Change of FVC, $FEV_1$ after Discontinuance of Bronchodilator in Coal Workers' Pneumoconiosis Patients (탄광부진폐증 환자에서 기관지확장제 투여 중단 후의 노력성폐활량 및 일초폐활량의 변화)

  • For the evaluation of change of FVC and $FEV_1$ after discontinuance of bronchodilator in the coal workers' pneumoconiosis patients, 17 pairs of patients were selected. They were matched by the age(${\pm}5$ y.o.) and the type of ventilatory impairment. Pulmonary function was measured 2 times bimonthly before and after the drug discontinuance discontinued after measurement of PFT for 2 times. In case group the bronchodilator was discontinued after measurement of PFT for 2 times. In control group there was no interruption of medication. FVC, $FEV_1$ decreased in both group as measurement progress. Simple linear regression coefficients against the month of measurement were calculated in both group and tested for parallelism between two groups. The results of test revealed that both regression coefficients were parallel. So in conclusively, discontinuance of medication of bronchodilator for coal workers pneumoconiosis patients has no effect on the decreasing rate of FVC, $FEV_1$.

  • Loading steel coil products on a specialized packing case called pallet can be represented as a bin-packing problem with the special constraint where objects should be loaded on designated positions of bins. In this paper, under assuming that there exist only two types of objects, we focus on finding the optimum number of positions in a bin which minimizes the number of bins needed for packing a collection of objects. Firstly, we propose a method to decide the number of positions and prove that the method is optimum. Finally, for the packing problem using bins designed by the method, we show that the well-known algorithm, First-Fit Decreasing(FFD), is the optimum algorithm.

Biomechanical Analysis with the Force of Deltoid Muscle for Pianist

  • This study presents the relationship between the height of the chair and the force of deltoid muscle for pianist. The subject simulated playing the piano on the three different heights of the chairs. Digital camera was used to determine the angle of the joint of shoulder and elbow for 2-dimensional static link segment modeling in the sagittal plane. The deltoid, biceps and triceps muscles were considered to determine the muscle load. The results, compared to the force of deltoid muscle, are that the downward position of the higher chair produces significantly large force than the other two lower chairs. It can be caused by hunched shoulder with decreasing deltoid angle. In case of the upward position caused by the lower chair, even though the smallest force of deltoid presented, it was increased the force of elbow.

Studies on the Antioxidant Action of Antioxidant of Oils and Fats (유지의 항산화제의 항산화능력에 대하여)

  • Many synthetic antioxidants are now used to prevent the oxidation of oils and fats. Among the synthetic and tioxidants, it was known that those of HQ(Hydroquinone), BHA(Butyl hydroxyanisole), IG(isoamyl gallate), and NDGA(Nordihydro guaiaretic acid) are most efficient as the antioxidizing agent. In this work, Degree of antioxidation was investigated on the some such antioxidans BHA, CI(citric acid), AA(Ascoric acid) for several kinds of oils and fats which are most available in Korea by determining Acid value and Iodine Value. The results of experiments were as follows 1. The decreasing order of antioxidizing action by acid value is BHA, AA, CA. 2. The order of antioxidizing action by Iodine value is almost same as the case of Acid Value. 3. It is effective to add the antioxidants to kep oils and fat. 4. Oxidation is accelerated by standing oils and fats after boiling in the from fry pan. 5. Sesame oil is little oxidized without antioxidant.

  • Dynamic effect of gas in exhaust manifold influences the volumetric efficiency of the engine. Especially in case of multi-cylinder engine the shape of exhaust manifold is important for the opti-mum design of exhasut manifold complicated. In this paper the effects of exhaust manifold systems on volumetric efficiency were investigated for the 4 cylinder 4 stroke-cycle diesel engine. Volumetric efficiency was calculated by the method of characteristics. The calculation results coincided well the test results. This study showed that the appropriate position and diameter of exhaust manifold branch are important factors in increasing volumetric efficiency and decreasing pumping loss.

A Study on The Load Capacity of Doubly-Stepped Journal Bearing (공기윤활베어링의 부하용량 증대에 관한 연구)

  • In order to improve the load capacity of externally pressurized air-lubeicatedjournal bearings, a new type(doubly-stepped type) bearing was revised and experimented. Through the results of experiment, the load capacity of doubly-stepped bearings was discussed and compared with equivalent conventional circular journal bearings. Results were obtained for speed up to 18000rpm and for supply pressure ratio(Ps/Pa) 4.8,6,7. Compared with equivalent conventional bearings, doubly-stepped bearings resultd a high gain in load capacity. It is also shown that the increasing rate of load capacith increases with decreasing the eccentricity ratio. Furthermore, the increasing rate is higher in the case of great clearanceratio than small dleatance ratio of doubly-stepped bearings. Such an increase in load capacity is confirmed by pressure distributions in the bearings.

  • This paper deals with a characteristic of output for high frequency resonant inverter type x-ray generator in short exposure time. In the same tube-voltage, the waveform is stable in long exposure time (200msec) but more decreasing exposure time (50msec), the waveform is distorted. The ripple factor of tube-voltage waveform distorted more and more increase tube-voltage and in this case output is also unstable. High-frequency resonant inverter type X-ray generator using PSU source which introduced in resent is stable tube-voltage waveform and low ripple factor.

  • This study analyzed and compared the flowing and strength properties of mortar depending on the different fine aggregate replacement ratios and whether or not the mixing of PVA fiber was applied. blast furnace slag, red mud, and silica fume that are industrial by-products were used for the analysis. The findings showed that higher replacement level of fine aggregate increased air content while decreasing the table flow. In addition, in case of the compressive strength, Plain mortar and PVA fiber with the replacement ratios of 15% and 30%, respectively showed the greatest strength development.

  • This present paper mainly contains adhesion part disconnection type exposure composition waterproof method using embossing PVC sheet. The existing polymer resin coating and sheet waterproofing construction method have, however, some weak point such as being decrease life cycle of concrete with water leaking from materials be affected by crack and movement dash bond concrete through the whole-adhere construction. Above the reason, this paper has particular method increasing crack-defending performance from stress occurred concrete movement by part disconnection, adds maintain waterproofing performance subordinate sheet, that can be contributed a convenience of maintenance which is decreasing industrial waste and repair construction cycle through the part repair in case of leaking water.

  • The restorative procedure in posterior teeth involves clinical steps related to professional skill, especially when using the incremental technique, which may fail in the long term. A recent alternative is bulk-fill resins, which can reduce polymerization shrinkage, decreasing clinical problems such as marginal leakage, secondary caries, and fracture. This scientific study aims to report a clinical case using bulk-fill resin with an occlusal matrix. As determined in the treatment plan, an acrylic resin matrix was produced to establish an improved oral and aesthetic rehabilitation of the right mandibular first molar, which presented a carious lesion with dentin involvement. The occlusal matrix is a simple technique that maintains the original dental anatomy, showing satisfactory results regarding function and aesthetic rehabilitation.
