The purpose of this study is to compare the valuation of technology firms in the KOSPI and KOSDAQ. This study analyzed 224 market reports for KOSDAQ firms and 602 reports for KOSPI firms. We compare the two markets under 3 definitions on the accuracy of stock price forecasting. Findings are as follows: Although PER multiples is the most used method of valuation, KOSDAQ valuation more heavily relies on the method than KOSPI valuation. In stock market, the period of earnings forecasting is mostly 2-3 years. Multiples of KOSDAQ is generally higher than those of KOSPI. Even for technology firms, valuation in KOSPI mostly relies on earnings of the company, but that in KOSDAQ mostly relies on relative price. In stock price forecasting, generally overestimation prevails. Moreover, forecasting of KOSPI reports is more accurate than that of KOSDAQ reports. ROE and COE of KOSDAQ firms are generally higher than those of KOSPI firms.
This study examined whether there is a difference in cost asymmetry between a corporate listed on KOSDAQ and a corporate listed on KOSPI, and whether there is a difference in cost asymmetry depending on the size of the listed corporate. In the previous study, cost asymmetry was examined only for listed corporate, but the difference in size between KOSDAQ-listed corporate and KOSPI-listed corporate was not examined. However, according to many studies, since the characteristics of corporate and firm risks are different between corporate listed on KOSPI and corporate listed on KOSDAQ, or even for listed corporate, such an impact may affect the decision-making of internal resource allocation. The analysis was conducted that there would be a difference in the impact. For this study, the results of analyzing the KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets from 2011 to 2019 using the cost behavior model of Anderson et al. (2003), There was a difference in cost behavior in the KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets. Overall, as in previous studies, Cost Stickiness was appeared. but in the case of the KOSPI market, Cost Stickiness was mitigated. It was found that corporate with large corporate size made the decision to dispose of idle resources more clearly when sales decreased. In addition, it was observed that the higher the foreign investor's ownership ratio, the KOSPI market, and the larger the corporate size, the more clearly the Stickiness of cost was mitigated. This study expands research on cost asymmetry and reveals that there is a difference between the KOSPI market and the KOSDAQ market, and between the size of the corporate, and has a differentiation from previous studies.
The purpose of this study is to analyze how the relative proportion of retention between real estate for business and investment real estate among the real estate held by corporations has been changed after and before the Financial Crisis as well as whether there has been any difference between KOSPI and KOSDAQ listed companies in terms of their share of the real estate. The increasing pattern of real estate owned by KOSDAQ were similar to the KOSPI companies except for investment properties during the Financial Crisis. The proportion of real estate owned by KOSPI had been lower than that of KOSDAQ companies in both investment and business real estate before the Financial Crisis. However, during the period of the Financial Crisis, the proportion of real estate for business held by KOSPI firms was higher than that of KOSDAQ firms. Furthermore, the portion of investment of real estate owned by KOSPI has remained higher than that of KOSDAQ after the Financial Crisis period and the recent period. Based on the results of this analysis, how the relevance of the change of portion between real estate for business and investment real estate affects management performance will be figured out in the future studies.

In order to improve audit quality, it is essential to understand the occurrence of disagreement between auditors and managers, and this study aims to analyze the impact of Business Strategies on audit risk and accounting audit delay. To this end, we conducted an empirical analysis using sample 2,910 firm-year data from 2018 to 2020 of KOSPI-listed and KOSDAQ-listed companies. The results of the empirical analysis of this study are as follows. First, compared to the companies of defender type, prospectors can expand audit procedures for new products, R&D costs, and intangible assets, and increase audit delays due to disagreement between managers and auditors. Second, compared to KOSPI-listed companies, the prospectors in KOSDAQ are more likely to have lower financial reporting quality, which further increases audit delays. The results of this study analyzed whether a company's Business Strategy affects the possibility of disagreement between an auditor and a company, and verified whether there is a difference in the audit report lag by stock market. The results of this study show that auditors' strong duty of care is needed for the companies of prospector type with high audit risk, and it is meaningful to present reinforced audit systems and specific guidelines for the companies of prospector type through the definition of prospector type. It also enables the expansion of research to identify the relationship between non-financial factors and audit risks that make up the companies of prospector type.

This study examines the effect of block diversity on the risk of firms listed on the Korean Stock Exchange between 2010 and 2017. To examine the effect of block diversity on corporate risk, we measure block diversity in terms of a single component, portfolio size, by referring to prior literature. This diversity component accounts for the differences in portfolio size across corporate blocks. In line with existing research on corporate risk, we consider several variables to measure corporate risk: volatility, beta, and idiosyncratic risk. The results show a negative relationship between the size of a block shareholder's portfolio and corporate risk. We also show no difference in the effect of block diversity on the corporate risk between KOSPI and KOSDAQ. This implies that the difference in portfolio size among corporate blocks reduces corporate risk. This may be due to the effect of inter-block monitoring activities in the Korean securities market, which benefits from block diversity. This empirical result supports previous studies that predicted that block diversity would have beneficial influences on firm monitoring in general. This study is significant in that it analyzes the relationship between block diversity and firm risk and provides relevant information to business practitioners and investors.

