Bronchopulmonary Sequestration - Report of 2 cases and review of 19 cases published in the Korean Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery - (폐격리증 2례 보고 및 대한 흉부외과학회지에 발표된 19례의 문헌 고찰)

  • Bronchopulmonary sequestration is a rare congenital malformation of the lung, concerning about the abnormal feeding systemic artery, may happen a serious complication of heeding during operation if not recognized before operation. High index of suspicion of sequestration is the key to successful operative procedure with the aid of characteristic recurrent and long-standing symptoms, its location, and invasive or non-invasive diagnostic tools. We report 2 cases of intralobar type of bronchopulmonary sequestration and review 10 articles about the subject, totaling of 21 cases.

  • A terrestrial talitrid amphipod, Platorchestia japonica (Tattersall, 1922), has been recorded for the first time from Korea. This species was collected from riversides (Han River, Bukhan River and Hantan River) in Korea. Descriptions of diagnostic characters of the species are provided in the text. A key to the four species of Korean Platorchestia is also provided.

  • Foreign bodies of the upper aerodigestive tract in the pediatric population are a common occurrence. However, despite significant advances in prevention, first aid and endoscopic technology, they remain a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. Early diagnosis is the key to successful and uncomplicated management of these accidents. An orderly and systematic approach to these patients including a careful history, physical exam and radiographic studies is detailed in this review.

  • Three ichneumonid wasp species of the tribe Poemeniini (Ichneumonidae: Poemeniinae) are redescribed from Korea: Cnastis assimilis (Uchida) (new Korean record), Deuteroxorides orientalis (Uchida) and Eugalta ablimarginalis (Uchida) (new Korean record).   • The family Proctotrupidae Latreille, 1802 is recorded for the first time in Korea. As a result of a taxonomic study of the Korean Proctotrupidae, two species Disogmus areolator and Phaneroserphus calcar are reported.   • Three Korean species of the subtribe Stigmina are treated: Carinostigmus filippovi Gussakovskij, Tzustigmus rhinocerous Budrys, and Stigmus japonicus Tsuneki.   • Two fungivorous Korean erotylid beetles-Triplax ainonia Lewis, 1887 and Triplax nagaoi Nakane, 1977 in the tribe Tritomini-were recorded for the first time from Korea. All Korean Triplax members are associated with the fruiting bodies of higher fungi and fungus-grown bark. Re-description, key to the species of Korean Triplax, photographs of adults, and line drawings of diagnostic characters and host fungi records are provided.

  • We describe three new species of the Genus Kleidotoma (Figitidae: Eucoilinae) from Korea. They are K. convexitas n. sp., K. debilifovea n. sp. and K. longirudis n. sp.   • An ichneumonine genus, Probolus Wesmael, is first reported from Korea with P.fukuchiyamanus Uchida and P. cyanogaster Jeong. The former is new to Korea and the latter new to science. A key to the two species, and their descriptions and photographs of diagnostic characters are provided.
