스마트 기기 활용 설계 기반 STEAM 프로그램이 과학 흥미도와 융합인재소양에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of the Design Based STEAM Program Utilizing Smart Device for Interest in Science and STEAM Literacy)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of interest in science and STEAM Literacy through the use of the design based STEAM program utilizing Smart Device for elementary students. For the purpose of this study, a teaching plan and worksheet for students using STEAM Programs was developed and applied. The results of this study are as follows: First, the improvement in the interest in science score has statistically meaningful difference(p<.05). Second, the change in students^{\backprime} STEAM Literacy by applying the design based STEAM program utilizing Smart Device has statistically meaningful difference (p<.05). Third, according to the analysis of a questionnaire used to evaluate the program, students had a positive perception of the STEAM program and gained higher level of satisfaction about the lesson. Therefore, design based STEAM Program utilizing Smart Device applied in this study might be useful to improve STEAM Literacy, and can be expected to improve interest in science and should be widely applied to Science education.

  • STEAM education is an effective teaching method to develop self-problem-solving skills through creative thinking. In order to revitalize STEAM education, various program models are being developed recently. The purpose of this study is to develop a STEAM education program based on the project-based learing method that includes the process of solving global environmental problems. The STEAM element was extracted by linking the zero energy house design with the middle school curriculum, and the STEAM education program was developed considering career activities. It was analyzed whether the developed program can improve STEAM core competence and job preparation ability. The education program was conducted for middle school students and the program was evaluated through questionnaires. In order to strengthen the STEAM competency, project-based learning method was applied and it was able to enhance the active problem solving ability of learners. In addition, opportunities for career experience could be provided through career exploration programs and various activities. Through this STEAM education program, it is expected to contribute to cultivating human resources with convergence knowledge and core competency.

  • Korea is promoted STEAM education since 2011. Furthermore, in high school education, based on the in-depth elective course's teaching and learning contents of science. The STEAM program can improve students' competence because it encourages to self-directed learning through the vocational project performance. Therefore, in this study, we researched a design education program for the experience of fusion and complex design based on STEAM education concept. We developed an education program to design insulation wall systems using up-cycling concepts to increase energy efficiency. As a result, the characteristics of the fusion education and the theoretical study about the learner-centered education curriculum, the analysis of the high school curriculum, the STEAM elements, The program was revised and supplemented through consultation with STEAM experts. In addition, the developed program was applied to high school students, and each step were analyzed based on the educational method theory. The following results were obtained. First, this study presented a program to cope with the needs of high school intensive education. Second, it provided learning motivation by combining flipped-learning as a way to train STEAM education contents. Third, it is required to develop differentiated and continuous program development and data sharing Fourth, in order to operate and promote the future environment design STEAM school, it is necessary to expand educational programs for high school students in the region through linkage with various universities.

  • Recent changes in the Korean education policies are promoting the advances in science and technology and cultivating people of convergence talent. STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) educational program is Korean styled convergence program for creative competent human resources. Therefore, Therefore the aim of this study is developing convergence hand-on educational program coping with climate change for elementary school students. For development of the program, we investigated the curriculum of the elementary school about the climate change, and allocated in the creative learning standard frame. Also, we selected themes related the climate change in the curriculum and learning activity. For more effective program to build the convergence competency, we analyzed the program based on creative problem based learning process and 4 core competency(creativity, communication, convergence, caring) elements. In conclusion, the STEAM program needs to develop by school curriculum and leaner's ability. For elementary school students, the STEAM program consists with creative problem based learning process. And the convergence educational program would analyze by the creative PBL process and convergence competency elements. So, this developing program has brought the promotion of the creative convergence competent talented person for the future global environment.

초·중등학생을 위한 디자인적 사고기반의 STEAM교육 프로그램의 효과 (Effect of Design Thinking-based STEAM Program for Primary and Secondary Students)

  • This study aims to investigate the effect of design thinking-based STEAM program for primary and secondary students. The design thinking-based STEAM program dealt with advanced scientific technology issues and it consisted of 8 topics. A questionnaire was developed to explore the change of Science concept awareness, Interest, Self-efficacy, Career consciousness of students through the program. The questionnaire consisted of following 4 areas, such as 'Science concept awareness', 'Interest', 'Career consciousness' and 'Self efficacy'. Pre-post test was conducted to 75 primary and secondary students. As a result of analyzing post-test compared to pre-test, 'Science concept awareness', 'Career consciousness' and 'Self efficacy' of students were improved. And the 'Interest' wasn't changed significantly. Through this research, it can be suggested that the design thinking-based STEAM program can be useful at school education to improve the Science concept awareness, Career consciousness and Self-efficacy of primary and secondary students. It is also proposed that further research of the various areas of interest and other affective variables will be needed.

