In HVDC systems, the full-bridge submodule increases the number of components compared to the half-bridge submodule, but the failure-rate can be reduced by securing 100 % redundancy. However, full-bridge submodules require more complex control algorithms to ensure the redundancy and to prevent arm-short with sufficient dead-time. To solve this problem, we analyse the failure-rate of the paralleled half-bridge configuration with the same number of components and 100 % redundancy as the full-bridge submodule. The fault tree analysis (FTA) method is applied to the conventional part failure analysis to reflect the operation risk of the submodule, thereby predicting the life-cycle of the submodule more accurately. To verify the validity, the failure-rate results of the proposed FTA based analysis method are compared with the failure rate obtained by the part failure method.
The damage rate according to the age of black pine trees in the Black pine bast scale, Matsucoccus thunbergianae was high from 7 to 22 year old trees. According to damaged degree of damaged trees, it showed great difference in infection rate of saprophitic fungi. The period until the developmental degree of saprophitic fungi became maximized degree of 7 was required about 48 days in dead tree of 100 percent, about 54 days in one of above than 80 percent, about 75 days in one of 40~50 percent, but the dead tree less than 10 percent and health tree was retained the 3~4 developmental degree of saprophitic fungi, after 80 days. The ring width of damaged trees showed as follows. The non damaged trees was 3.52 cm, 0.77 cm in the damaged trees of 100 percent, 0.88 cm in the ones of 80 percent, 1.22 cm in the ones of 40~50 percent and 1.37 cm in the ones of les than 10 percent, respectively. Number of cells per unit area was smaller in the case of greater damaged trees, gradually. Also moisture content was very high in greater damaged trees, and bending strength was lower. Extracts by the one percent NaOH showed a small amount.
Major corporations and portals have implemented a link server that connects Content Management Systems (CMS) to the physical address of content in a database (DB) to support efficient content use in web-based environments. In particular, a link server automatically connects the physical address of content in a DB to the content URL shown through a web browser screen, and re-connects the URL and the physical address when either is modified. In recent years, the number of users of digital content over the web has increased significantly because of the advent of the Big Data environment, which has also increased the number of link validity checks that should be performed in a CMS and a link server. If the link validity check is performed through an existing URL-based sequential method instead of petabyte or even etabyte environments, the identification rate of dead links decreases because of the degradation of validity check performance; moreover, frequent link checks add a large amount of workload to the DB. Hence, this study is aimed at providing a link server that can recognize URL link deletion or addition through analysis on the B-tree-based Information Identifier count per interval based on a large amount of URLs in order to resolve the existing problems. Through this study, the dead link check that is faster and adds lower loads than the existing method can be performed.
This study was carried out to investigate the properties of hardboard made from fire killed larch tree and also effects of standing period after killed by fire. The results are as follows; 1. There were no effects on hardboard properties among the standing period differences after killed by fire within about 2 years. 2. Specific gravities, moisture contents, water absorptions of the boards from dead trees have no differences compared with those of sound wood. 3. Bending strengths of the boards from dead trees we re decreased in the range of 24-28% of the boards from sound wood.

Microorganisms have many roles in nature. They may act as decomposers that obtain nutrients from dead materials, while some are pathogens that cause diseases in animals, insects, and plants. Some are symbionts that enhance plant growth, such as arbuscular mycorrhizae and nitrogen fixation bacteria. However, roles of plant pathogens and diseases in natural ecosystems are still poorly understood. Thus, the current study addressed this deficiency by investigating possible roles of plant diseases in natural ecosystems, particularly, their positive effects on arthropod diversity. In this study, the model system was the oak tree (Quercus spp.) and the canker disease caused by Annulohypoxylon truncatum, and its effects on arthropod diversity. The oak tree site contained 44 oak trees; 31 had canker disease symptoms while 13 were disease-free. A total of 370 individual arthropods were detected at the site during the survey period. The arthropods belonged to 25 species, 17 families, and seven orders. Interestingly, the cankered trees had significantly higher biodiversity and richness compared with the canker-free trees. This study clearly demonstrated that arthropod diversity was supported by the oak tree canker disease.

