The purpose of this study is to provide a decision support to select an appropriate rapid prototyping(RP) machine that suits the application of a part. Selection factors include concept model, form/fit/functional model, pattern model for molding, material property, build time and part cost that greatly affect the performance of RP machines. However, the selection of a RP is not an easy decision because they are uncertain and vague. For this reason, the aim of this research is to propose hybrid multiple attribute decision making approaches to effectively evaluate RP machines. In addition, because subjective considerations are relevant to selection decision, a fuzzy logic approach is adopted. The proposed selection procedure consists of several steps. First, we identify RP machines that the users consider. After constructing the evaluation criteria, we calculate the weights of the criteria by applying the fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) method. Finally, we construct the fuzzy Technique of Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution(TOPSIS) method to achieve the ranking order of all machines providing the decision information for the selection of RP machines.
In the process of containerization, the problem of regional maldistribution of container management plan arises seriously due to several factors like a number of unbalances of containers between loading and discharging ports. This study focus on the minimizing cost. This study is composed of two models which in effective management decision making show decision of the number of containers and transfer of empty containers. One is decision of the number of containers which carriers should possess by appropriate forecasting and the other is effective management decision making which includes the transfer of empty containers on calling ports. This study has suggested as follows, First, the Time Series analysis method, especially the "Exponential Smooting with Trend Adjustment" was used to forecast the trade volumes for the designated traffic route. Second, the Time Series analysis method in deciding the optimal number of owned container at the unbalances trade situation between East Bound and West Bound service, most important variables were found such as total traffic volume, the calling interval at a port, the number of days of voyage and the length of stay on shore of container for the optimal number of owned container. Third, effective management decision making model, which makes it possible to analyze the impacts of change in important matters such as lease and positioning policy, and actually influence decision making.on making.
Given the limited water resources and the presence of multiple decision makers with different and usually conflicting objectives in the exploitation of water resources systems, especially dam's reservoirs; therefore, the decision to determine the optimal allocation of reservoir water among decision-makers and stakeholders is a difficult task. In this study, by combining a fuzzy VIKOR technique or fuzzy multi-criteria decision making (FMCDM) and the Young's bilateral bargaining model, a new method was developed to determine the optimal quantitative and qualitative water allocation of dam's reservoir water with the aim of increasing the utility of decision makers and stakeholders and reducing the conflicts among them. In this study, by identifying the stakeholders involved in the exploitation of the dam reservoir and determining their utility, the optimal points on trade-off curve with quantitative and qualitative objectives presented by Mojarabi et al. (2019) were ranked based on the quantitative and qualitative criteria, and economic, social and environmental factors using the fuzzy VIKOR technique. In the proposed method, the weights of the criteria were determined by each decision maker using the entropy method. The results of a fuzzy decision-making method demonstrated that the Young's bilateral bargaining model was developed to determine the point agreed between the decisions makers on the trade-off curve. In the proposed method, (a) the opinions of decision makers and stakeholders were considered according to different criteria in the exploitation of the dam reservoir, (b) because the decision makers considered the different factors in addition to quantitative and qualitative criteria, they were willing to participate in bargaining and reconsider their ideals, (c) due to the use of a fuzzy-logic based decision-making approach and considering different criteria, the utility of all decision makers was close to each other and the scope of bargaining became smaller, leading to an increase in the possibility of reaching an agreement in a shorter time period using game theory and (d) all qualitative judgments without considering explicitness of the decision makers were applied to the model using the fuzzy logic. The results of using the proposed method for the optimal exploitation of Iran's 15-Khordad dam reservoir over a 30-year period (1968-1997) showed the possibility of the agreement on the water allocation of the monthly total dissolved solids (TDS)=1,490 mg/L considering the different factors based on the opinions of decision makers and reducing conflicts among them.
Objectives: The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact of shared-decision making on patient satisfaction. The study is significant since it focuses on developing appropriate methodologies and analyzing data to identify patient preferences, with the goals of optimizing treatment selection, and substantiating the relationship between such preferences and their impact on outcomes. Methods: A thorough literature review that developed the framework illustrating key dimensions of shared decision making was followed by a quantitative assessment and regression analysis of patient-perceived satisfaction, and the degree of shared-decision making. Results: A positive association was evident between shared-decision making and patient satisfaction. The impact of shared decision making on patient satisfaction was greater than other variable including gender, education, and number of visits. Conclusions: Patients who participate in care-related decisions and who are given an explanation of their health problems are more likely to be satisfied with their care. It would benefit health care organizations to train their medical professionals in this communication method, and to include it in their practice guidelines.