Purpose: This study empirically investigates what factors contribute to corporate value in the Korea New Exchange (KONEX) market and determines whether financial constraints contribute any effect on it. Research design, data and methodology: A fixed-effect panel regression model was utilized to analyze financial constraints on firm value for KONEX listed firms through the fiscal period from 2013 to 2020. Results: we find that firms' research and development, volatility, size, and sales growth give significant impacts to firm value, but the significance and direction are different. In addition, no significant relationship exists between the largest shareholder's equity ratio and firm value in all models. The debt-to-equity ratio did not show a significant relationship with corporate value. A significant negative relationship was found between R&D and corporate value in the entire sample. Volitility exhibited a positive relationship with corporate value in the entire sample and financially unconstrained companies. Firm size presented a significant negative relationship with company value in all models. Sales growth showed a significant negative relationship with corporate value in financially constrained companies. Conclusions: No difference is found between financially constrained and unconstrained companies in the KONEX market. We can infer that KONEX companies have a large difference with KOSPI or KOSDAQ. Further analysis is needed on the differences among these markets.
Recent academic studies have investigated book-tax differences as an indicator of earnings management. Tax accounting texts claim that the differences between pre-tax financial reporting earnings and taxable income can provide information about current earnings, and the large differences between book and taxable incomes are an indicator of low-quality financial reporting earnings. This study investigates the effect of internal control system over book and tax difference using the KOSPI and KOSDAQ firms from 2006 to 2008. The empirical findings are consistent with a weakness of internal control system being associated with higher book-tax difference. That means a firm which has material weakness in the internal control system allows for more malpractice. In addition to this, If the managers tries to the efficient tax decrease strategy, book-tax difference can be large. Which in turn leads us to observe a positive relation between the weakness of internal control system and intensity of book-tax difference. Overall, we interpret this evidence as indicating that the failure of the internal control system can effect not only investors and creditors but also tax authorities. And It emphasizes that a more effective internal control system linked with sound corporate governance.
Purpose: This study investigated the effects of valuation errors on the capital market through the earnings forecasting errors of financial analysts. As a follow-up to Jensen (2005)'s study, which argued of agency cost of overvaluation, it was intended to analyze the effect of valuation errors on the earnings forecasting behavior of financial analysts. We hypothesized that if the manager tried to explain to the market that their firms are overvalued, the analysts' earnings forecasting errors would decrease. Research design, data and methodology: To this end, the analysis period was set from 2011 to 2018 of KOSPI and KOSDAQ-listed markets. For overvaluation, the study methodology of Rhodes-Kropf, Robinson, and Viswanathan (2005) was measured. The earnings forecasting errors of the financial analyst was measured by the accuracy and bias. Results: Empirical analysis shows that the accuracy and bias of analysts' forecasting errors decrease as overvaluation increase. Second, the negative relationship showed no difference, depending on the size of the auditor. Third, the results have not changed sensitively according to the listed market. Conclusions: Our results indicated that the valuation error lowered the financial analyst earnings forecasting errors. Considering that the greater overvaluation, the higher the compensation and reputation of the manager, it can be interpreted that an active explanation of the market can promote the accuracy of the financial analyst's earnings forecasts. This study has the following contributions when compared to prior research. First, the impact of valuation errors on the capital market was analyzed for the domestic capital market. Second, while there has been no research between valuation error and earnings forecasting by financial analysts, the results of the study suggested that valuation errors reduce financial analyst's earnings forecasting errors. Third, valuation error induced lower the earnings forecasting error of the financial analyst. The greater the valuation error, the greater the management's effort to explain the market more actively. Considering that the greater the error in valuation, the higher the compensation and reputation of the manager, it can be interpreted that an active explanation of the market can promote the accuracy of the financial analyst's earnings forecasts.

This study examines the relationship between the release of the news and the individual stock returns. Investors utilize a variety of information sources to maximize stock returns when establishing investment strategies. News companies publish their articles based on stock recommendation reports of analysts, enhancing the reliability of the information. Defining release of a stock-recommendation news article as an event, we examine its economic impacts and propose a binary classification model that predicts the stock return 10 days after the event. XGBoost and LightGBM models are applied for the study with accuracy of 75%, 71% respectively. In addition, after categorizing the recommended stocks based on the listed market(KOSPI/KOSDAQ) and market capitalization(Big/Small), this study verifies difference in the accuracy of models across four sub-datasets. Finally, by conducting SHAP(Shapley Additive exPlanations) analysis, we identify the key variables in each model, reinforcing the interpretability of models.
The purpose of this study is to establish a foundation for IoT-related industries to secure financial soundness and to dominate the global market after COVID-19. Through this study, the quantitative management status of IoT-related companies was checked. It also was attempted to preemptively prepare for corporate insolvency by examining the relationship between financial ratios in accordance with stock price fluctuations and designation of management items. This study selected 502 companies that were listed on the KOSPI and KOSDAQ in the stock market from 2019 to 2020. For statistical analysis, multiple regression analysis, difference analysis and logistic regression analysis were performed. The research results are as follows. First, it was found that the impact of IoT company accounting information on stock prices differs depending on before and after COVID-19. Second, it was found that there is a difference in the closing stock prices of IoT companies before and after COVID-19. Third, it was found that financial ratios according to stock price fluctuations exist differently after COVID-19. Fourth, it was found that the financial ratios according to the designation of management items after COVID-19 exist differently. Through these studies, some suggestions were made to secure the financial soundness of IoT companies and to lay the groundwork for leaping into the global market after COVID-19. Through the results of this study, it is expected that it will lead the growth of IoT companies and contribute to growth as a decacorn company of the future that can guarantee financial soundness in the changing financial market.
