  • Nowadays, due to the increase of the aging population and the decreased size of the traditional nuclear family, pet dogs are considered to be important member of the family. The pet industry has been growing every year; subsequently, is essential to develop practical patterns and designs which are appropriate for the structure and movement of pet dogs. However, studies for developing a new form of pet dog's wear patterns and designs are limited. This study develops an all-in-one pattern which is based on pet dog's size, designs pet dog's wear items based on all-in-one patterns, and provides support to the manufacture of pet dog's wear. The results are as follow: 1) An analysis for the categories and design characteristics of all-in-one pet dog's wear according to the research from the online pet dog's wear shopping sites is provided. Eight categories are classified as follows: rompers, body suit, coveralls, training suit, special clothing, overalls, rain coat, and hanbok. 2) The production of all-in-one pet dog's wear basic pattern based on the basic bodice pattern from the prior studies and the manufacturer's patterns are being displayed. 3) Developments of the patterns and designs for eight all-in-one clothing consider the design characteristics and the situations. 4) Developments of the previous eight items illustrate the results of this research.

  • All-IP network requires change of the existing IP network engineering methods as the convergence service market between communication and broadcasting industries using IP network is growing rapidly. Especially the video services like IPTV require more strict transmission quality and higher bandwidth than the existing data services. So it is difficult to design All-IP network by the over-provisioning method which used to be used for the existing IP network design. It also requires a heavy investment which becomes one of big obstacles to the IPTV service expansion. In order to reduce the investment costs, it is required to design an optimized network by maximizing the utilization of the network resources and at the same time maintaining the customer satisfaction in terms of service quality. In this paper, we first analyze the effects of IPTV traffic on the existing internet. Then we compare two traffic engineering technologies, which are dimensioning without admission control and dimensioning with admission control, on the All-IP network design by simulation. Finally, we suggest cost effectiveness of traffic engineering technologies for designing the All-IP network.

  • A class of multi-factor designs for estimating the slope of second order response surfaces is presented. For multi-factor designs the variance of the estimated slope at a point is a function of the direction of measurement of the slope and the design. If we average the variance over all possible directions, the averaged variance is only a function of the point and the design. By choice of design, it is possible to make this variance constant for all points equidistant from the design origin. This property is called "slope-rotatability over all directions", and the necessary and sufficient conditions for a design to have this property are given and proved. The class of design with this property is mainly discussed.

  • Türkiye has made significant changes and updates in both seismic risk maps and design codes over time, as have other countries with high seismic risk. In this study, the last two seismic design codes and risk maps were compared for the Aegean Region (Western Türkiye) where the earthquake risk has once again emerged with the 2020 Izmir Earthquake (Mw=6.9). In this study, information about the seismicity of the Aegean Region was given. The seismic parameters for all provinces in the region were compared with the last two earthquake risk maps. The spectral acceleration coefficients of all provinces have increased and differentiated with the current seismic hazard map as a result of the design spectra used on a regional basis have been replaced by the geographical location-specific design spectra. In addition, section damage limits were obtained for all provinces within the scope of the last two seismic design codes. Structural analyses for a sample reinforced-concrete building were made separately for each province using pushover analysis. The deformations in the cross-sections were compared with the limit states corresponding to the damage levels specified in the last two seismic design codes for the region. Target displacement requests for all provinces have decreased with the current code. The differentiation of geographical location-specific design spectra both in the last two seismic design code and between provinces has caused changes in section damages and building performance levels. The main aim of this study is to obtain and compare both seismic and structural analysis results for all provinces in the Aegean Region (Western Türkiye).

  • Public buildings as a public space of the community have a close relationship with local residents and urban space. Public buildings are not a simple role as office space, but closely related to the life of the local residents. In addition, a variety of approaches, spatial, and program elements should be considered. Rising awareness for public buildings recently, aspect of design also has began to be interested. Small building is a public building that can actively cope with the social and economic environment in the rapid change. However, small building is lacking the design consideration according to the scale and economics. This paper is to present the Design Indicator that can be used to create 'small public buildings' that has been alienated from the large public buildings design development. This is intended to derive and utilize the design categories and design detail indicator of small public buildings. There are composition of design categories and design detail indicator of developed small public buildings. Design categories have developed six such as Public and Harmony, Access, Landscape Design, Space, Sustainable Design, Technique and Performance. Design Detail indicator of Small public buildings have developed all 24. Presented Design Categories and detail indicator are composed of design indicator available in all areas of design evaluation and review that includes design, function, environment, and technology of public buildings. And it is possible to apply with small public buildings in all purpose.

