Computational flow dynamics(CFD) has been frequently applied to the waste incinerators to understand the flow performance for various design and operating parameters. Though it needs many simplifications and complicated flow models, the reasonability of its results is not fully evaluated. For example, the inlet condition is calculated from an arbitrarily assumed properties of combustion gas release from the waste bed, since the combustion in the bed is difficult to be predicted. In this study, the computational modeling and calculation procedures of CFD for the grate type waste incinerator were evaluated using comparative simulations. Though the assumption method on the generation of the combustion gas directly affected the temperature and gas species concentrations, the overall flow pattern was dominated by the secondary air jets. The gaseous reaction could be included by assuming the release of the products of incomplete combusion from the bed. However, the reaction effficiency cannot not be directly evaluated from the species concentration, since it is not possible to simulate the actual co-existence of fuel rich or oxygen rich puffs over the bed. In predicting the turbulence, the higher order model, such as Reynolds stress model, gave difference shape of local recirculation zones, but similar results was acquired from the standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ model. Introducing radiation model was required for accurate temperature prediction, but it also caused heat imbalance due to the fixed temperature of the inlet, i.e. the waste bed. Thus, the computational modeling procedures on incinerators and the analysis of the predicted results should be progressed carefully. Though not validated experimentally, current simulation method is capable of comparative evaluation on the flow-related parameters such as the furnace shape and secondary air injection using identical inlet conditions. Quantitative analysis using measures of the residence time and mixing is essential to compare the flow performance efficiently.

Plasma reactor was used to generate a high potential difference between two surfaces of concentric pyrex tubes by electrical current. The annular gap of the reactor was calculated by trial and error from the breakdown voltage equation and set at 0.45 cm. The overall objective of this research was to know the effects of the frequency, humidity, and residence time on the formation of nitrogen oxides in a plasma reactor. The primary voltage varied from 50 to 90 volts and the frequency was varied in increments of 10 Hz from 60 to 650 Hz at the primary voltage of 90. The increase in the secondary voltage was not linear but exponential at high frequencies. At a maximum concentration of about 745 ppm, the frequency and secondary voltage was 600 Hz and 4,200 volts, respectively. All tests for the effects of humidity on NO$_{x}$ production were performed at the optimal setting of 90 colts and 600 Hz frequency. Since the NO$_{x}$ production was not an one dimensional phenomenon, competing reactions were assumed to occur in the discharge chamber. The sharp peak concentration of 1,810 ppm was observed at 38% of relative humidity, The enhanced production was choked off, and the production rate rapidly dropped to 3 ppm at above 40% of relative humidity. It is assumed that the corona attacks the most vulnerable molecules in the reaction chamber before attacking other more lightly bonded molecules, possibly at humidities above 38% and the optimized 90 volt setting. Thus, there was not enough energy left after attacking all water molecules to decompose an appreciable amount of $N_2$. If nitrogen breakdown does not occur, then oxides of nitrogen are not likely to be produced.ced.
To understand the effects of elevated $CO_2$ concentration and temperature on seedling emergence of seven herbaceous species, the seedling emergence was monitored between November 1997 and May 1998 using a temperature gradient chamber and a $CO_2$-temperature gradient chamber. Experiment was conducted under current ambient condition (Control plot), 2$^{\circ}C$-warmed condition with ambient $CO_2$ (T2 Plot), 4$^{\circ}C$-warmed condition with ambient $CO_2$ (T4 plot). and 4$^{\circ}C$-warmed condition with 1.8 fold of ambient $CO_2$ (CT4 plot). Species tested in this study were Digitaria adscendens, Echinochloa crus-galli, Panicum bisulcatum, Setaria viridis. Oenothera biennis, Andropogon virginicus, and Imperata cylindrica. Each species often dominates in the herbaceous stage of secondary succession in Japan. The mean seedling emergence times for all species were significantly increased to 23.6 and 32.2 d in the T2 and T4 plot compared to the Control plot, respectively. The most sensitive and insensitive species in seedling emergence time in T2 plot were O. biennis and D. adscendens, respectivel.y, and those in the T4 and CT4 plot were I. cylindrica and D. adscendens, E. crus-galli and A. virginicus, respectively. All experimental species showed no significant difference in the seedling emergence rate between treatments except for O. biennis and I. cylindrica. O. biennis showed a great decrease in the seedling emergence rate from 83.3% in the Control plot to 38.0%, 14.7%, and 29.3% in the T2, T4, and CT4 plot, respectively. Elevated $CO_2$ had very little effect on the seedling emergence. From these observations, it is expected that increased temperature would greatly advance the vegetative recovery time after disturbance through the advancement of seedling emergence time.

