  • The three species, Synolpheus tumidomanus, Spirontocaris orcuota, Heptacarpus futilirostris, are added to the shrimp fauna of the Ulreung Island.S. turn idomanus was reported one time in Korean waters without redescription, and the present report is the second. Heptocawus futilirostris is newly recorded from the East Sea in Korean waters. With the five previously known species, the total eight species are listed and 5. tumidomanus is redescribed.

  • The complete larval development of Rhinolithodes wosnessenskii Brandt, 1848 is described, based on laboratory rearing. The species has four zoeal stages and a megalopa. The zoeas of R. wosnessenskii are readily distinguished from all other described zoeas of the subfamily Lithodinae by having a middorsal spine of the posterior margin of the carapace.

  • As a result of continuous taxonomic study on crabs, Clistocoeloma villosum (A. Milne-Edwards, 1869) is newly reported from Korean waters. C. villosum has no epibranchial tooth on the carapace, while C. merguiense De Man, 1888, only recorded species of this genus in Korean fauna, has two epibranchial teeth. The description and illustrations of C. villosum are provided herein. Korean Sesarmid crabs now consist of 10 species belonging to six genera.

  • Eight zoeal stages and one decapodid of the hippolytid shrimp Latreutes acicularis Ortmann, 1890 are described from laboratory-reared material hatched from egg from ovigerous females collected from Shimoda, Japan. The presence of a minute dorsomedian protuberance on the third abdominal somite, the spinules on the dorsal margin of the fourth and fifth abdominal somites, and a pair of dorsolateral spines on the fourth and fifth abdominal somites readily distinguish the larvae of L. acicularis from those of L. anoplonyx Kemp, 1914 and L. laminirostris Ortmann, 1890, the other two known larvae of Latreutes from East Asia.

  • The feeding habits of Micropterus salmoides were investigated and two lakes, Lake Okjeong and Lake Yongdam, between March 2007 and March 2009. In Lake Okjeong, M. salmoides was likely introduced almost 20 years ago and in Lake Yongdam was less than 10 years ago. Food contents in M. salmoides from each lakes showed a significant difference in Index of Relative Importance (IRI) value. Fishes was most important prey item in Lake Okjeong whereas decapoda in Lake Yongdam. The difference in IRI of the Decapoda means that their abundance of this prey item in Lake Yongdam is higher than in Lake Okjeong. These decrease of the Decapoda in the lake may be caused by the feeding of M. salmoides. In Lake Yongdam the proportion of the Decapoda in the food of M. salmoides decreased during the study period, while the fishes increased from 2007 to 2008, suggesting related relationship to the feeding activity of M. salmoides as was seen in Lake Okjeong.
