  • Purpose: This study was aimed to compare skin entrance dose of digital radiography with that of film radiography and to show the dose reduction achievement with digital systems at 11 dental schools in Korea. Materials and Methods: Forty six intraoral radiographic systems in 11 dental schools were included in this study. Digital sensors were used in 33 systems and film was used in 13 systems. Researchers and the volunteer visited 11 dental schools in Korea. Researchers asked the radiologic technician (s) at each school to set the exposure parameters and aiming the x-ray tube for the periapical view of the mandibular molar of the volunteer. The skin entrance doses were measured at the same exposure parameters and distance by the technician for each system with a dosimeter (Multi-O-Meter : Unfors instruments, Billdal, Sweden). Results: The median dose was $491.2{\mu}Gy$ for digital radiography and $1,205.0{\mu}Gy$ for film radiography. The skin entrance dose in digital radiography was significantly lower than that of film radiography (p<0.05). Conclusion: Fifty-nine percent skin entrance dose reduction with digital periapical radiography was achieved over the film radiography in Korean dental schools.

Especially we analyzed the important factor causing inconvenience for work environment. As a result, we had examined, we found following results The sand table was the most uncomfortable equipment, when they have clinical training. There is no correlation between sexual characteristics of junior in college and selection of uncomfortable equipment. It is reasonable to assume that sand table which is lower than recommended height brings out inconvenience. It is analyzed that the optimum height of sand table in dental lab for junior in college is lower than the recommended height. The optimum height of sand table in dental lab has deviation according to height of junior in college. The height of worktable in dental lab was lower than recommended height. • Not to recreate the final prosthesis is the shortest way to get a successful outcome. In the case of an aesthetic prosthesis, it is important not only the condition of the oral cavity but also the whole harmony in the face such as the interpupillary line and the smile line. But the dental technician creates the prosthesis only based on the oral model. So if you want to prevent the failure of the prosthesis due to discordance with the face, it is a good idea to use patient's facial photography and provisional restorations to reproduce facial features, shapes and aesthetics before switching to a final prosthesis. To prevent the failure of the final prosthesis, it is important to communicate among the patient, the technician and the doctor according to the model diagnosis, facial and oral photos. Then all the technicians will get satisfactory results. In addition, the technician have to understand the form of natural teeth, to analyze and reproduce colors, and to understand materials in order to produce a successful aesthetic prosthesis. From now on, I will explain two parts. At first, the communication in the dental office for the successful production of aesthetic prosthesis through the clinical case. And the second, my opinion for the successful aesthetic prosthesis.

  • Generally, the esthetics is thought to mean health. On the assumption that dental esthetics must also be in harmony with general health, dental restorations have to be made in order for patients to appear to be healthy and vivacious in their mouth and result in good appearances. Therefore, I wish that patients live their life without a sense of disharmony in esthetic and biological aspect. This article is to explain some cases that manifest improvement of quality in dental treatment by means of team approach.
