line function for the real time realization after analyzing MATLAB's graphical interface. The advanced technique had improved faster a speed of fault discrimination than a conventional DFR based on DFT.

A novel synthetic route has been developed to prepare $\alpha$-cobalt hydroxide with intercalated nitrate anions. It was successfully synthesized by $\gamma$-ray irradiation under simple conditions, i.e., air atmosphere, without base. Under $\gamma$-ray irradiation, it leads to the formation of layered cobalt hydroxynitrate compounds which have small crystalline size and have the role of a generator of hydroxyl anion. Structural and morphological characterizations were performed by using power X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM). The component and thermal stability of the sample were respectively measured by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and thermal analyses, including thermogravimetry (TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA).
