  • This paper suggests linearity enhancement algorithm to Ensure safety of Mobile Walker on Slope. Mobile Walker happens to get off track due to external forces from Walker's weight and the degree of the slope while slope driving. In order to compensate this, this research used the controller that estimates the external forces according to the slope of road surface and adjusts it to the motor output. Also, through comparisons between targeted rotational angular velocity which the user inputs and its velocity of the robot, algorithm was applied which applies a weight to each shaft. As a result of applying the proposed correction controller, it diverges in case of non-compensation experiments that deviates when moving, but it case of applying the ramp calibration algorithm, the deviation distance at max was within 10cm that it keeps safe driving, and change rate of deviation distance was also stabilized after 1m where no more changes occurred.

  • The new biotelemetry method and system that the installation and the treatment of equipment is convenient and the instantaneously detailed position of the fish attached the pinger is able to track comparatively easily had been developed, an availabilities of it were verified in water tank by using hydrophone and pinger. First of all, the receiving system for biotelemetry was calibrated so as to measure tracking of high precision or wide detection range. In the next place, the precision at narrow and wide beam array of receiving system by using hydrophone was investigated and the actual position was compared with measured hydrophone position. The mean standard deviations of the position by narrow beam array of receiving system were 6.4em in phase beam of fore-aft pair and 6.3em in starboard-port pair, and the wide beam array were 24em and 23em respectively. The precision of distance, position, and velocity at narrow beam array of receiving system by using pinger were investigated and the actual values were compared with measured values. The distance from receiving system to pinger was measured by the pinger synchronizing method, angle of direction of pinger was detected by the super short base line (SSBL) method. The three dimensional position of pinger to the receiving system was measured by combining of two kinds of methods (SPB method), the velocity of pinger was obtained with a differential of the three dimensional positions. The mean standard deviations of the distance by pinger synchronizing method in narrow beam array of receiving system was 1. 8 em, that of the position by SPB method was 7.7cm.

  • Purpose: In order to keep the acceptable level of the radiation oncology linear accelerators, it is necessary to apply a reliable quality assurance (QA) program. Materials and Methods: The QA protocols, published by authoritative organizations, such as the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), determine the quality control (QC) tests which should be performed on the medical linear accelerators and the threshold levels for each test. The purpose of this study is to increase the accuracy and precision of the selected QC tests in order to increase the quality of treatment and also increase the speed of the tests to convince the crowded centers to start a reliable QA program. A new method has been developed for two of the QC tests; optical distance indicator (ODI) QC test as a daily test and gantry angle QC test as a monthly test. This method uses an image processing approach utilizing the snapshots taken by the CCD camera to measure the source to surface distance (SSD) and gantry angle. Results: The new method of ODI QC test has an accuracy of 99.95% with a standard deviation of 0.061 cm and the new method for gantry angle QC has a precision of $0.43^{\circ}$. The automated proposed method which is used for both ODI and gantry angle QC tests, contains highly accurate and precise results which are objective and the human-caused errors have no effect on the results. Conclusion: The results show that they are in the acceptable range for both of the QC tests, according to AAPM task group 142.

  • Employment of a time consuming, sophisticated calculation using the all-atom force field and generalized-Born implicit solvent model (GBIS) for refinement of NMR structures has become practical through advances in computational methods and capacities. GBIS refinement improves the qualities of the resulting NMR structures with reduced computational times. However, the contribution of GBIS to NMR structures has not been sufficiently studied in a quantitative way. In this paper, we report the effects of GBIS on the refined NMR structures of ubiquitin (UBQ) and GB1 with subsets of distance restraints derived from experimental data. Random omission prepared a series of distance restraints 0.05, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, and 0.7 times smaller. For each number, we produced five different restraints for statistical analysis. We then recalculated the NMR structures using CYANA software, followed by GBIS refinements using the AMBER package. GBIS improved both the precision and accuracy of all the structures, but to varied levels. The degrees of improvement were significant when the input restraints were insufficient. In particular, GBIS enabled GB1 to form an accurate structure even with distance restraints of 5%, revealing that the root-mean-square deviation was less than 1 ${\AA}$ from the X-ray backbone structure. We also showed that the efficiency of searching the conformational space was more important for finding accurate structures with the calculation of UBQ with 5% distance restraints than the number of conformations generated. Our data will provide a meaningful guideline to judge and compare the structural improvements by GBIS.

