AZ3l 판재의 온간 사각컵 디프드로잉에서 금형 설계에 대한 성형성 민감도의 평가 (Evaluation of Formability Sensitivity to Die Design in Warm Square Cup Deep Drawing of AZ31 Sheet)

  • Magnesium alloy has low formability at room temperature and therefore, in many cases, forming at elevated temperatures is necessary to obtain the required material flow without failure. Tn the present study, square cup deep drawing tests using the magnesium alloy AE31 sheet were experimentally conducted using the porches and dies with different edge radius to evaluate the formability sensitivity to the die design variables. The experimental results showed that the fracture position over the cup wall moved from the punch nose to the flange as the die temperature increased, and that the drawing depth change was more affected by the punch radius than the die radius.

  • A design methodology is applied for manufacturing a disk-brake piston component and a washing machine container. The design criteria are the limit drawing ratio and the forging load within the available press limit. Also, the final product should not have any geometrical defect. The rigid-plastic and elastic-plastic FEM have been applied to simulate both of the conventional manufacturing processes, respectively, which include deep drawing and forging process. Simulations of one stage process from a selected stock to the final product shape are performed for generating information on additional requirements for metal flow. The best manufacturing processes are selected, which is using a hemispherical punch in the deep drawing process for both disk-brake piston component and washing machine container.

스프링형 블랭크홀더 시스템의 디프드로잉 가공에서 다이면 윤활효과에 관한 연구 (A study on the effect of die lubrication in deep drawing process with spring type blankholder system)

  • The purpose of this paper is to obtain the effect of die lubrication in deep drawing process. The flange wrinkling is analysed by a moment equilibrium method in order to apply the optimum blankholding force to the blank. The experiment has been carried out with the high stiffness spring-type blankholder system. As the result, blankholding pressure is determined in terms of variables in deep drawing process. In the range of frictional coefficient which has been found in this experiment, there was a little difference in required blankholding force but a great difference in drawing force. It was found that the stiffness of blankholder was the major factor which influences on flange wrinkling in spring-type blankholder system.

The rigid-plastic FEM has been applied to simulate the conventional four stage manufacturing processes, which include deep drawing and forging process. Simulation of one stage process from a selected stock to the final product shape is performed for generating information on additional requirements for metal flow. Two stage forming processes with different punch corner and nose geometries are also simulated to identify the possible best solutions. Finally, the best manufacturing process is selected, which is using a hemispherical punch int he deep drawing process.

  • The drawability of AZ31B magnesium sheet is estimated at various temperatures (200, 250, 300, 350 and $400^{\circ}C$), and forming speed (20, 50, 100 mm/min), thickness (0.5, 0.8, 1.0, 1.4 mm). The deep drawing process of circular cup and square cup were used in forming experiments. Experimental and FEM analysis are performed to investigate drawability and affection of controlled blank holding force. Through the controlled blank holding force, drawability was improved. This result is verified by FEM analysis. Through the observation of microstructure, the main cause is investigated as a quantity of the dynamic recrystallization.

  • The CAD/CAM System for deep drawing transfer die tin mechanical press process has been developed. The developed CAD system can generate the drawing of transfer die in mechanical press. Using thee results from CAD system, it can generate the NC data to machine die's elements on the CAD system. This system can reduce design man-hour an human errors. In order to construct the system, it is used to automated the design process and generate the NC data using concepts of the designing rule and the machining rule. The developed system is based on the knowledge base system which is involved a lot of expert's technology in the practice field. Using AutoLISP language under the AutoCAD system, CTK customer language of SmartCAM is used as the overall CAD/CAM environment. Results of this system will be provide effective aids to the designer and manufacturer in this field.

  • Warm deep drawing for optimum forming conditions to give the maximum drawing depth is investigated and compared with the results at room temperature. Experiments which draw square cups of STS 304 stainless steel sheet under the constant lubrication condition of teflon film made both in a crank and hydrqulic press for two kinds of specimens . The maximum drawing depth at warm forming condition reaches 1.4 times the drawing depth at room temperature in a crank press, whereas 1.6 times in a hydrqulic press, and also more uniform distribution of thickness in case of warm deep drawn cup is observed. The effects of other factors on formability , such as forming temperature, speed of press and cooling of punch are examinnied and discussed.

  • Recently, magnesium alloys have been widely used in automotive, aerospace and electronic industries with the advantages such as lightweightness, high specific strength and stiffness. However, magnesium alloy has quite low formability at room temperature due to its hexagonal close-packed crystal structure. Warm deep drawing is one of the forming technologies to improve the formability of magnesium alloy sheet and the lubrication condition is an important process parameter in that. In this study, the drawing tests of AZ31 alloy sheet at elevated temperature for various kinds of lubricant were carried out and the effects of lubrication conditions on drawbility were investigated.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the weldline movement of the laser welded sheets during the warm deep drawing process. For this investigation, Five steps of temperature ranges, from room temperature to $200^{\circ}C$, and two kinds of thickness combination, 0.8 mm${\times}$1.2 mm and 0.8 mm${\times}$1.6 mm SCP1 material sheets, were adopted. Also, the numerical analysis using the PAM-STAMP has been carried out with the same models as the specimens. As a result the higher temperature was adopted, the less weld-line movement was observed.

Die design system for deep drawing and ironing of high pressure gas cylinder

  • This paper describes a research work on the die design for the deep drawing & ironing(D. D. I) of high pressure gas cylinder. D. D. I die set is large-sized die used in horizontal press, which is usually composed of a drawing, and an ironing die. Design method of D. D. I die set is very different from that of conventional cold forging die set. Outer diameter of the die set is fixed because of press specification and that of the insert should be as small as possible for saving material cost. In this study, D. D. I die set has been designed to consider those characteristics, and the feasibility of the designed die has been verified by FE-analysis. In addition, the automated system of die design has been developed in AutoCAD R14 by formulating the applied methods to the regular rules.
