XBRL Adoption Process in Malaysia Using Diffusion of Innovation Theory

  • The study examined the XBRL adoption process of Malaysian Business Reporting System (MBRS) by utilizing Everett Rogers' Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) theory. The study focused on the three phases, namely, knowledge gathering and persuasion phase, decision-making phase, and implementation phase of XBRL adoption process gathered from a government agency in Malaysia. This study employs a qualitative case study that incorporates semi-structured interviews with four members of the regulator. The results reveal that the regulator has realized the advantages, management support, and need to skills development in phase one. On the other hand, in phase two, it finds the way the regulator makes decision related to XBRL taxonomy and submission template, platform, tools and software. Through phase three, the regulator is concerned with the complexity of XBRL taxonomy, resources, external support, promotion, stakeholder involvement, limited trading pressure, critical mass, and professional bodies. The factors from each phase suggest an in-depth understanding on the experience of XBRL through the development of MBRS that provides a success story to the other government agencies and regulators in Malaysia. This study provides several insights on the factors that could contribute to the adoption of XBRL and the Diffusion of Innovation theory adoption process.

The Effects of Project based Action Learning in Web-based SMEs : ALPACO Case

  • How can action learning program promote organizational learning performance and especially project based team performance in Web-based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)? This article discusses the association between project based team in action learning program and the performance of Web-based SME to be learning organization. In the case of ALPACO, action learning program that promote employee communication behavior, knowledge sharing, and organizational learning are found to be positively associated with the project based team performance and organizational learning, The results indicate that action learning program in SMEs indeed associated with greater knowledge sharing, learning communication skills and changing organizational culture. Learning organization can be, in turn, positively developed by project based team through action learning program for creating competitive advantage, Also, this study offers further support for the practical perspective on learning organization performance. The evidence from this case study suggests that the project team in action learning program playa significant role in team performance and the development of learning organization of the firm. Therefore, in the future, Web-based SMEs should consider making investments in action learning program that encourage project team's effective management in decision making, knowledge sharing, and organizational learning.

열린 수학 학습을 위한 게임의 교육적 활용 가능성 탐색 (An exploratory study of the Educational Simulation Games for open mathematic learning)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the applicability of educational games to open mathematic learning and consideration to the position of educational games in mathmatical education as powerful technology. For these purposes, previous literatures about games are reviewed. The concept of simulation games are defined and explore the characteristics of games includings game structure and process. And some typical educational games - Israel games, ORDA - are introduced. The main focus of the deliberation and survey of previous literatures is educational games as meaningful learning medium of mathematics and other subjuct matters. Especially educational games take a meaningful role for an implication of applicability of games especially for higher order thinking skills like problem solving, decision making, and creativity. To realize this alternative learning method of mathematics, first of all the attituce of teachers are have to change and accumulate field studies.

임상시험의 단계별 이해 및 실제 (Understanding of Clinical Trials and Application to the Real Practice)

  • Understanding of a clinical trial is essential in developing clinical guideline and adopting evidence based practice. In designing and executing clinical trials, following ethical requirements should be considered : social value, scientific validity, fair subject selection, informed consent, favorable risk-benefit ratio, institutional review board, and respect for human subjects. According to the stage of drug development, purpose of trials, accumulated scientific data, clinical trials for drug development are classified as phase 1, 2, 3, and 4. Phases of clinical trials can be overlapped and the judgment of entering into the next phase should be considered highly strategically. In reading, evaluating and interpreting clinical trial reports, various skills and challenges exist. Patient sample composition, trial duration, selection of endpoints, responders and non-responders, placebo effect, patient recruitment, and extrapolation to the real world are the examples of those challenges. Treatment success will come from the well balanced approach of evidence based decision making and consideration of specific single case.

임상약학 교육을 위한 수련과정 (Clerkship on Clinical Pharmacy Education)

  • The goal of this clerkship is to expose the student to basic skills needed fir a patient oriented pharmacist to assume an existing clinical role and participate in therapeutic decision making processes. As the pharmacy profession has moved from the traditional product orientation to a patient orientation, curricula within the college of pharmacy have evolved to include more experiential coursework to lister this patient orientation. This change has been supported by the philosophy of pharmaceutical care which encourages pharmacists to assume a patient advocacy role in optimizing a patient's drug therapy while minimizing the adverse effects of the medication. The role of experiential education, and especially the clerkship experience will be to hasten and enhance the development of this concept and philosophy for pharmacy students.

