This study aimed to demonstrate the complex and structural relationships between (a) the purposes of using mobile phones, and (b) the levels of mobile phone dependency and depressive symptoms among elementary school students. We analyzed data from the 3rd Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey using structural modeling. Results showed the level of mobile phone usage for contacting family members negatively affected the mobile phone dependency. However, the levels of mobile phone usage for contacting friends and personal entertainment positively influenced the mobile phone dependency. Mobile phone dependency positively affected depressive symptoms. Mobile phone dependency partially mediated the relationship between the level of mobile phone usage for contacting family members and depressive symptoms. Mobile phone dependency fully mediated two relationships: (1) between the level of mobile phone usage for contacting friends and depressive symptoms and (2) between the level of mobile phone usage for personal entertainment and depressive symptoms.

This study examined the influence of self- efficacy for smoking cessation, depression, social support and nicotine dependency in the college male smoker. This survey design was adopted for 149 male college students in Gyeongbuk. Data were gathered from September 7 to 18, 2016. Data was analyzed for descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression. There was a significant positive correlation between depression and nicotine dependency. There was a significant negative correlation between self-efficacy for smoking cessation and nicotine dependency and between social support and nicotine dependency. The significant factors influencing nicotine dependency were self-efficacy for smoking cessation and depression. This model explained 34% of variance in nicotine dependency. The results suggest that an intervention program is needed to reduce the depression and to increase the ability of self-efficacy for smoking cessation in the college male smoker.

The purpose of the present study was to examine the causal relationship between aggression and mobile phone dependency among high school students and to test the mediating effect of self-esteem, and to draw out implications in order to encourage proper use of mobile phone. In this paper, we proposed a research model between aggression, self-esteem and mobile phone dependency. The present study analyzed the fourth, fifth, and sixth wave data from KCYPS 2010, using the structural equation modeling. The primary results were as follows. First, the effect of high school students' aggression on mobile phone dependency was not significant. Second, high school students' aggression had a significantly negative effect on self-esteem. Third, high school students' self-esteem had a significantly positive effect on mobile phone dependency. Fourth, high school students' self-esteem could be a significant mediator between aggression and mobile phone dependency. In conclusion, theoretical and practical suggestions were discussed in order to solve the problem of adolescents' mobile phone dependency.

This study is objected to identify the influencing factors of adolescents' smartphone dependency and to determine the degree of influence on smartphone dependency through direct and indirect channels acting between factors. The data of the 2th Korean Child-Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS 2018) was analyzed using the SPSS 26.0 and 26.0 AMOS program. Six paths proved to statistically significant. Self-esteem and depression were the influencing factors of adolescents' smartphone dependency. Social withdrawal and the school environment influenced smartphone dependency through self-esteem and depression as mediators. Self-esteem and depression acted as mediating factors. Adolescents' smartphone dependency was influenced not only by personal factors but also by external factors such as the school environment. The results of this study will be presented as evidence for developing programs that can prevent adolescents from smartphone dependency.

This study analyzed private pension dependency of Korea and U.S. households using the most recent dataset of two countries. For this purpose, 2013 Korean Retirement and Income Study(KReIS) of national pension research institute in Korea and 2013 SCF(Survey of Consumer Finances) of FRB in U.S. were used. The private pension dependency was defined as the proportion of private pension wealth among total financial wealth in each household and tobit model was used to investigate determinants of private pension dependency of the two countries. After controlling for other factors, household income and net worth, age, educational attainment, and health status of householder were crucial determinants of private pension dependency for both countries. Householder's age, educational attainment, and health tend to increase the private pension dependency in Korea and U.S. However, household income and net worth affected the private pension dependency opposite direction. The private pension dependency increased with high level of income and net worth in Korea, while it decreased with high level of income and net worth in U.S. Results of this study provide useful implications for future pension system and policy in Korea.

This study aimed to examine the effect of parentification on the smartphone dependency of upper elementary school children in double-income families and to verify whether ambivalence over emotional expression and loneliness sequentially mediates the relationship between parentification and smartphone dependency. The participants were 311 upper-elementary school students (4th to 6th graders; 126 boys, 40.5%) in doubleincome households residing in Seoul, Gyeong-gi, and Incheon. The data were collected through an online self-report questionnaire completed by the participants and were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 and Mplus 8.7 software. The results can be summarized as follows. Firstly, the direct effect of parentification on the smartphone dependency of the children from double-income families was statistically insignificant. Secondly, ambivalence over emotional expression mediated the effect of parentification on smartphone dependency, while loneliness did not. Lastly, parentification influenced smartphone dependency through the sequential mediating channel of ambivalence over emotional expression and loneliness. In conclusion, these findings indicate that interventions for smartphone-overdependent children from double-income families should place emphasis on children's psychological difficulties attributed to parentification. Specifically, this study highlights the importance of alleviating the levels of ambivalence over emotional expression and loneliness to address the issue of children's smartphone dependency in double-income families, suggesting possible involvement and support at both household and societal levels.

Purpose: This study was performed to verify the effect of acupressure on the spots of auricular with semen sinapis albae in male grown up employees for nicotine dependency. Method: The subjects investigated for this study were fifty male grown up employees(the 25 subjects belong to experimental group and the remaining 25 subjects belong to control group) who are employed at a company. The experimental group(N=25) underwent acupressure on the spots of auricular with semen sinapis albae and the control group(N=25) underwent no treatment. Result: The nicotine dependency of experimental group who underwent acupressure with semen sinapis albae on the spots of auricular decreased much more than in those of control group who didn't undergo acupressure with semen sinapis albae on the spots of auricular. Conclusion: Accounting from the research, it was proved that the acupressure on the spots of auricular with semen sinapis albae is very effective for nicotine dependency.

Dependency Grammar has been used by Iinguists as the basis of the syntactic components of their grammar formalisms. It has also been used in natural langauge parsing. In China, attempts have been made to use this grammar formalism to parse Chinese sentences using corpus based techniques. This paper reviews the properties of Dependency Grammar as embodied in four axioms for the well-formedness conditions for dependency structures. It is shown that allowing mul tiple governors as done by some followers of this formalism is unnecessary. The practice of augmenting Dependency Grammar with functional labels is discussed in the light of building functional structures when the sentence is parsed. This will also facilitate semantic interpretion.retion.