  • The weighting method and goal programming require weighting factors or target values to obtain a Pareto optimal solution. However, it is difficult to define these parameters, and a Pareto solution is not guaranteed when the choice of the parameters is incorrect. Recently, the Mahalanobis Taguchi System (MTS) has been introduced to minimize the Mahalanobis distance (MD). However, the MTS method cannot obtain a Pareto optimal solution. We propose a function called the skewed Mahalanobis distance (SMD) to obtain a Pareto optimal solution while retaining the advantages of the MD. The SMD is a new distance scale that multiplies the skewed value of a design point by the MD. The weighting factors are automatically reflected when the SMD is calculated. The SMD always gives a unique Pareto optimal solution. To verify the efficiency of the SMD, we present two numerical examples and show that the SMD can obtain a unique Pareto optimal solution without any additional information.

  • For investigating the effect of fuel stratification on flame propagation, initial flame development and propagation were visualized under different axially stratified states in a port injection SI engine. Stratification was controlled by the combination of the port swirl ratio and injection timing. Experiments were performed in an optical single cylinder engine modified from a production engine and images were captured through the quartz window mounted in the piston by an intensified CCD camera. Firstly in this paper, the characteristics under no port-generated swirl condition, i.e. normal conventional case was studied. Under various stratified conditions, flame images were captured at the pre-set crank angles. These were averaged and processed to characterize the flames propagation. The flame stability was estimated by the weighted average of flame area and luminosity. The stability was also evaluated through the standard deviation of flame area and propagation distance, and mean absolute deviation of propagating direction. Results show that stratification state according to injection timing do not affect on the direction of flame propagation. The flame development and the initial flame stability are strongly dependent on the stratified conditions and the initial flame stability is closely related to the engine stability and lean misfire limit.

  • This paper proposes a classification method of parallel, vertical parking states and pillars for parking assist system using ultrasonic sensors. Since, in general parking space detection module, the compressed amplitude of ultrasonic data are received, the analysis of them is difficult. To solve these problems, in preprocessing state, symmetric transform and noise removal are performed. In feature extraction process, four features, standard deviation of distance, reconstructed peak, standard deviation of reconstructed signal and sum of width, are proposed. Gaussian fitting model is used to reconstruct saturated peak signal and discriminability of each feature is measured. To find the best combination among these features, multi-class SVM and subset generator are used for more accurate and robust classification. The proposed method shows 92 % classification rate and proves the applicability to parking space detection modules.

  • In mobile radio communication, propagation paths are time or spacial varying because of the motion of mobile unit. The propagation path loss not only involves frequency and distance but also the antenna height at both the base station and the mobile unit, terrain configuration, and the man made en- vironment. Thhese additional factors make the prediction of propagation path loss of mobile radio signals more difficult. In this paper, it is measured field strenght of mobile radio signals in Daejeon and Seoul area, also calculated local median, 500m sample mean, and stadard deviation. As the result of analysis, it can be seen that propagation path loss of measured data is similiar to predicted field strength, especially local median is dependent upon base antenna height, terrain configuration and the man-made environment. The standard deviation has been noted to lie between 2 and 10 dBuV.

  • This study is to analyze the variability of floating marine debris(FMD) on the Kuroshio Current Area(KCA). A sighting survey was conducted from July 5th to July 16th, 2013 while navigating on KCA from Keelung, Taiwan to Tokyo, Japan using T/V KAYA of Pukyong National University. The sampled zones were divided into 6 transects and observed FMD during daytime in each transect. And also specified with 56 segments by defined one hour tracking distance as one segment on the survey routes. The results are as follows: 1. Hourly deviation of FMD's quality in each transect goes up to 10 times at NT, HS and SK. The others 3 times or so. 2. During the surveys, the largest amounts of it were found as total mean of $31.0num(ea)/km^2$ at NT transect in the northern part of Taiwan. So it is estimated because this area has gotten out of KCA. 3. And also quality of it on KCA was not directly related to Kuroshio Current's strong or weak. In conclusion, For the more detailed results on KCA are required of much more surveys.
