GLOBAL BIFURCATION FOR GENERALIZED LAPLACIAN OPERATORS

  • A bifurcation problem for nonlinear partial differential equations of the form $$div({\varphi}(|{\nabla}u|){\nabla}u+{\mu}_0{\varphi}(|u|)u=q({\lambda},\;x,\;u,\;{\nabla}u)$$ subject to Dirichlet boundary conditions is discussed. Using a global bifurcation theorem of Rabinowitz type, we show that under certain conditions on $\varphi$ and q, the above equation has an unbounded connected set of solutions (u, $\lambda$).

  • It is shown that an appropriate combination of methods, relevant to operational calculus and to special functions, can be a very useful tool to establish and treat a new class of Hermite and Konhauser polynomials. We explore the formal properties of the operational identities to derive a number of properties of the new class of Hermite and Konhauser polynomials and discuss the links with various known polynomials.

  • Based on the Green's function technique, an analytical approach is developed to examine the surface wave screening effectiveness of composite wave barriers. The composite barrier consists of a high velocity layer sandwiched between two thin layers of low shear velocity materials. The high velocity layer is represented by differential matrix operators which relate the wave fields on each side of the layer. The low velocity layers are modeled by non-rigid contact conditions which allow partial sliding at the interfaces. Screening ratio of barriers with various combination of material, geometric, and non-rigidness parameters are compared and discussed in some detail.

  • In this paper, a second-order system of multi-point boundary value problems in Banach spaces is investigated. Based on a specially constructed cone and the fixed point theorem of strict-set-contraction operators, the criterion of the existence and multiplicity of positive solutions are established. And two examples demonstrating the theoretic results are given.

  • We discuss the coexistence of positive solutions to certain strongly-coupled predator-prey elliptic systems under the homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. The sufficient condition for the existence of positive solutions is expressed in terms of the spectral property of differential operators of nonlinear Schrödinger type which reflects the influence of the domain and nonlinearity in the system. Furthermore, applying the obtained results, we investigate the sufficient conditions for the existence of positive solutions of a predator-prey system with degenerate diffusion rates.

  • In this paper, using forms of conjugations, we give some algebraic properties of bicomplex numbers. We research differential operators, elementary functions and the analogous Cauchy-Riemann system in bicomplex number systems. Also, we investigate the definition and properties of regular functions with values in bicomplex settings in Clifford analysis.

  • In this paper, we introduce and study the structured essential approximate and defect pseudospectrum of closed, densely defined linear operators in a Banach space. Beside that, we discuss some results of stability and some properties of these essential pseudospectra. Finally, we will apply the results described above to investigate the essential approximate and defect pseudospectra of the following integro-differential transport operator.

  • The aim of the present paper is to study complete lifts of a semi-symmetric non-metric connection from a Riemannian manifold to its tangent bundles. Some curvature properties of a Riemannian manifold to its tangent bundles with respect to such a connection have been investigated.
