Purpose : To implement the database system of oral and maxillofacial radiological images using a commercial medical image management software with personally developed classification code. Materials and methods : The image database was built using a slightly modified commercial medical image management software, Dr. Image v.2.1 (Bit Computer Co., Korea). The function of wild card '*' was added to the search function of this program. Diagnosis classification codes were written as the number at the first three digits, and radiographic technique classification codes as the alphabet right after the diagnosis code. 449 radiological films of 218 cases from January, 2000 to December, 2000, which had been specially stored for the demonstration and education at Dept. of OMF Radiology of Dankook University Dental Hospital, were scanned with each patient information. Results: Cases could be efficiently accessed and analyzed by using the classification code. Search and statistics results were easily obtained according to sex, age, disease diagnosis and radiographic technique. Conclusion : Efficient image management was possible with this image database system. Application of this system to other departments or personal image management can be made possible by utilizing the appropriate classification code system.

The Korean Rice Ds-tagging lines Database (KRDD) is designed to provide information about Ac/Ds insertion lines and activation tagging lines using japonica rice. This database has provided information on 18,158 Ds lines, which includes the ID, description, photo image, sequence information, and gene characteristics. The KRDD is visualized using a web-based graphical view, and anonymous users can query and browse the data using the search function. It has four major menus of web pages: (i) a Blast Search menu of a mutant line; Blast from rice Ds-tagging mutant lines; (ii) a primer design tool to identify genotypes of Ds insertion lines; (iii) a Phenotype menu for Ds lines, searching by identification name and phenotype characteristics; and (iv) a Management menu for Ds lines.

한국과학기술정보연구원(KISTI)에서는 무기결정구조데이터베이스(ICSD, Inorganic Crystal Structure Database)를 국내 화학, 재료 관련 연구 개발자들에게 무료로 제공하고자 하였다. 그리하여 독일의 FIZ Karlsruhe로부터 ICSD의 국내 라이센스를 받아 이 데이터를 사용하여 데이터베이스를 구축하고 웹 기반의 새로운 정보 검색 시스템을 개발하였다. 웹상에서 여러 가지 방법으로 결정구조 정보를 검색 할 수 있는 다양한 메뉴를 구성하였으며 검색 결과에서는 결정구조에 관한 수치 정보 뿐 아니라 X-선 회절 패턴 및 3차원 결정구조 그래픽도 함께 제공하게 되었다. 이 시스템은 앞으로도 데이터의 계속적인 추가, 갱신이 이루어질 예정이며 연구자들이 편리하고 신속하게 정보를 제공받을 수 있도록 검색시스템을 향상시켜 나갈 것이다.

This study was conducted to develop a web expert system for nutrition counseling and menu management. This program manipulates a food, dish and menu and search database that has been developed. Clients can select a recommended general and therapeutic menu using this system. The web expert system can analyze nutrients in menus and compare nutrient contents of menus with Korean Recommended Dietary Allowances. It can access the food, dish and menu database. The expert menu database can insert, store and generate the synthetic information of age, sex, and therapeutic purpose of disease. With investigation and analysis of the client's needs, the menu planning program on the internet has been continuously developed. This system consists of the database that reaches to the food composition, the dishes and the menu. Clients can search food composition and conditional food based on nutrient name and amounts. This system is able to draw up the food with its order in dish. The menu planning can be organized and nutrients analysis can be compared with Korea Recommended Allowance. This system is able to read the nutrient composition of the each food, the dish and the menu. The results of analysis is presented quickly and accurately. Therefore it can be used by not only usual people but also dietitians and nutritionists who take charge of making a menu and experts in the field of food and nutrition. It is expected that the web expert system can be useful of nutrition education, nutrition counseling and expert menu management.

Coronaviruses are known respiratory pathogens. In the past, most human coronaviruses were thought to cause mild symptoms such as cold. However recently, as seen in the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), infectious diseases with severe pulmonary disease and respiratory symptoms are caused by coronaviruses, making research on coronaviruses become important. Considering previous studies, we constructed 'HCoV-IMDB (Human Corona Virus Immune Database)' to systematically provide genetic information on human coronavirus and host immune information, which can be used to analyze the interaction between human coronavirus and host immune proteins. The 'HCoV-IMDB' constructed in the study can be used to search for genetic information on human coronavirus and host immune protein and to download data. A BLAST search specific to the human coronavirus, one of the database functions, can be used to infer genetic information and evolutionary relationship about the query sequence.

본 논문은 인터넷 상에 산재해 있는 활용 가능한 다양한 모티프 및 도메인 관련 리소스들을 통합화 함으로써 체계적이고 효율적인 모티프 및 도메인 검색을 할 수 있는 통합 시스템 개발에 대해 다루고 있다. 이러한 시스템을 개발하기 위해 산재해 있는 모티프 및 도메인 관련 개별 데이터베이스의 핵심 부분만을 취합하여 로컬 데이터베이스화하고, 해당 데이터베이스에서 사용되는 개별 분석 도구들을 로컬 서버에 설치하였다. 그리고 다양한 유틸리티 및 CGI 프로그램 등을 통해서 이들 데이터베이스와 분석 도구들을 상호연동시켰고, 단일 웹 인터페이스를 통해 전체적으로 통합하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 모티프 및 도메인 통합 검색 시스템을 활용한다면, 최종 사용자들은 인터넷 상을 서핑하는데 많은 시간을 낭비하지 않고, 원스톱(one-stop) 서비스를 통해 본인이 하고자 하는 정확한 모티프 및 도메인 검색을 할 수 있어 보다 효율적이고 정확한 단백질 기능분석을 행 할 수 있을 것이다.