Determinants of Health Information-Seeking Behavior: Implications for Post-Treatment Cancer Patients

  • Health information-seeking behavior (HISB) is active need-fulfillment behavior whereby health information is obtained from diverse sources, such as the media, and has emerged as an important issue within the transforming medical environment and the rise of medical consumers. However, little is known about the factors that affect HISB and its associations, and the health outcome of HISB. The aim of this study was to examine individual and social contextual factors associated with HISB and to systematically review their effects on health status among post-treatment cancer patients. Individual determinants of HISB included demographic factors, psychosocial factors, perceived efficacy and norms, and health beliefs. Contextual determinants of HISB encompassed community characteristics, neighborhood social capital, and media advocacy. Improving through factors on these two levels, HISB raised individuals' self-care management skills and medical treatment compliance, and enhanced shared decision-making and medical treatment satisfaction. Moreover, because HISB can differ according to individuals' social contextual conditions, it can give rise to communication inequalities. Because these can ultimately lead to health disparities between groups, social interest in HISB and balanced HISB promotion strategies are necessary.

이마고 부부치료 모델 내용의 타당성과 적용 효과성 연구 (Validity of Imago Couple Therapy's Contents and Effects of Application of the Imago Couple Therapy)

  • This study focused on the validity of Imago couple therapy's contents and the effects of application of the Imago couple therapy model. The participated subjects were 38 graduate students and their spouses. The major findings of this study were as follows. First, the types of couple relations that formed and sustained marital relations after growth could be predicted by the early childhood relationships between the subjects when they were children and their parents. Second, the marital conflicts and frustrations could be healed by the 'parent-child dialogue' and 'guided imagery'. Third, Imago couple therapy was effective for couple counseling to improve the areas of marital relationships, especially marital intimacy, marital communication, communication skills for marital conflicts, mutual respect, gender role, sexual satisfaction, time together, and decision-making. Fourth, Couple's Dialogue was a powerful tool for couple and parent-child relationships as well as general counseling practices.

  • 현대 사회의 여러 문제들을 극복하기 위해서 민주 시민의 자질을 향상시키는 것은 중요하다. 민주 시민의 자질에는 합리적이고 민주적인 문제 해결력, 의사결정력, 인간의 존엄성, 대화, 그리고 타협과 같은 민주적 태도 및 기능이 포함된다. 시뮬레이션과 게임 그리고 네트웍의 장점을 가진 교육용 네트웍 시뮬레이션 게임을 이용한다면 민주 시민의 자질을 향상 시키는 민주 시민 교육에 도움이 될 것이다. 본 연구는 이러한 민주 시민 교육을 위한 교육용 네트웍 시뮬레이션 게임의 구조와 절차, 시스템, DB, 인터페이스, 교수-학습용 도구 등에 대해 살펴본다.

  • The purpose of this study is to devise a teaching and learning strategies of leadership for the gifted in science, to develop a leadership reinforcement program using the strategies, and to verify the effectiveness of the program. We designed teaching and learning strategies of leadership for the gifted in science as follows; to give a chance to exercise the essential elements of leadership life skills through science activities. The activities based on students' interest should stimulate reflective thinking and cooperation with each other. We found out that the teaching and learning program for leadership improvement for the gifted in science was effective, especially group management skill, communication skill, decision-making skill, human relations skill, and self-understanding skill.

Evidence-Based Medicine에 대한 소개 (Introduction to Evidence-based Medicine (EBM))

  • EBM is "the conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in mating decisions about the care of the individual patient. It means integrating individual clinical expertise with the best available external clinical evidence from systematic research." EBM is the integration of clinical expertise, patient values, and the best evidence into the decision making process for patient care. The practice of EBM is usually triggered by patient encounters which generate questions about the effects of therapy, the utility of diagnostic tests, the prognosis of diseases, or the etiology of disorders. The best evidence is usually found in clinically relevant research that has been conducted using sound methodology. Evidence-based medicine requires new skills of the clinician, including efficient literature-searching, and the application of formal rules of evidence in evaluating the clinical literature. Evidence-based medicine converts the abstract exercise of reading and appraising the literature into the pragmatic process of using the literature to benefit individual patients while simultaneously expanding the clinician's knowledge base. This review will briefly discuss about concepts of evidence medicine and method of critical appraisal of literatures.
