  • Central venous stenosis is a rare cause of unilateral breast edema occurring in hemodialysis patients that needs to be differentiated from other differential diagnoses, including, but not limited to, inflammatory breast carcinoma, mastitis, lymphedema, and congestive heart failure. All reports of similar cases in the available literature have described improvement or resolution of the edema after treatment. Herein, we report and discuss the pathophysiology of breast edema formation in a patient who presented with massive left-sided breast edema 7 years after being diagnosed with central venous stenosis. Medical and minimally invasive therapy had not been successful, so she underwent reduction mammoplasty to relieve the symptoms.

  • Posterior disk displacement (PDD) of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a rare condition and most descriptions of TMJ PDD are about the adhesion of superior TMJ in which the position of disk is relatively posterior to anteriorly translated condyle in open mouth position. However, there have been reports about truly posteriorly positioned disk to the condyle in closed mouth position. This type of PDD has been classified into three subtypes-thin flat disk type, grossly posterior displaced disk type, and perforated disk type. Here, we report two rare cases of TMJ PDD, one with thin flat disk and one with perforated disk. Its possible etiology, pathogenetic mechanisms, related signs and symptoms, differential diagnoses, and treatments were reviewed and discussed.

  • The purpose of this paper is to make a design and implementation of a diagnosis system of learning misconception of students who learn 'be' verb in the English language by using fuzzy theory. In this system, a fuzzy cognitive map exposes the fact that students' perception and misunderstanding about 'the English' language have an intertwined relationship, and diagnoses causes of misconceptions of students by using fuzzy memory associative memory. It suggests that since most existing systems of rule based expert system have had several limitations, this system will be applied to diagnose learners' misconception of learning in varieties of education areas.

  • When a fault is occurred in Power System, relay system detect overcurrent or voltage drop and trip the circuit breaker. Then, an operator in the control room diagnoses the fault and start the recovery of the system after analyzing the alarm information of relays or circuit breakers. The alarm informations have different patterns for each fault of the electric equipments on lines in power systems. In this paper, Back propagation algorithm is applied to train for many kinds of the fault in the power system. The simulation results show the possibility of the neural network application for the fault diagnosis in the case of errorous operation as well as normal operation of relays or circuit breakers.

  • Two species of the heptageniid mayfly genus Thalerosphyrus Eaton, T. vietnamensis (Dang) and T. separatus n. sp., are described from Vietnam. Thalerosphyrus separatus can be distinguished by the basally detached posterolateral expansions of pronotum in larva and by the Y -shaped penes in male adult. Their larval and adult stages are described with line-drawings of diagnostic characters. Their diagnoses, distributions, habitat and ecological data, and taxonomic remarks are provided.

  • Somatoform disorders do occur among children and adolescents. Among the seven disorders under the grouping of somatoform disorders of DSM-IV, three disorders, namely somatization disorder, pain disorder and conversion disorder are seen relatively more often than one can expect in childhood and adolescence. Pain disorders are more prevalent among children before adolescence, whereas conversion disorder and somatoform disorder are seen more often during adolescence and early adulthood. Diagnoses of somatofram disorders should not be made by the process of exclusion, but based on positive findings that positive evidence that normal functioning is possible and that a positive history of psychosocial stress and or intrapsychic conflict exists. Treatment strategy should be mindful of including collaboration with primary care health professionals and family therapy staff in addition to all the basic treatment modalities essential for the treatment of children and adolescents.

  • In oriental medicine, it is required that correct medical knowledge should be maintained for medical expert system which analyzes and diagnoses patients symptoms. Typical medical expert system has a knowledge base as its core, and the knowledge base contains a domain specific knowledge about patients records. However, oriental medicine diagnostic knowledge is formed mostly as qualitative data, knowledge could be ambiguous and uncertain. In this paper, we looked at quantification methods and propose a method for quantifying the oriental medicine diagnostic knowledge, which is improving the knowledge base of an oriental medicine expert system.

  • The Korean people are all the beneficiaries of medical insurance or medical aid. It is important and needful to develop the preventive health program such as health examination and health education for disease prevention and health promotion of the beneficiaries. This paper diagnoses the status and problems of the current preventive health services to the beneficiaries and recommends how to develop the preventive health program in the medical insurance. This paper suggests that the government should strengthen the political support and supervision in order to develop the preventive health program in the medical insurance. In addition to the above suggestion, the following are recommended ; 1) to designate the large number of qualified hospitals for health examination. 2) to use the supplementary methods such as the health questionnaires in order to give the accurate health examination services. 3) to combine the health examinations by both laws of medical insurance and industrial health. 4) to arrange the manpower in charge of health education and to establish the health promotion centers. 5) to develop the effective mass media and materials for health education by use of TV, radio, VTR and slide projector.

Many owners usually start their business because of unemployment or shortage of job opportunity. So they dont have an business experience or management skill. And owners act passively in sales because they think the sales area is restricted and their stores are well-known. Family members, especially housewives, suffer role conflict and dissatisfaction because there are no rules on wage and responsibility. And many owners use the resource of household to business and vice versa. This is an advantage of family business in the viewpoint of effective use of resource, but it is a confusion of resources in the viewpoint of financial management.