TPR*-tree is the most widely-used index structure for effectively predicting the future positions of moving objects. The TPR*-tree, however, has the problem that both of the dead space in a bounding region and the overlap among hounding legions become larger as the prediction time in the future gets farther. This makes more nodes within the TPR*-tree accessed in query processing time, which incurs the performance degradation. In this paper, we examine the performance problem quantitatively with a series of experiments. First, we show how the performance deteriorates as a prediction time gets farther, and also show how the updates of positions of moving objects alleviates this problem. Our contribution would help provide Important clues to devise strategies improving the performance of TPR*-trees further.

This study has attempted to calculate the intensity of illumination for the optimal growth environment of indoor plants after analyzing both damage to plant species and growth conditions as impacted by light conditions for the Kyobo Life Insurance greenhouse. The optical intensity of illumination has been estimated after investigating the problems of growth conditions based on an analysis of illumination by light condition, dead tree replacement cycle(weeks) and rate of damage of plant species. According to the investigation of illumination, the lowest difference was observed between the shaded spot in the south(531lux) and the sunny spot(602lux) while the largest difference(nearly 500lux) was detected between the shaded spot in the central area(210lux) and the sunny spot(782lux). According to an analysis of dead trees from 1990 to 2004, in terms of dead tree replacement cycle, Viburnum awabuki was the highest(161weeks), followed by Phyllostachys spp.(84weeks), Camellia japonica and Ternstroemia japonica(40weeks). Regardless of plant species, damage rate of plant were lower in the shaded spot and higher in the sunny spot. According to correlation and regression analyses with the intensity of illumination as an independent variable and the damage rate of plant species as a dependent variable, the damage rate of plant species increased as the intensity of illumination decreased. A dramatic decline in the rate of damage was observed at $500{\sim}600lux$. At 700lux, it reached the lowest level.

This study sought to analyze changes in the vegetation structure and species diversity indices in the Abies koreana forest in the Yeongsil area of Hallasan Mountain and establish basic data for Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER). The results show that the number of woody plants per 1ha has increased by 804 (45.1%) from 1,781 to 2,585 individual plants, whereas the number of live A. koreana did not change much with 796 individual plants. The number of dead tree plants, however, jumped by 807 (82.2%) from 982 to 1,789 plants. With other tree species, the number of live individual plants increased by 807 (82.2%) from 982 to 1,789 plants, whereas the number of dead plants increased by 31 from 10 to 41 individual plants. Results of the average importance index analysis show that the number of A. koreana decreased, while the number of Weigela subsessilis, Rhododendron yedoense for. poukhanense, and Magnolia sieboldii increased. The species diversity index increased by 6.7% as per the maximum level in the upper layer and by 7.2% in the lower layer, respectively. Results of the stem morphology analysis show that the number of AS type was highest with 700 individual plants among A. koreana, while their distribution by type shifted from AS>AL>DS>DB to AS>DS>AL>DB. As for other species, the AS type was most abundant with 1,580 individual plants, while their distribution by type shifted from AL>AS>AF>AB to AS>AL>AB>AD. The number of newly sprouted tree plants has increased from 420 in 2014 to 453 in 2016. Of the individual plants that were alive in 2014, 23 were found dead and 33 individual plants younger than 3 years old have been newly added to the group. The number of deaths after 2014 was highest among the 2 years olds, whereas the number of 2 years olds that sprouted in 2014 was highest among the newly sprouted tree plant group. In the A. koreana forest in Yeongsil, the density of other species was rising rapidly with the exception of the dead and live A. koreana. The occurrence of new tree plants is decreasing rapidly, thereby confirming the rapid change in the area's vegetation structure. Therefore, there is a need for continuous long-term ecological research to monitor vegetation change. It can also be used as a basic data for efficient restoration research.

In this study, we have carried out test to examine the ignition characteristics, such as a relation of moisture content and combustibility, and ignition temperature using KRS-RG-9000 tester, of significant part of above trees which are representative species of Young Dong Province of Korea. After rainfall, the percentage of moisture content of living leaves and branches was between 52 and 70%. But it was just between 17 and 33% after 144 hours drying at normal temperature. For dead leaves, it was 10% lower than of first. There was a significant difference on ignition characteristics. The hazard of ignition is highest on dead leaves. The ignition temperature of barks and branches is higher so a retard time is long than of living and dead leaves at normal temperature.
