  • The diagram has a intuition and simplicity So, it is widely used in various fields in current computing environment. But, because of the absence of a standard diagram specification method, we have difficulty in exchanging the diagram data between different diagram software and besides, we spend much money and time to code diagram component, rules and semantics to which diagram would be applied. So We propose a method for defining diagram component's shapes and actions, diagram's rules and semantics using XML. And We design and implement the diagram system which execute XML document specifying diagram. In the diagram system, We can define diagram component in WISWIG manner and generate DML document automatically. So We can develop diagram system more efficiently. And by defining diagram rules using DTD, we also achieve the consistency of DTD meaning. And We propose Semantic Definition XML for specifying diagram semantics. So, diagram sentence which drawn by users could be given semantics and executed in diagram system. In this thesis, many VPL(Visual Programming Language) concepts were adopted to implement diagram system environment.

  • Temporal data mining, the incorporation of temporal semantics to existing data mining techniques, refers to a set of techniques for discovering implicit and useful temporal knowledge from large quantities of temporal data. Temporal knowledge, expressible in the form of rules, is knowledge with temporal semantics and relationships, such as cyclic pattern, calendric pattern, trends, etc. There are many examples of temporal data, including patient histories, purchaser histories, and web log that it can discover useful temporal knowledge from. Many studies on data mining have been pursued and some of them have involved issues of temporal data mining for discovering temporal knowledge from temporal data, such as sequential pattern, similar time sequence, cyclic and temporal association rules, etc. However, all of the works treated data in database at best as data series in chronological order and did not consider temporal semantics and temporal relationships containing data. In order to solve this problem, we propose a theoretical framework for temporal data mining. This paper surveys the work to date and explores the issues involved in temporal data mining. We then define a model for temporal data mining and suggest SQL-like mining language with ability to express the task of temporal mining and show architecture of temporal mining system.

  • The MPEG-4 multiple auxiliary component (MAC) is a good mechanism to achieve one-stream stereoscopic video coding. However, there is no syntax or semantics for the residual texture data of the disparity-compensated image in the current MAC. Therefore, we propose a novel disparity-compensated coding method using the MAC for stereoscopic video. We also define a novel MAC semantics in MPEG-4 so as to support the proposed coding algorithm. The major difference between the existing and proposed coding methods using the MAC is the addition of the residual texture coding.

  • Since a large amount of multimedia image has dramatically increased, it is important to search semantically relevant image. Thus, several semantic image annotation methods using RDF(Resource Description Framework) model in mobile environment are introduced. Earlier studies on annotating image semantically focused on both the image tag and the context-aware information such as temporal and spatial data. However, in order to fully express their semantics of image, we need more annotations which are described in RDF model. In this paper, we propose an annotation method inferencing with RDFS entailment rules and user defined rules. Our approach implemented in Moment system shows that it can more fully represent the semantics of image with more annotation triples.

  • This paper describes Korean Nominal Bank, a project that provides argument structure for instances of the predicative nouns in the Sejong parsed Corpus. We use the language resources of the Sejong project, so that the same set of data is annotated with more and more levels of annotation, since a new type of a language resource building project could bring new information of separate and isolated processing. We have based on the annotation scheme based on the Sejong electronic dictionary, semantically tagged corpus, and syntactically analyzed corpus. Our work also involves the deep linguistic knowledge of syntaxsemantic interface in general. We consider the semantic theories including the Frame Semantics of Fillmore (1976), argument structure of Grimshaw (1990) and argument alternation of Levin (1993), and Levin and Rappaport Hovav (2005). Various syntactic theories should be needed in explaining various sentence types, including empty categories, raising, left (or right dislocation). We also need an explanation on the idiosyncratic lexical feature, such as collocation and etc.

  • This paper retraces the development of Database Semantics (DBS) from its beginnings in Montague grammar. It describes the changes over the course of four decades and explains why they were seen to be necessary. DBS was designed to answer the central theoretical question for building a talking robot: How does the mechanism of natural language communication work? For doing what is requested and reporting what is going on, a talking robot requires not only language but also non-language cognition. The contents of non-language cognition are re-used as the meanings of the language surfaces. Robot-externally, DBS handles the language-based transfer of content by using nothing but modality-dependent unanalyzed external surfaces such as sound shapes or dots on paper, produced in the speak mode and recognized n the hear mode. Robot-internally, DBS reconstructs cognition by integrating linguistic notions like functor-argument and coordination, philosophical notions like concept-, pointer-, and baptism-based reference, and notions of computer science like input-output, interface, data structure, algorithm, database schema, and functional flow.

  • BADA-IV/XML is a system designed specifically for managing XML. Documents and is essential to various electronic document applications as a fundamental system. BADA-IV/XML supports all of aspects of data model, querying and manipulation operations for managing XML documents. This paper provides an overview of these aspects of the BADA-IV/XML, as well as defines schema classes for stroing, querying and maintaining hierarchical semantics of multimedia documents and structural semantics of complex documents linked with each other, Also a multimedia document query language is designed and implemented to support essential operations for efficient searching and managing multimedia documents. Finally, some simulation results show the performance of the paged VF(Virtual Fragmentation) model and the search model using element's identifier as compared with a general model.

  • Content-based image retrieval is an approach used to query images based on their semantics. Semantic based retrieval has its application in all fields including medicine, space, computing etc. Semantically generated binary hash codes can improve content-based image retrieval. These semantic labels / binary hash codes can be generated from unlabeled data using convolutional autoencoders. Proposed approach uses semi-supervised deep hashing with semantic learning and binary code generation by minimizing the objective function. Convolutional autoencoders are basis to extract semantic features due to its property of image generation from low level semantic representations. These representations of images are more effective than simple feature extraction and can preserve better semantic information. Proposed activation and loss functions helped to minimize classification error and produce better hash codes. Most widely used datasets have been used for verification of this approach that outperforms the existing methods.

  • This paper reviews Grammatical Mapping theory, a recently proposed theoretical paradigm for understanding children's acquisition of syntax, and ventures to apply the theory to the acquisition of semantics. Particularly, we focused on the domain of space, and proposed how children might acquire a unique system of spatial words in their mother tongue. Based on our review of evidence, we propose that there may be universal semantic primitives that serve as foundations of word meanings. We also propose that children must learn their mother tongue's semantic category system of spatial relations, from real time data. Finally, we argue that children's learning of word meanings may involve creation of a theory that makes sense to the child, and that this process of theory creation is possibly guided by universal principles and parameters.