  • An integrated design system has as its aim the incoporation of all the design processes, such as, planning, preliminary design, analysis, detailed design (mamber design), evaluation, and drafting into an unified software system. Successful implementation such a system could lead to major improvements in efficiency by eliminating duplication of data and efforts. reducing errors, saving design time, providing management support, and so on. This study presents a methodology for an computer-integrated design system for building structures, synthesizing algorithmic procedures and knowledge based expert systems on the network database. Network database, which was designed to store all information systematically during the design processes, provides centeral communication area between algorithms and expert systems. The conventional procedural codes automate the routine design phases such as structural analysis, whereas knowledge-based expert systems support designer's decisions at the creative design phases such as preliminary design etc. The user interface with interactive and batch modes controls the design phases and manages design information and activates the algorithms and the expert systems. The concept presented in this paper will contribute to the formulation of automated design systems for building structures.

  • As the population of the aged and the disabled increases, the needs for universal design is also growing. Universal design is to design for diverse users including all ages from children to the elderly, the disabled and non-disabled, the pregnant, the tourist, and etc. This study is intended to develop the design evaluation tool and guidelines of universal design for applying to space design. In order to achieve this, four basic spaces in human living such as residential space, educational space, working space, and cultural space were selected. Then, the elements of universal design were chosen for each space. The numbers of areas in each space were 12 for residential spae, 5 for educational space, 6 for working space, and 6 for cultural space. Also, 60 elements of universal design for residential space, 53 for educational space, 36 for working space, and 46 for cultural space were selected. The field observation with photos and user evaluation survey were carried out for each space by using these elements. Finally, the elements and guidelines of universal design applied for spatial design were suggested. This consisted of 8 areas and 67 elements. This would be useful for designing space for all people.

  • The primary purpose of this study was to evolve integrated design process for Experiential Design which is based on the former study, 'The Influence of Cognitive Factors on the Creative Abilities in Design'. Experience is a transformation factor to all of the design processes, which has three phase of problem solving; Input, Process, and Output. We regard Experiential Design is a transforming process from concept to experience, and set up a mode) of Holistic Design Process (HDP), which consists of four domains: Four Causes, Thinking Modes, Sensory Modalities, and Creative Abilities. Revolving Sensory Modalities (SM), Creative Abilities (CA), and Thinking Modes (TM) around Product Design Specification (PDS) through a design process, Design Concepts ripen and mature into Externalization. Each component of Experiential Design (TM, SM, and CA) turns around the PDS. Here, experience is first perceived by the five senses. Then, the knowledge is formed, and the CA works for a problem solving. And TM controls all of these procedures. We regard these are a phenomenon of Experiential Design. The HDP can be helpful to develop valuable solutions and create a good experience.

  • The effects of risering design and alloying element on the formation of defects such as external depression, primary and secondary shrinkage cavities in ductile cast iron were investigated. Two types of risering design for the cylindrically step-wise specimen, No. 1(progressive solidification) and No. 2(directional solidification) risering designs, were prepared and six different alloy compositions were casted. In the No. 1 risering design, external depression or primary shrinkage cavities due to liquid contraction were observed in all the specimens from SG 10 to SG 60. The defects caused by liquid contraction seemed to be more affected by risering design than alloying elements. The secondary shrinkage cavities were also observed in all the specimens but a swollen surface was not observed in all the castings. The primary shrinkage cavities were located right under the top surface or connected to the top surface, and were characterized by smooth surfaces. On the other hand, the secondary shrinkage cavities were positioned in the thermal center of the specimen steps 3 and 4, and characterized by rough surfaces. In the No. 2 risering design, no external depression or primary shrinkage cavities due to liquid contraction were observed in all the specimens from SG 10 to SG 60. However, the secondary shrinkage cavities were formed in the thermal center of specimens SG 40, 50 and 60. Like the No. 1 risering design, a swollen surface was not observed in all the castings.
