Enhanced Multiresolution Motion Estimation Using Reduction of One-Pixel Shift (단화소 이동 감쇠를 이용한 향상된 다중해상도 움직임 예측 방법)

  • In this paper, enhanced multiresolution motion estimation(MRME) using reduction of one-pixel shift in wavelet domain is proposed. Conventional multiresolution motion estimation using hierarchical relationship of wavelet coefficient has difficulty for accurate motion estimation due to shift-variant property by decimation process of the wavelet transform. Therefore, to overcome shift-variant property of wavelet coefficient, two level wavelet transform is performed. In order too reduce one-pixel shift on low band signal, S$_4$ band is interpolated by inserting average value. Secondly, one level wavelet transform is applied to the interpolated S$_4$ band. To estimate initial motion vector, block matching algorithm is applied to low band signal S$_{8}$. Multiresolution motion estimation is performed at the rest subbands in low level. According to the experimental results, proposed method showed 1-2dB improvement of PSNR performance at the same bit rate as well as subjective quality compared with the conventional multiresolution motion estimation(MRME) methods and full-search block matching in wavelet domain.

Performance and Jitter Effects Analysis of Single Bit Electro-Optical Sigma-Delta Modulators (단일 비트 전자-광학 시그마-델타 변조기의 성능 및 지터 효과 분석)

  • Electro-optical sigma-delta modulators are the core module of digital receiver to digitize wideband radio-frequency signals directly at an antenna. Electro-optical sigma-delta modulators use a pulsed laser to oversample an input radio-frequency signals at two Mach-Zehnder Interferometer(MZI) and shape the quantization noise using a fiber-lattice accumulator. Decimation filtering is applied to the quantizer output to construct the input signal with high resolution. The jitter affects greatly on reconstructing the original input signal of modulator. This paper analyzes the performance of first order single bit electro-optical sigma-delta modulator in the time domain and the frequency domain. The performance of modulator is analyzed by using asynchronous spectral averaging of the reconstructed signal's spectrum in the frequency domain. The reference value of time jitter is presented by analyzing the performance of jitter effects. This kind of jitter value can be used as a reference value on the design of modulators.

A Study on the Usefulness of Photogrammetry through 3D Recording of the Rock-carved Standing Buddha in Singyeong-ri, Hongseong (홍성 신경리 마애여래입상의 3차원 기록화를 통한 포토그래메트리의 유용성 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to improve the usefulness of photogrammetry in the field of cultural heritage recording concentrated on laser scanning. Two measurement methods(laser scanning, photogrammetry) were compared in terms of accuracy and reality for the Rock-carved Standing Buddha in Singyeong-ri, Hongseong. With regard to accuracy, the distances of major points by both shape information and between the two shape information were compared. Only a deviation of about 1mm was found in the distance measurement of the major points by both shape information. In particular, the average distance between two shape information identified through aligning was only about 0.01mm. Also, the absolute deviation within about 2mm accounted for 70% of the total, and the absolute deviation within about 3.5mm was found to be 95.4% of the total. These values showed very high similarity between laser scanning and photogrammetry-based shape information. In respect of reality, the carved depth, texture, and patterns were compared. As a result of comparing four cross-sectional shapes, only slight differences were found in the shape information of both measurement techniques and similar shapes were identified. The overall texture of both shape information was also similar. However, the detailed shape based on the photogrammetry with decimation is realized with a smoother texture than the original and laser scanning. In particular, Photogrammetry also realistically expressed the various ornaments carved in the Rock-carved Buddha and the patterns with shallow depths were comparatively detailed.

A Semi-fragile Watermarking Algorithm of 3D Mesh Model for Rapid Prototyping System Application (쾌속조형 시스템의 무결성 인증을 위한 3차원 메쉬 모델의 Semi-fragile 워터마킹)

  • In this paper, semi-fragile watermarking algorithm was proposed for the application to RP(Rapid Prototyping) system. In the case of the perceptual change or distortion of the original one, the prototype product will be affected from the process because the RP system requires the high precision measure. Therefore, the geometrical transformations like translation, rotation and scaling, the mesh order change and the file format change are used in the RP system because they do not change the basic shapes of the 3D models, but, the decimation and the smoothing are not used because they change the models. The proposed algorithm which is called semi-fragile watermarking is robust against to these kinds of manipulations which preserve the original shapes because it considers the limitations of the RP system, but fragile against to the other manipulations which change the original shapes. This algorithm does not change the model shapes after embedding the watermark information, that is, there is no shape difference between the original model and the watermarked model. so, it will be useful to authenticate the data integrity and hide the information in the field of mechanical engineering which requires the high precision measure.
