Preference of User Groups on Facade Elements of Remodeled Factories in Korea

  • The transition from manufacturing to service-based economies in highly developed societies during the post-industrial period resulted in the decline of the industrial landscape, leaving it abandoned or underutilized. In pursuit of revitalizing the obsolete industrial space, innovative design techniques based on adaptive reuse are applied to retrofit modern functions to create a new cultural space and preserve the historical, symbolic, and cultural importance of the abandoned industrial facilities. Design considerations based on facade redesign have proven to be one of the most adopted techniques that can help in recreating a new function for the vacant industrial buildings and integrating them into the present-day urban fabric. This paper examines the facade renovation elements used for the adaptive reuse of 15 abandoned industrial buildings presently used as multi-purpose facilities in South Korea. Through a questionnaire survey, this study analyzes the respondents' preference for different facade renovation elements in the 15 sites according to age and gender. The study found that both genders showed similar preference patterns between most elements. But on some elements, females were keener and expressed a stronger opinion than males. There were much more females than males who perceived color and material as the most important exterior elements. The findings of this study can be used for the adaptive reuse of industrial buildings according to user preferences for different facade renovation elements.

전류 재사용 기법을 이용한 저전력 CMOS LNA 설계 (Design of Low Power CMOS LNA for using Current Reuse Technique)

  • 본 논문에서는 단거리 무선 통신의 새로운 국제 표준으로 부상하고 있는 2.4 GHz ZigBee 응용을 위한 저전력 CMOS LNA(Low Noise Amplifier)를 설계하였다. 제안한 구조는 전류 재사용 기법을 이용한 2단 cascade구조이며 회로의 설계에서 TSMC $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS 공정을 사용하였다. 전류 재사용단은 두 단의 증폭기 전류를 공유함으로써 LNA의 전력 소모를 적게 하는 효과를 얻을 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 LNA설계 과정을 소개하고 ADS(Advanced Design System)를 이용한 모의실험 결과를 제시하여 검증하였다. 모의실험 결과, 1.0V의 전압이 인가될 때 1.38mW의 매우 낮은 전력 소모를 확인하였으며 이는 지금까지 발표된 LNA 중 가장 낮은 값이다. 또한 13.83dB의 최대 이득, -20.37dB의 입력 반사 손실, -22.48dB의 출력 반사 손실 그리 고 1.13dB의 최소 잡음 지수를 보였다.

소재 재활용에 의한 패션소품 디자인 개발 (Fashion Accessories Designed from Recycled Fabric Remnants)

  • Each season, many clothing companies dump small pieces of fabrics left over from making samples. Since fabrics do not decompose easily, this results in environmental pollution. This research was done to discover effective ways to reuse these fabric remnants. As most of these remnants were not large enough for making clothes, fashion accessories was chosen as the design object. Four steps of design development process followed: information research & analysis, prototype design & sample making, market testing, final design decision. After market research and trend analysis, four neck decoration wear -- scarf & muffler(SM). collar & cape(CC), vest & top(VT), and necklace(NE) -- were selected as final product types. 45 designs arose, and 120 items with variations in fabric materials and colors were produced as samples. The three main themes (multiple. reversible, cross) were applied throughout all of the design items. Samples were evaluated from the reactions of the consumers through a 10-day sale at a retail store. Based on the sales record and customers' opinions, five designs from each of the product types SM, CC, and VT were picked out as final designs. In conclusion, fashion accessories turned out to be a more appropriate item to reuse fabric remnants from clothing companies than clothes were, because they necessitate small fabric size and the limitation in fabrics could be compensated with creative design ideas.

목재가구 부산물(副産物)을 활용한 가구디자인 연구 (A Study on Furniture Design Using By-product of Wood Furniture)

  • Increasing concerns of environment need to make change furniture field to more environmentally friendly approach, such as reuse of by-products from wooden products. As it is, the methods of recycling wood for industrial purposes have the advantage of productivity and adaptability. However, the industrial way is required a certain production facility of processing wooden by-products and has possible hygienic problems due to contaminated sources. Many designers have developed their own methods for reuse of wood in unique and artistic ways. Even so, because of confined sources, it could be not enough supply. Therefore, I developed the design methodology utilizing wooden by-products from S Design Company to relieve former ways' problems. The design suggestion took materials from a safe and abundant source. The wooden leftover pieces were connected together with epoxy clay, so previous process traces of furniture are remained as a decorative factor. Moreover, the synthesized material was able to be processed by ordinary woodworking facilities without additional installations. In doing so, console table focused on a commercial purpose and dining table for an artistic objective were successfully fabricated as final suggestions. In consideration of the proposal using wooden furniture leftovers, diverse recycling designs should be investigated for future reference.

