Optimal Coordination of Overcurrent Relays in the Presence of Distributed Generation Using an Adaptive Method

  • The installation of distributed generation (DG) in the electrical networks has numerous advantages. However, connecting and disconnecting of DGs (CADD) leads to some problems in coordination of protection devices due to the changes in the short circuit levels in the different points of network. In this paper, an adaptive method is proposed based on available setting groups (SG) of relays. Since the number of available SG is less than possible CADD states, a classifying index (CI) is defined to categorize the several states in restricted setting groups. Genetic algorithm (GA) with a suitable objective function (OF) is used as an optimization method for the classification. After grouping, a modified coordination method is applied to achieve optimal coordination for each group. The efficiency of the proposed technique is demonstrated by simulation results.

유도동기전동기의 동기화 한계에 관한 연구 (Study on Pulling-Into-Step of Induction Synchronous Motor)

  • There are many studies recently, on a wound rotor induction motor operation as synchronous rotating speed, and such an induction motor is so called an induction synchronous motor. In above desciption the region of pull into-step that the wound rotor induction motor as a synchronous motor has not been calculated. This paper deals with such a region. Generally, induction synchronous motor is different from a synchronous motor in many respects. In considering these respects, characteristic equations of motion for this motor are induced adoption small signal linearization, continuous quasili-nearization and state variable grouping technique. For pulling-into-step of Induction Synchronous Motor, we first analyze these equations with digital computer and compare the former with datas calculated by motor experimentation.

  • This paper deals with the problem of batching and scheduling of jobs whose processing times are different respectively But, they are given as not the exact value but the range from the lower limits to the upper, which makes it possible to group jobs into batches. The grouping of jobs is desirable because of the capability of the batch processor to accommodate several jobs at once. The time required to process the jobs in any batch depends on their lower limit processing times. Once processing is initiated on a batch processor, the batch cannot be interrupted, nor can other jobs be started. And all jobs are assumed to be simultaneously available. This paper develops the model to describe these situation and a heuristic method to minimize its total tardiness.

  • 본 논문에서는 주어진 손실함수에 대한 근사최적베이즈축차실험방법을 유도한다. 근사최적베이즈축차실험방법을 Pocock 실험방법, O'Brien and Fleming 실험방법과 ASN(average sample size) 함수와 베이즈 위험면에서 비교하기 위하여 몬테칼로(Monte-Carlo) 방법을 사용한다. 그룹축차실험방법에서 그룹 때문에 빚어지는 정보의 손실비율과 베이즈효율의 개념을 소개하고 여러 가지 다른 그룹 크기에 따른 정보의 손실을 측정한다.

Segmentation of Cooperatives' Mutuality Bank for Effective Risk Management using Factor Analysis and Cluster Analysis

  • Since cooperatives consist of many distinct members in the management environment and characteristics, it is necessary to make similar cooperatives into a few groups for the effective risk management of cooperatives' mutuality bank. This paper is a priori research for suggesting a guidance for effective risk management of cooperatives with different management strategy. For such purpose, we propose a way to group the members of cooperative's mutuality bank. The 30 continuous variables which is relative to cooperatives' management status are considered and six factors are extracted from those variables through factor analysis with empirical consideration to avoid wrong grouping and to enhance the practical interpretation. Based on extracted six factors and additional 3 categorical variables, six representative groups are derived by the two step clustering analysis. These findings are useful to execute a discriminatory risk management and other management strategy for a mutuality bank and others.

Genetic Variability of Sorghum Charcoal Rot Pathogen (Macrophomina phaseolina) Assessed by Random DNA Markers

  • Genetic diversity among selected isolates of Macrophomina phaseolina, a causal agent of charcoal rot (stalk rot) disease in sorghum was studied using PCR-RAPD markers. A set of ten isolates, from ten different rabi sorghum genotypes representing two traditional sorghum growing situations viz., Dharwad- a transitional high rainfall region and Bijapur- a semi-arid low rainfall region in South India. From a set of 40 random primers tested, amplicon profiles of 15 were reproducible. A total of 149 amplicon levels, with an average of 9.9 bands per primer, were available for analysis, of which 148 were polymorphic (99.3%). It was possible to discriminate all the isolates with any of the 15 primers employed. UPGMA clustering of data indicated that the isolates shared varied levels of genetic similarity within a range of 0.14 to 0.72 similarity coefficient index and it was suggestive that grouping of isolates was not related to sampling location in anyway. A high level of genetic heterogeneity of 0.28 was recorded among the isolates.

Classifying Temporal Topics with Similar Patterns on Twitter

  • Twitter is a popular microblogging service that enables the users to send and read short text messages. These messages are becoming source to analyze topic trends and identify relations among temporal topics. In this paper, we propose a method to classify the temporal topics on Twitter as a problem of grouping the similar patterns. To provide a starting point for a classification under the same topics, we identify the content word weighting scheme based on Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA). And we formulate how the temporal topics in the time window can be classified like peaky topics, constant topics, and periodic topics. We provide different real case studies which show the validity of the proposed method. Evaluations show that the proposed method is useful as a classifying model in the analysis of the temporal topics.

  • 본 논문은 같은 학급 내 동료들(classroom peers)의 특성이 개별 학생의 학업 성적에 미치는 영향을 1995학년도 대학수학능력시험 자료를 이용하여 추정한다. 1990년대 중반에는 평준화 제도에 의하여 학교와 학급 간 학생 배정이 외생적이라는 점을 활용한다. 실증 결과에 의하면, 학급 내 동료집단은 개별 학생의 학업 성적에 유의한 영향을 미친다. 그리고 하위권 동료의 부정적인 영향이 상위권 동료의 긍정적인 영향을 압도한다. 이러한 동료 효과의 구조는 우리나라에서 평준화 대 비평준화 논쟁에 관하여 중요한 함의를 제공한다.

  • This study deals with analysis of material from in Tube manufacturing line. This line is a multi product flow ship type production line, which consists of 5 steps of work station. Some work stations involve in unnecessary moving activities of workers and much work in-process storage due to the non-systematic material flow with respect to the different lot size production of multi-items. To improve productivity for this line, one alternative is considered such as grouping two work stations by using GT and JIT concepts. Also, feasibility analysis for this alternative is performed using and simulation model built by SIMAN IV simulation language.

  • We consider a problem of grouping orders for batch processing that arises in production systems where customer orders are processed in batches. This problem can be viewed as a variant of bin packing problem where items can be split and a pair of items can be placed in a bin when the items are compatible with each other. In this paper, we consider a special case that at most two different items can be placed in a single bin and the size of every item is at most the size of a bin.
