  • In the absence of a single deterministic rule for the channel assignment problems, heuristic algorithms are predominantly employed to partly solve the problems. This paper thus proposes deterministic rules for the channel assignment problems. These deterministic rules have successfully yielded the optimal solution when applied to the Philadelphia's 9 case examples.

  • This paper presents a comparative study of a few commonly used maintenance scheduling methods for small utilities that consists solely of thermal generating plants. Two deterministic methods and a stochastic method are examined. The deterministic methods employ the leveling of reserve capacity criterion, of which one uses a heuristic rule to level the deterministic equivalent load obtained by using the product of the unit capacity and its corresponding forced outage rate. The stochastic method simulates the leveling of risk criterion by using the peak load carry capacity of available units. The results indicate that for the size and type of the maintenance scheduling problem described In this study, the stochastic method does not produce a schedule which is significantly better than the deterministic methods.

  • In this paper, a comparison of various random vibration and deterministic dynamic analyses of cable-stayed bridges subjected to asynchronous ground motion is presented. Different random vibration methods are included to determine the dynamic behaviour of a cable-stayed bridge for various ground motion wave velocities. As a numerical example the Jindo Bridge located in South Korea is chosen and a 413 DOF mathematical model is employed for this bridge. The results obtained from a spectral analysis approach are compared with those of two random vibration based response spectrum methods and a deterministic method. The analyses suggest that the structural responses usually show important amplifications depending on the decreasing ground motion wave velocities.

  • The paper describes the preliminary ship design method using deterministic approach and probabilistic approach. In deterministic approach, there are computational aspects to applying not only the integration concurrently of principal dimension decisions and hull form variations but also hydrostatic coefficients that applied to optimization iterative process. Therefore, this paper developed that actual design concept at the preliminary ship design more than sequential design which separated in principal dimension decisions and hull form variations. Furthermore, a probabilistic approach at the preliminary ship design is applied to efficiently solve design information uncertainty that compared to deterministic approach.

  • The Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (DDPG) algorithm is an algorithm that learns by using artificial neural network s and reinforcement learning. Among the studies related to reinforcement learning, which has been recently studied, the D DPG algorithm has an advantage of preventing the cases where the wrong actions are accumulated and affecting the learn ing because it is learned by the off-policy. In this study, we experimented to control the bicycle autonomously by applyin g the DDPG algorithm. Simulation was carried out by setting various environments and it was shown that the method us ed in the experiment works stably on the simulation.

  • A fuzzy relation between X and Y as fuzzy subset of X × Y was proposed by Zadeh. Subsequently, several researchers have applied the notion of fuzzy subsets to various branches of mathematics and computer sciences. Murali an Nemitz have studied fuzzy relations connected with fuzzy equivalence relations and fuzzy functions. Ounalli and Jaoua defined a fuzzy difunctional relation on a set. difunctional relations are versatile mathematical tool, which can be used in software design and in database theory. Their work have revealed the usefulness of difunctional relations in program specification and in defining program correctness. The main goal of this paper is to define a fuzzy deterministic relation on a set, characterize the fuzzy deterministic relation as its level subsets and investigate some properties in connection with fuzzy deterministic relation. In particular we prove that a fuzzy relation R is fuzzy deterministic iff R is a fuzzy function.