역공학을 이용한 소프트웨어 재사용 시스템에 관한 연구 (A study on Software Reuse System Using Reverse Engineering)

  • 소프트웨어 재 사용 기법은 기존의 시스템을 개발하는데 사용된 다양한 형태의 정보와 지식을 다른 시스템 개발에 재적용함으로써 생산성을 향상할 수 있고 유지보 수를 쉽게 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 C 및 C++로 개발된 원시 코드를 대상으로 역공 학을 이용하여 재사용 가능한 부품을 수출하고 이 부품을 저장 및 검색, 합성하여 사 용할 수 있는 재사용 시스템 CSORUS(C and C++ SOurce ReUse System)를 설계 및 구현 하였다. 역공학을 이용하여 재사용 부품을 구축할 경우 실무 분야에서 적용되어 검증 받은 신뢰도가 높은 부품이므로 재사용 부품의 신뢰도와 새로운 시스템의 유지보수를 쉽게 할 수 있다면 장점이 있다.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyzes the transition process and architectural characteristics of Naju's old railway station building from 1913 to 2002. It considers measures for the conservation and reuse. It analyzes investigation record of the condition of Naju's station from 1948 to 1993 and standard building design at Japanese colonial period. It analyzes as well, transition of building through the comparison of the results of an investigation in 1993 and those of the present conditions. In addition, it analyzes interviews with the city officials and residents in city.

온라인 여행사의 추천정보가 구매의사결정과 재사용의도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Online Travel Agency's Recommendation Information on Purchase Decision Making and Reuse Intention)

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate how OTA recommendation influences users' purchase decision making and reuse intention based on the users' destination type. And we compare the results of domestic destination and overseas destination. Design/methodology/approach This research model was designed with the recommendation elements of OTA. And this study conducted an empirical analysis using self-administered questionnaires. The target of the analysis is an individual who has purchased hotel rooms through the OTA for the past one year. A total of 374 usable data were collected (177 domestic respondents and 197 overseas respondents) and analyzed using partial least squares analysis using Smart-PLS 3.0. Findings Two OTA recommendation characteristics - recommendation accuracy and recommendation objectivity were significant in overall model. And easy of decision making was significantly affect to OTA reuse intention. Also, only recommendation accuracy variable was revealed to significant moderating variable between domestic model and overseas model.

  • Typical multi-tier client/server architecture includes various and complex objects scattered around the network. Those objects must be clearly identified and designed. Then, their interface must be well-defined so that the integration can be done without major difficulties. This paper presents an application framework to increase reuse and to accomplish architectural simplicity in information systems development. Each component of the architecture is identified and designed. The proposed architecture of the application framework provides the fundamental structure for developing individual functions of an information system. Resulting architectural simplicity achieves effective and efficient maintenance throughout the lifecycle of the information systems. Although the framework aims at the reuse within a project, the productivity of information systems development across projects will be greatly improved eventually. Cases are discussed to evaluate the practicality of the architecture presented.

Evaluation of an Abstract Component Model for Embedded Systems Development

  • Model-driven and component-oriented development is increasingly being used in the development of embedded systems. When combined, both paradigms provide several advantages, such as higher reuse rates, and improved system quality. Performing model-driven and component-oriented development should be accompanied by a component model and a method that prescribes how the component model is used. This article provides an overview on the MARMOT method, which consists of an abstract component model and a methodology for the development of embedded systems. The paper describes a feasibility study that demonstrates MARMOT's capability to alleviate system design, verification, implementation, and reuse. Results indicate that model-driven and component-based development following the MARMOT method outperforms Agile development for embedded systems, leads to maintainable systems, and higher than normal reuse rates.

  • Content is often developed inconsistently in technical authoring environments, as new documents are created and existing documents are revised. The Darwin Information Typing Architecture(DITA) is an XML-based, end-to-end architecture for authoring, producing, and delivering technical documentations. The core of most advanced authoring and publishing systems is the concept of content reuse. In this paper, we describe to design and implement an authoring and producing system of different technical documentations for the accreditation programs of Engineering Education using DITA XML. It provide a content reuse method for accomplishing the improvement of content consistency and the speed-up of the production in technical documentations.