인포그래픽 기반 STEAM 프로그램 개발 및 효과성 검증 (Development of an Infographic-Based STEAM Program)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an infographic-based STEAM program for high school students and test its effectiveness. In this study, we converged high school 'art' education with 'Korean language' and 'mathematics.' The program was divided into four phases. The effectiveness of the program was analyzed by conducting matched pair t-test for 377 students at a girl's high school in Seoul before and after the program. The study found that the students' self-concept on mathematics and their attitude towards choosing science and engineering career showed significant increases after the program. By connecting high school courses through data visualization based on cognitive information design, findings from this study suggest that our infographic-based STEAM program should be implemented more frequently at high schools.

  • A computer program, capable of performing thermal design analysis of the triple pressure bottoming system of combined cycle power plants, was developed. The program is based on thermal analysis of the heat recovery steam generator and estimation of its size and steam turbine power. The program is applicable to various parametric analyses including optimized design calculation. This paper presents examples of analysis results for the effects of arrangement of heat exchanger units, steam pressures and deaerating sources on design performance indices such as steam turbine power and the size of heat recovery steam generator.

자율주행자동차를 주제로 한 역공학 기반 STEAM 프로그램 개발 (The Development of STEAM Program based on Reverse Engineering on the Subject of Autonomous Vehicle)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 역공학을 기반으로 한 STEAM 교육 프로그램을 자율 주행 자동차를 주제로 개발하는 것이다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 역공학을 기반으로 한 STEAM 프로그램을 5단계를 거쳐 개발하였다. 자율 주행 자동차를 주제로 분석, 설계, 개발, 실행, 평가 단계로 개발하였다. 먼저 분석 단계에서 역공학을 기반으로 하는 STEAM 교육의 정의, 목표, 내용 영역 및 교수 및 학습 방법을 선정하였다. 또한 세부 목표와 내용 영역을 추출했다. 두번째, 설계 단계에서 전문가와의 협의를 거쳐 주제를 선정하고, 2015 개정 교육 과정과 STEAM 교육 과정의 연계성을 바탕으로 교육 목표와 학습 내용을 선정하고 정리하였다. 다음으로 개발 단계에서는 교사용 교수학습 지도서와 학생 교과서를 개발하고, 서울 소재 OO중학교 2학년 71명에게 예비 적용한 후 수정 보완하였다. 실행 단계에서는 충청남도에 위치한 OO중학교 학생 120명을 대상으로 교육 프로그램을 적용하고 효과성 분석을 위한 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 마지막으로 평가 단계에서 실시한 프로그램을 토대로 교사 및 학생 대상으로 평가가 이루어졌으며 그 결과에 따라 수정하고 보완하였다.

활동 중심 STEAM 프로그램이 중학생들의 과학 학습 흥미도에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Activity-Based STEAM Education program on Middle School Students' Interest in Science Learning)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 활동 중심 STEAM 교육 프로그램을 개발하고, 이 프로그램이 학생들의 과학 학습 흥미도에 미치는 효과를 알아보기 위한 것이다. 이 프로그램은 7학년 과학반을 대상으로 적용되었다. 이 연구는 단일집단 사전사후검사 설계로 이루어졌다. 검사도구로는 과학학습 흥미도 검사지를 활용했다. 대응표본 t 검정 결과 과학 학습 흥미에 대한 사전 검사와 사후 검사 사이에는 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 또한 학습 흥미도의 하위 영역인 과학에 대한 태도, 과학학습 인식, 과학학습 전략면에서도 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과는 STEAM 교육 프로그램이 학생들의 과학 학습 흥미도를 높이는데 효과적임을 나타낸 것이다. 따라서 앞으로 활동 중심 STEAM 교육 프로그램의 효과에 관한 연구들이 지속적으로 이루어져야 할 것이다.

STEAM 수업에서 나타난 초등학생의 창의적 설계 과정 질적 분석 (Qualitative Analysis of the Creative Design Process of Elementary School Students in STEAM Class)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the character of the creative design processes that appear at the creative design stage of the design thinking based on STEAM class and what factors affect the creative design process. Students who served as the subjects of this study were 4 elementary school students. We developed the design thinking based on STEAM program to look more specific the creative design process. The project was conducted with a total of 12 sheets of paper materials. The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, the problem solving process of the design thinking based on STEAM classes is not anticipatory and is cyclical and complex. So, teachers should provide sufficient time for students to create and simulate ideas and accept the solving problems through trial and error. Second, Having presented the STEAM class as a practical problem in the real world, there was less fear of students' failure and heightened motivation and enthusiasm. Providing with the real topic and open questions in classrooms can lead to students' voluntary participation in the classroom. Third, In the design thinking based on STEAM class, students develop concrete ideas through visualization courses. The group of students made the best solutions through communication.
