A treatment should be functional, esthetic, conservative and periodontally healthy in order to meet criteria of an ideal dental procedure. In a prsthodontic patient with horizontal and/or vertical space deficiency, orthodontic tooth movement should be considered as a pre-prosthetic procedure. With a conventional technique, orthodontic treatment is a time-consuming and uncomfortable procedure. Pre-prosthetic orthodontic treatment, however, is no longer difficult procedure with the help of recently developed techniques, such as passive bracketing. The present article outlines the problems and causes of horizontal and vertical space deficiency in prosthodontic patients, and presents efficient pre-prosthetic orthodontic treatment modalities with typical clinical cases.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluated the process of model analysis, design, and production for a full mouth prosthetic rehabilitation of function, esthetics, and pronunciation. Methods: This is a case report of class III malocclusion with a severe anterior incisor occlusion and a prosthetic treatment of patient with poor occlusion of posterior teeth. A provisional restoration based on the diagnostic wax-up was applied to the patient. And then functions, esthetics, and occlusal stability were observed during 4 week tracking period. Final restorations were delivered and evaluated based on a systematic analysis, diagnosis and treatment plan. Results: We confirms that this case study obtained the satisfactory results in terms of functions and esthetics. Conclusion : If we can give the patient the continuous evaluation and progress monitoring, we expect the dentist and the dental technician to design the prosthesis successfully.

Whether congenitally abscent or lost as the of an accident or pathologic condition, missing lateral incisors present a problem. which complicates orthodontic treatment. The condition requires careful treatment planning and a consideration of the options and outcomes following either space closure or prosthetic replacement. Thos study prasents the clinical cases with maxillary lateral incisors missing. following optimal diagnosis and treatment planning , considerations in treatment in these cases.

Korean dental hygienists perform more tasks in dental clinics than are described in the law. The purpose of this study was to investigate the actual work of Korean dental hygienists in dental clinics using an observational study design. Two dental hygienists observed and recorded the work performed in 1 day from the time of commencement to the time of leaving work by 18 dental hygienists working in the dental clinic in a single area. Data management, prevention of infection, counseling, calculus removal, radiography, assistance of fixed orthodontic treatment, assistance of fixed prosthetic treatment, and preparation for implant surgery were recorded. Among the tasks that take more than 1 min, the most time-consuming tasks were document management, infection control, consultation, calculus removal, preparation for implant surgery, assistance of orthodontic treatment, and assistance of fixed prosthetic treatment. Korean dental hygienists are performing various tasks, such as infection control, dental hospital/clinic management, oral disease prevention, and dental treatment assistants.

The aim of this study was to assess change of the oral health related quality of life after fixed prosthetic treatment using implant therapy. One hundreds and twenty patients from 3 dental clinics in Seoul, Incheon and Daegu were recruited after verbal consent. The oral health related quality of life by OHIP-14, the treatment satisfaction by North Texas Periodontal Associates and the oral health interest w+ere measured before fixed prosthetic treatment using implant and one months after prosthetics. Total OHIP-14 changed significantly between pre- and post- treatment (p<0.001). Although gender(p=0.01), economic status (p=0.04) and education status (p=0.01) affect to OHIP-14 significantly before treatment, these factors didn't have effects on OHIP-14 after treatment. The subjective satisfaction in masticatory function, social function and psychological function increased significantly after treatment (p<0.001). Besides, the patients' oral health interests increased significantly after treatment (p<0.001). The fixed prosthetic treatment using implant therapy can improve the oral health related quality of life, subjective satisfaction of mastication, social function and psychological function, and oral health interest of dental patients.

Dental clinicians often encounter cases wherein the patient's lost molar area was neglected and left untreated for an extended period of time, thereby causing the extrusion of opposite molars and occlusal disharmony as well as occlusion in the anterior teeth and consequently resulting in anterior displacement in the area. Clinicians normally carry out prosthetic treatment via occlusal plane lifting when such becomes absolutely necessary due to the lack of sufficient space needed for prosthetic therapy aimed at proper anterior and lateral induction. In this case report, we examined occlusal disharmony and VDO loss in a patient who had lost his molars and had not received prosthetic treatment for an extended period of time. We treated the maxillary area with dental implant prosthetics and Kennedy Class I RPD and the mandibular area with residual natural tooth-based implant placement and dental implant prosthetics. The patient reported treatment outcomes that were deemed satisfactory both functionally and aesthetically.

This case study is aimed at introducing a full-mouth rehabilitation of a patient with severe tooth wear using fixed prosthesis. This is a case report of a patient with severe wear dentition with changing vertical dimension. In line with using prosthetic treatment, patient adaptation was verified with provisional restorations followed by diagnostic wax-up. Function, esthetics, and occlusal stability were verified during a 4-week follow up period. Prosthodontic reconstruction based on systemic analysis, diagnosis, and treatment plan led to satisfactory results after delivery of definitive prosthesis. Prosthetic treatment of severe wear dentition was functionally and esthetically successful. Dentists and dental technicians would be able to develop better treatment approaches using fixed dental prosthesis.

If the implant is planted in the wrong position or direction, it is disadvantageous for stress distribution, and it is easy to cause complications such as screw loosening, abutment fracture, and implant fracture. If the position or orientation of the implant is not good, efforts should be made to minimize the problem through proper implant prosthetic treatment. In this article, the prosthetic method for facilitating future maintenance in cases with poor implant placement or orientation will be presented.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the oral health knowledge and actual oral health care of the selected subjects, their decision making about prosthetic treatment, the state and characteristics of their prosthetic treatment and their satisfaction with prosthetic treatment in an attempt to provide some information on the improvement of the quality of life related to oral health and the promotion of oral health. Methods : The subjects in this study were 250 people who received education in two different lifelong education institutions in the city of Busan. After a survey was conducted from May 23 to June 15, 2011, the answer sheets from 217 respondents were analyzed. Results : 1. As for the general characteristics of the respondents, the men(52.1%) outnumbered the women. Those who were in their 60 and up(47.5%) made up the largest age group, and the married people(65.4%) outnumbered the unmarried ones. By occupation, the company employees(20.3%) made up the biggest group. By education, the greatest group was high-school graduates(36.1%). By monthly mean income, the biggest group gained an income of 2.01 million won or more(36.9%). As to medical security, community-based insurance was most prevailing (36.9%). In terms of health promotion, the largest group worked out to stay fit(52.4%). 2. Regarding oral health knowledge, they had a good knowledge about the cause of dental caries(56.7%), but they weren't well aware of the right time for regular dental checkup(47.9%). In relation to oral health care, regular scaling wasn't prevailing(16.9%). 3. Regarding connections between the general characteristics and satisfaction with prosthesis, the less-educated respondents expressed significantly more dissatisfaction(p=0.015). By monthly mean income, those who had a smaller income were dissatisfied in general(p=0.028). Conclusions : The findings of the study illustrated that it's required to spread awareness of the importance of oral health among people in general, and that differentiated incremental oral health care should be provided for different age groups. In order to raise the satisfaction of patients with prosthesis, how to relieve their pain and anxiety and how to adjust prosthetic treatment cost properly should carefully be considered. In addition, the government should take measures to offer assistance for the low-income classes in preparation for an increase in the elderly population.