특정 정보를 필요로 하는 사용자는 관련 문서를 찾기 전에 다수의 검색 엔진들을 질의할 필요가 자주 있을 것이다. 검색엔진들의 항해 문제를 해결하기 위하여 에이전트가 사용되고 있다. 일반적으로, 에이전트는 적절할 때 또는 다른 프로그램의 요청에 따라 자동적으로 특정한 태스크를 수행할 수 있는 프로그램이다. 이 논문에서, 우리는 Edulnfo4k라 부르는 정보 수집에이전트를 사용한 어린이 교육 정보 검색 시스템을 설계하고 구현한다. 정보 수집 에이전트는 다수의 어린이 포털 웹사이트들: 야후코리아 꾸러기, 네이버 쥬니어 그리고 한미르 개구쟁이를 주기적으로 방문하고, 어린이 교육 또는 학습 정보를 수집하고, 수집된 정보를 데이터베이스에 저장한다. 따라서 일반 사용자들은 일관된 사용자 인터페이스를 통하여 데이터베이스로부터 어린이 교육 정보를 편리하게 검색할 수 있다. 그 결과, 우리는 Edulnfo4k가 다수의 검색엔진에서 질의 언어 통합검색을 제공함을 알 수 있었다.

관계형 데이터베이스 기반의 키워드 검색 기법에 대한 연구에서의 관심에도 불구하고 관계형 데이터 스트림 기반의 연구는 아직 미흡한 수준이다. 오늘날 스트리밍 데이터는 데이터 관리 측면에서 중요한 연구 토픽이기 때문에 관계형 데이터 스트림 기반의 키워드 검색 기법에 대한 연구는 매우 중요하다. 이러한 관점에서 본 논문은 관계형 데이터 스트림 기반의 키워드 검색 기법과 관련된 연구들을 먼저 분석하고 키워드 검색 질의를 처리하는 동안에 발생되는 조인 비용을 최소화하는 기법에 대해 초점을 둔다. 결과적으로 본 논문은 관계형 데이터 스트림에서 사용자를 위해 좀 더 의미 있는 질의 결과를 산출하기 위한 고급 키워드 검색 기법을 제안하고 효율적인 질의 처리를 위한 계층적 클러스터링을 사용한 질의 최적화 기법을 제안한다.

국내의 정보서비스 업체나 기관들은 세계적인 과학기술정보의 최신 동향과 연구 정보를 제공하기 위해 해외에서 발행된 데이터베이스를 도입, 구축한 정보를 서비스로 제공하고 있다. 여러 데이터베이스 중에서 FSTA(Food Science and Technology Abstracts)는 전 세계의 식품과학, 식품공학, 식품기술 및 음식과 관련된 식품 영양학에 관한 광범위한 초록 정보를 제공하는 데이터베이스이다. 식품과학에 관련된 정보를 유일하게 제공하는 FSTA 데이터베이스를 한국과학기술정보연구원(KISTI)에서 개발한 정보검색관리 시스템인 KRISTAL를 기반으로 데이터베이스를 구축하여 서비스를 제공할 수 있도록 데이터베이스 도입, 구축, 검색, 수정, 재구축, 통계 등의 여러 과정이 필요하다. 본 논문은 국내 이용자들에게 FSTA 데이터베이스의 정보를 서비스하기 위해 FSTA 데이터베이스를 입수하는 단계부터 KRISTAL 정보검색관리 시스템에 구축하는 단계까지의 과정을 체계적으로 구축하여 효율적으로 관리할 수 있도록 하는 시스템을 구현하는데 있다. 보다 빠르고 정확한 FSTA 데이터베이스 구축을 통해 사용자들은 최신의 FSTA 데이터베이스를 검색하여 원하는 정보를 얻을 수 있다.

최근 모바일 기기의 보편화로 인하여 모바일 데이터베이스를 필요로 하는 많은 새로운 모바일 응용들이 나타나고 있다. 대표적인 모바일 데이터베이스로는 SQLite, Realm 등이 있는데, 이들은 리소스 제약이 큰 소형기기에 적합한 데이터베이스 엔진들이며 리눅스 기반 모바일 기기에 많이 사용되고 있다. 이 엔진들은 대부분 오픈소스 프로그램들이며 범용 데이터베이스에 비해 가볍고 속도가 빠른 장점을 지닌다. 이 논문에서는 모바일 데이터베이스의 선두 주자인 SQLite의 성능 실험과 분석에 초점을 맞춘다. 대상인 모바일 환경을 고려하여 리눅스 기반 환경에서 실험한다. 그리고, SQLite 데이터베이스의 검색 성능을 파악하기 위한 테스트 프로그램을 구현하고 성능 실험을 실시한다. 실험은 같은 환경에서 실행되는 Oracle 데이터베이스와 비교하여 진행한다.
