  • In this work, we propose a planar three degree-of-freedom parallel mechanism as another type of assembly device which utilized joint compliances. These joint compliances can be adjusted either by properly replacing the joint compliances or by actively controlling stiffness at joints, in order to generate the desired operational compliance characteristics at RCC point, The operational compliance matrix for this mechanism is explicitly obtained by symbolic manipulation and its operational compliance characteristics are examined, it is found that the RCC point exists at the center of the workspace when the mechanism maintains symmetric configurations. Compliance characteristic and its sensitivity of this mechanism is analyzed with respect to the magnitude of the diagonal compliance components and two different matrix norms measuring compliance sensitivity. It is expected that the analysis results provide the designer with a helpful information to determine a set of optimal parameters of this RCC mechanism.

  • Polyethylene maleate (PEM) and epoxy resin cinnamate (BEC) were prepared to investigate their photosensitivity. Various samples coated on glass plate were exposed to light under various conditions and steeped in the same solvent as used for coating, and then the yield of residual film (W/$W_0$) was calculated. The yield (W/$W_0$), which was closely related to the sensitivity of the film, was affected by the degree of polymerization of the film, light source, sensitizers land their concentration. In polymer homologs, the sensitivity depended upon degree of polymerization. Most effective sensitizers for PEM and BEC among those used here were benzanthrone and 2,6-dichloro-4-nitroaniline.

  • The satellite in a circular orbit about a planet with disturbances and a three-degree-of-freedom (3DOF) structure under seismic excitations are modeled by the linear stochastic differential equations. Then the risk-sensitive optimal control method is applied to those equations. The mean and the variance of the cost function varies with respect to the risk-sensitivity parameter, .gamma.$_{RS}$ . For a particular risk-sensitivity parameter value, risk-sensitive control reduces to LQG control. Furthermore, the derivation of the mean square value of the state and control action are given for a finite-horizon full-state-feedback risk-sensitive control system. The risk-sensitive controller outperforms a classical LQG controller in the mean square sense of the state and the control action.

  • This study predicts the modified eigenvectors and eigenvalues of the non-proportional damped structure due to the change in the mass, damping and stiffness of structure by iterative method of the sensitivity coefficient using the original dynamic characteristic. The method is applied to the non-proportional damped 3 degree of freedom system by modifying the mass, damping and stiffness. The predicted dynamic characteristics are showed a good agreement with these from the structural reanalysis using the modified mass, damping and stiffness.

  • Sensitivity studies of blade angle and twisted angle are numerically investigated to optimize the Savonius blade. As blade angle increases, the contact area between blade and wind decreases, showing the suppression of the vortex generation near blade. Compared to the blade angle of 0 degree, the blade angle of 20 degree shows about 2.6% increment of power efficiency. Based on the blade angle of 20 degree, sensitivity studies of the twisted angle are performed. The result indicates that the adjustment of the twisted angle causes the torque of blade to increase. Optimized blade can suppress the formation of the vortex structure in rear region. Also, wind flows without disturbance of vortex when passing through the optimized blade. The 1kw vertical wind turbine system with optimized blade can generate 4442.2kWh per year and have 53% capacity factor.

  • A radiological safety assessment was performed for a hypothetical near-surface radioactive waste repository as a simple screening calculation to identify important nuclides and to provide insights on the data needs for a successful demonstration of compliance. Individual effective doses were calculated for a conservative ground water pathway scenario considering well drilling near the site boundary. Sensitivity of resulting ingestion dose to input parameter values was also analyzed using Monte Carlo sampling. Considering peak dose rate and assessment time scale, C-14 and T-129 were identified as important nuclides and U-235 and U-238 as potentially important nuclides. For C-14, the dose was most sensitive to Darcy velocity in aquifer The distribution coefficient showed high degree of sensitivity for I-129 release.

  • Purpose: This study was to investigate the effect of breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) increase with drinking alcohol on contrast sensitivity in the conditions of restricted BrAC. Methods: 23 males in 20s (average age $21.17{\pm}2.19$ years, body mass index (BMI) $22.09{\pm}2.16$) were selected and administered the amount of alcohol to reach 0.05% and 0.08% BrAC calculated by BAC (blood alcohol concentration) Dosing Software program, which was developed as basis of Watson's formula. Then, the contrast sensitivity in various luminance conditions (photopic, mesopic, and mesopic with glare) was measured and compared between these conditions. Results: The contrast sensitivity in all spatial frequency was decreased with BrAC increase. Although BrAC was increased, the peak of contrast sensitivity didn't change as 6 cycle per degree (cpd) in the photopic condition and 3 cpd in the mesopic condition, respectively. But, in the mesopic condition with glare, the peak of contrast sensitivity was shifted from 6 cpd at 0% and 0.05% BrAC to 3 cpd at 0.08% BrAC with increase of alcohol concentration. Conclusions: The increase of BrAC by drinking alcohol induces the decrease of contrast sensitivity in all spatial frequency and the shift of peak of contrast sensitivity, which can cause safety accidents, and may have an effect on various visual tasks.

  • See and feel the emotion recognition is the image of a person variously changed according to the environment, personal disposition. Thus, the image recognition has been focused on the emotional sensibilities computer you want to control the number studies. However, existing emotional computing model is numbered and the objective is clearly insufficient measurement conditions. Thus, through quantifiable image Emotion Recognition and emotion computing, is a study of the situation requires an objective assessment scheme. In this paper, the sensitivity was represented by numbered sizes quantified according to the image recognition calculation emotion. So apply the principal attributes of the color image emotion recognition as a configuration parameter. In addition, in calculating the color sensitivity by applying a digital computing focused research. Image color emotion computing research approach is the color of emotion attribute, brightness, and saturation reflects the weighted according to importance to the emotional scores. And free-degree by applying the sensitivity point to the image sensitivity formula (X), the tone (Y-axis) is calculated as a number system. There pleasure degree (X-axis), the tension and position the position of the image point that the sensitivity of the emotional coordinate crossing (Y-axis). Image color coordinates by applying the core emotional effect of Russell (Core Affect) is based on the 16 main representatives emotion. Thus, the image recognition sensitivity and compares the number size. Depending on the magnitude of the sensitivity scores demonstrate this sensitivity must change. Compare the way the images are divided up the top five of emotion recognition emotion emotions associated with 16 representatives, and representatives analyzed the concentrated emotion sizes. Future studies are needed emotional computing method of calculation to be more similar sensibility and human emotion recognition.

  • This study focused on the temperament of infants and on maternal sensitivity in the investigation of the factors which affect infant-mother attachment. The 67 infant-mother pairs were divided into two groups on the basis of attachment security scores. Results showed a relationship between infant-mother attachment and temperament. There was also a relationship between maternal sensitivity and infant temperament. Factors most strongly affecting infant-mother attachment were infant's sociability, mother's emotion, and mother's satisfaction with the degree of infant's sociability.