The study examines the existence of twin deficit in two emerging economies (Turkey and Iran) and also investigates the relation of twin deficit with specific macroeconomic indicators such as the GDP, money supply, foreign direct investment, and the interest rate both in short and long-run periods. The twin-deficit concept refers to a situation where the current account deficit and budget deficits exist in the same corresponding period of an economy. This study employs the Bound Test Autoregressive lag distributed (ARDL) model on time-series quarterly secondary data of Turkey and Iran from 1992 to 2019. The stationarity of variables has been ensured through the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test at the level and the first difference. The results reveal the existence of a twin deficit in both the short and long-run periods only in Iran. Its existence could not be observed in the Turkish economy. The findings suggest a positive relationship between twin deficit and GDP, and a negative relationship between twin deficit and FDI and M2. At the same time, the relationship of the twin deficit with interest rate could not be found in the Iranian economy. The findings may be helpful for economic managers of both countries in executing their economic policies.

This study investigates the nexus between the level of Corporate Social Responsibility Disclosures (CSRD) and Risk of Bankruptcy of companies that are listing in the Stock Exchanges of Vietnam. To investigate that relationship, this study collected secondary data from annual audited financial statements from 2014 to 2018 of listing companies. Applying two different regression models with two dependent variables and six independent and control variables, we find out that Vietnamese firms with higher level of CSRD performance can rapidly reduce their risk of bankruptcy. This phenomenon happens in the current year and in the coming years in all firms in the research sample. This result may be that the disclosures of social responsibility information can bring financial and non-financial benefits to the firms. In addition, the results also point out that there is a difference in risk of bankruptcy between the group of companies, which discloses and the one which does not disclose corporate social responsibility on their annual reports. This might be from the effects of various factors such as business size, financial leverage, market to book ratio, return on assets, cash flow from operations, etc. Our research results can be applied to other firms in Vietnam and in other similar jurisdictions.

In this study, we tried to evaluate the relative importance and find out the differences in consumer perceptions regarding service recovery strategies and the service provider in the distribution industry by using AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) analysis method. Therefore in this study, we tried to systematize various recovery strategies which were considered very important during service failure process in the distribution industry and analyze the relative importance for each recovery strategy. We set hierarchy composed of four items of monetary, action-oriented, psychological, and assured level as primary selection criteria and a total of 16 items(indemnity, refund, gift, gift certificate, prompt resolution, exchange, manager support, explanation, apology, empathy, acknowledge, kindness, assortment, after service, manage subcontractor, manage employee) as secondary selection criteria. We tried to take one step further from the service sector and study service recovery strategies specialized in distributor services. This study suggests various implications about service recovery strategies of distributors. First, this study can provide practical implications - e.g. service recovery efforts should be applied differently depending on service channels. There is a perceptual difference with respect to the importance of the types of service recovery strategies between service provider and final customer. Second, we can find theoretical implications in terms of identifying the priorities through hierarchy design of new recovery strategies and comparison of each element from the classifications of the current fractional recovery strategies. We hope to help service providers to build more efficient recovery strategy system based on the results of this study.

