  • The environment friendly calcareous deposit films were formed on steel plates by electrodeposition technique in natural seawater and synthetic solutions such as dissolved $\textrm{Mg}^{2+}$ and $\textrm{Ca}^{2+}$ ions at various potential conditions. The influence of potential conditions on composition ratio, structure and morphology of the electrodeposited films were investigated by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS) and X-ray diffractor (XRD). Accordingly, this study was provided a better understanding of the composition between the growth of $\textrm{Mg(OH)}_2$ and that of $\textrm{CaCO}_3$ during the formation of calcareous deposit films on steel substrate under cathodically electrodeposition in synthetic and natural seawater. The results showed that the formation of good overall calcareous deposited film in seawater can be achieved by controlling the Ca/Mg ratio according to interfacial pH with the effective use of the electro deposition technique.

  • Magnetite deposit of Pocheon Iron Mine is a contact replacement skarn deposit embedded in the carbonate rocks (limestone and dolomite) which are intruded by granite porphyry. The shape of ore bodies is sweet potato-like and/or irregular massive form; D-ore body, the biggest one is of $180m{\times}40m{\times}200m$ in size. The ore is in general of high grade. The location of the ore bodies is controlled by the fault which strikes north south and dips $60^{\circ}$ to $70^{\circ}$ to the west. A regular distribution of mineralized zones is recognized in order of outward (hanging wall side) from granite porphyry as follows: compact fine-grained skarn, limesilicates, magnetite ore body, marble, limesilicates, pyritized meta-sediments.

  • Measurement of spray deposit is necessary for evaluation of a chemical application technology. However it is not easy and time consuming. A simple method for measuring the deposition amount of spray using a tracer and a spectrophotometer was developed. Various materials were tested to determine an adequate tracer. Food dye was selected as a tracer, because it was cheep and easily treatable. Using NIRS(Near Infrared Reflection Spectrophotometer), a regression curves between maximum absorbance of a solution and concentration of the tracer were obtained. Yellow food dye solution showed a peak of spectrum at 452 nm, and absorbance of peak showed a tendency to increase as concentration increased. Green or pink food dye were tested and judged to be good tracers. However, tracer concentration should not exceed certain limits in order to measure maximum absorption. Using spraying liquid with known tracer concentration and known amount of washing liquid, spray deposit amount on real targets on leaves could be estimated at less than 13% error level.

  • In the present study, deposition of discrete and small particles on a filter fiber was simulated by stochastic method. Trajectory of each particle was numerically solved by Langevin equation. And Lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) was used to solve flow field around the filter collector for considering complex shape of deposit layer. Interaction between the flow field and the deposit layer was obtained from a converged solution from an inner-loop calculation. Simulation method is properly validated with filtration theory and collection efficiency due to different filtration parameters are examined and discussed. Morphology of deposit layer and its evolution was visualized in terms of the particle size. The particle loaded effect on collection efficiency was also discussed.

  • Thick and dense deposit of higher than 97% of theoretical density was formed by induction plasma spraying. To investigate the effects of powder morphology on the density of deposit, two different kinds of Yttria-Stabilized-Zirconia powder, METCO202NS (atomized & agglomerated) and AMDRY146 (fused & crushed), were used and compared. After plasma treatment, porous METCO202NS powder was all the more densely deposited and its density was increased. In addition to the effect of powder morphology, the process parameters such as, sheath gas composition, probe position, particle size and spraying distance, and so on, were evaluated. The result of experiment with AMDRY146 powder, particle size and spraying distance affected highly on the density of the deposit. The optimum process condition for the deposition of -75 ${\mu}m$ of 20%-Yttria-Stabilized-Zirconia powder was 120/201/min of Ar/$H_2$ gas rate, 80 kW of plasma plate power, 8 cm of probe position and 150 Torr of spraying chamber pressure, at which its density showed 97.91% of theoretical density and its deposition rate was 20 mm/min. All the results were assessed by statistical approach what is called ANOVA.

  • This study examined a case of collapse and reinforcement of the colluvial deposit slope in Kyeongnam Geoje Area. The reason for the collapse was found first in the reduction of the resistant force due to slope-cut for constructing retaining walls. This decreased the resistant force against sliding, which enabled precipitation during the rainy period to seep into the ground in the upper colluvium, resulting in increase in porewater pressure. This leads to decreased shear strength and increased sliding force, which ultimately caused the collapse of the slope. For the long-term stability, methods attained for stability reinforcement are summarized in the following table.

  • Palladium is widely used for several applications and recovery of palladium from secondary sources becomes increasingly important since palladium is one of maldistributed platinum group metals. Electrochemical recovery of dense palladium metal sheet from Pd leaching solution is a simple and easily controlled method. The surface morphology of the recovered Pd metal was significantly affected by current density and temperature. Dense deposit morphology was in higher stress state regardless of preparation condition under $55^{\circ}C$. Rising temperature up to $70^{\circ}C$ had a stress releasing effect besides densification of Pd deposit.

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the variations of headloss rate and of specific deposit to depths with effective size of media and configuration of filter layer during algae blooming period. 0.51mm size media was disqualified because most of headloss occurred rapidly below 5cm from surface layer however 0.91mm size media acted deep filtration more than 20cm from top, as result 0.91mm sixte media filter had 2~3 times longer filtration time than 0.51mm sixte media filter, but 0.91mm size media have break-through potentiality. multi-layer filter with 1.02mm anthracite and 0.51mm sand had large deposit volume in upper layer that could longer filtration time, moreover smaller media in lower layer that could protect break-through.

  • Result from Amendment of Apartment Houses Decree Customer Service, Recently, the starting point of Defects Liability changed "Criteria of Completion date" to "Delivery date to Divided property". Through the Law amended, There are some inconsistency between "Claim for repairing defects" and "Period of security deposit for repairing defects claim". If someone bought a house after Completion date, Purchasing period of "Claim to security deposit for repairing defects" lapsed without renewal. This research is to identify problems and solutions for improving the system.