The purpose of this study was to identify the determinants of decision-making confidence of clothing. As determinants, this study examined consumer susceptibility to interpersonal influence, vanity, and clothing knowledge. Data were collected through surveying university students in Seoul metropolitan area using convenience sampling method. Out of 324 distributed, 300 useful questionnaires were returned. The results showed that identical conformity among consumer susceptibility to interpersonal influence factors significantly influences, both directly and indirectly, decision making confidence through vanity. Although normative conformity does not influence decision-making confidence directly, it does significantly influence decision-making confidence indirectly through influencing vanity and clothing knowledge. The results suggest clothing is a manifestation tool for managing public self, which finally leads to increased clothing knowledge and decision-making confidence of clothing. These findings may be used by marketers in developing strategies for product development and promotion.
Purpose: This study was a descriptive correlation study to increase understanding of, and relationships among critical thinking disposition, clinical decision making and job satisfaction of cancer center nurses. Method: The participants in this study were 150 nurses working in one cancer center located in Gyeonggi Province. The statistic program, SPSS WIN17.0 was used for data analysis and data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation. Results: The critical thinking disposition of the participants showed statistically significant differences according to areas of practice (F=4.426, p=.005), and current position (F=9.346, p=.000). For clinical decision making of the participants, statistically significant differences were found according to current position (F=10.667, p=.000). Furthermore, for job satisfaction, there were statistically significant differences according to income (F=6.779, p=.002), length of career (F=2.701, p=.033) and current position (F=5.423, p=.005). There were significant positive correlations for critical thinking disposition with clinical decision making, and with job satisfaction. Conclusions: The results of the study indicate that to improve clinical decision making and job satisfaction of cancer center nurses, it is necessary to increase critical thinking disposition. To make this change, appropriate programs are needed to increase critical thinking and clinical decision making of general cancer center nurses.
The increasing complexity of the socio-economic environments makes it less and less possible for single decision-maker to consider all relevant aspects of problem. Therefore are, many organizations employ groups in decision making. In this paper, we present a multiperson decision making method using fuzzy logic with linguistic quantifier when each of group members specifies imprecise judgments possibly both on performance evaluations of alternatives with respect to the multiperson criteria and on the criteria. Inexact or vague preferences have appeared in the decision making literatures with a view to relaxing the burdens of preference specifications imposed to the decision-makers and thus taking into account the vagueness of human judgments. Allowing for the types of imprecise judgments in the model, however, makes more difficult a clear selection of alternative(s) that a group wants to make. So, further interactions with the decision-makers may proceed to the extent to compensate for the initial comforts of preference specifications. These interaction may not however guarantee the selection of the best alternative to implement. To circumvent this deadlock situation, we present a procedure for obtaining a satisfying solution by the use of linguistic quantifier guided aggregation which implies fuzzy majority. This is an approach to combine a prescriptive decision method via a mathematical programming and a well-established approximate solution method to aggregate multiple objects.
Those making decisions are no longer located in the same workplace. Wireless technology appears promising as a method to promote group performance in circumstances dependent on time, but not member proximity. However, the success of wireless technology in group decision-making situations has not yet been proven. This paper seeks to learn whether wireless technology affects the performance of group decision-making tasks that should be resolved urgently and/or sources of idea are disconnected with on-line network.
This study suggests the Link weight analysis approach to choose input variables and an integrated model to make more accurate bankruptcy prediction model. the Link weight analysis approach is a method to choose input variables to analyze each input node's link weight which is the absolute value of link weight between an input nodes and a hidden layer. There are the weak-linked neurons elimination method, the strong-linked neurons selection method in the link weight analysis approach. The Integrated Model is a combined type adapting Bagging method that uses the average value of the four models, the optimal weak-linked-neurons elimination method, optimal strong-linked neurons selection method, decision-making tree model, and MDA. As a result, the methods suggested in this study - the optimal strong-linked neurons selection method, the optimal weak-linked neurons elimination method, and the integrated model - show much higher accuracy than MDA and decision making tree model. Especially the integrated model shows much higher accuracy than MDA and decision making tree model and shows slightly higher accuracy than the optimal weak-linked neurons elimination method and the optimal strong-linked neurons selection method.
This paper presents a prescriptive approach to group decision making with group members' imprecise preference information. This includes an alternative method to Salo's inventive approach for identifying group's preferred alternative when attribute weights, consequences, and possibly group members' importance weights are specified in imprecise ways. The imprecise additive group value function can be decomposed into individual group member's imprecise decision making problems, which are finally aggregated to identify group's preferred alternative. The proposed approach is intuitive and easy to implement, and has merits in a couple of points. First. it is possible to view individual group member's inclinations toward conflicting alternatives and the degree of discrepancies to each other. Second, we can observe how much previous decision results of individual decision maker are influenced during interaction since decisions usually are not made at a single step especially in presence of partial preference information. Finally, the individual group member's decision results can be utilized for further investigation of dominance relations among alternatives in a case that interactive questions and responses fail to give a convergent group consensus.