Current diesel engines are usually equipped with turbochargers for improving fuel economy as well as meeting more stringent emission regulations. These turbochargers usually cause noise problems because they spins vey high such as 100,000 to 200,000 rpm, These noises are largely divided into whistle and whine noises. The frequency of whistle noise corresponds to their rotation speed, and the frequency of whine noise does to the multiplication of their rotation speed and the number of compressor blades. Turbocharger manufacturers developed a special type of compressor, effectively compressing air sucked from a duct; Recirculation Compressor Cover (RCC) or Map Width Enhancement (MWE). This special structure improves turbocharger's capability by expanding compressor's working area, but it seriously causes a noise problem, whine noise. There were many trials to surpress the noise occurred inside a compressor such as modification of a compressor, noise baffles or secondary measurements. However, it was currently concluded that the whine noise caused by the special compressor can not be reduced to that done by a standard compressor, and the strength difference of whine noises between the two compressors is not negligible. Thus, the standard compressor is decided to be applied to a newly developing heavy-duty diesel engine in order to resolve the turbocharger noise problem with a stiffened suction duct directly connected to a compressor.
Since forest is an important part of ecological system, the deforestation is one of global substantive issues. It is generally accepted that the climate change is related to the deforestation. The issue is worse in developing countries because the forest is one of important natural resources. In the case of North Korea, the deforestation is on the rise from forest reclamation for firewood collection and food production. Moreover, a secondary effect from flood intensifies the damage. Also, the political situation in North Korea presents difficulty to have in-situ measurements. It means that the accurate information of North Korea is nearly impossible to obtain. Thus, assessing the current situation of the forest in North Korea by indirect method is required. The objective of this study is to monitor the forest status of North Korea using multitemporal Landsat images, from 1980s to 2010s. Since the deforestation in North Korea is caused by local residents, we selected two study areas of high population density: Pyeongyang and Hyesan. In North Korea, most of clean Landsat images are acquired in fall season. The fall images have an advantage that we can easily distinguish agriculture areas from forest areas, also have an disadvantage that the forests cannot be easily identified because some of trees have turned red. To identify the forests exactly, we proposed a modified Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (mNDVI) value. The deforestation in Pyeongyang and Hyesan was analyzed by using mNDVI. The dimension of forest has decreased approximately 36% in Pyeongyang for 27 years and approximately 25% in Hyesan for 16 years. The results show that the forest areas in Pyeongyang and Hyesan have been steadily reduced.
The purpose of the current experiment was to describe interlimb coordination when swing limb conditions are being manipulated by constraining step length or by adding a 5 or 10 pound weight to the swing limb distally. Subjects were asked to begin walking with the right limb to land on the primary target (normal step length) that is 10 cm in diameter. However, if, during movement, the light was illuminated, then the subject had to step on one of the secondary targets (long and short step length). These three step length conditions were repeated while wearing a 5 pound ankle weight and then when wearing a 10 pound ankle weight. Ground reaction force (GRF) data indicated that there were changes in the forces and slopes of the swing and stance Fx GRFs. Long stepping subjects had to increase the propulsive force required to increase step length. Consequently, swing and stance toe-off greatly increased in the long step length condition. Short step length subjects had to adequately adjust step length, which decreased the speed of gait initiation. Loading the swing limb decreased the force and slope of the swing limb. Swing and stance toe-off was longest for the long step length condition, but there was a small difference of temporal events between no weight and weight condition. It appears that subjects modulated GRFs and temporal events differently to achieve the peak acceleration force of the swing and stance limb in response to different tasks. The findings from the current study provide preliminary data, which can be used to further investigate how we modulate forces during voluntary movement from a quiet stance. This information may be important if we are to use this or a similar task to evaluate gait patterns of the elderly and patient populations.

When small scale wind and solar power generation systems are connected to conventional power distribution system. It is worried that it can affect the quality of electricity such as voltage variation, power factor, frequency, harmonics and flicker. Therefore, in this research, in order to investigate the effects of wind power generation equipments(AC link method) on electrical power quality, when they are connected to distribution system. Power quality analyzer was installed respectively at the front side of power conversion system of conventional wind generation system and secondary side of consumer's power supply at distribution line. Measurements on power quality were performed and the effects of the wind generation system on distribution system were analyzed when it was and was not operated. The results show that 0.34[%] increase on voltage variation, 0.145 increase on current crest factor and 0.6[$^{\circ}$] deviation on phase difference when the power generation system was operated.
